Hold on to your summer tan
DO: MUSS UP YOUR HAIR
“The combination of blushcoloured lippie and glossy curls – or any structured ‘do – can look formal,” says Lo. Go for a cool-girl take with dishevelled waves (it’s what Erin Wasson would do).
Follow these tips to keep your glow going well into autumn.
1
Fake tan fades faster on your face because you cleanse twice a day (exfoliating doesn’t help either). Boost your colour with a subtly tinted primer – it’ll help your foundation last longer too.

TRY: ESSIE Nail Color in Waltz, $16.95, 1300 369 327; L’ORÉAL PARIS NutriShine by Colour Riche in Strawberry Juice, $19.95, 1300 659 359.
DO: TWEAK YOUR LINER
DON’T: FORGET YOUR BROWS
Don’t want to look like a ’60s throwback? Pair pale-pink lips with liner that looks lived-in. “Go for a smudge of black kohl along the lash line – it looks more modern than a graphic flick.”
“A punchy lip with bold brows is a strong look.” Keep the rest of your makeup minimal to avoid looking overdone.
TRY: NAPOLEON PERDIS DéVine Goddess Lipstick in Electra, $35, napoleonperdis.com; MAYBELLINE NY Master Smoky ShadowPencil, $14.95, 1300 369 327.
Want to really play up your tan, but just for a day? Smooth a bronze shimmer gel onto legs for instant colour that’ll wash off at the end of the night.
DON’T: DO MATCHY-MATCHY
Pink lips and nails can make you look too polished. “Try a white mani instead – it still looks smart, and feels fresher.”
TRY: MAYBELLINE NY Color Sensational Lip Color in Vivid Rose, $16.95, 1300 369 327; RIMMEL LONDON Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown, $8.50, 1800 812 663.

Winikka adds, “If there’s a particular ring you love, tell a friend exactly what you like about it, in case he doesn’t go for that exact one.” DO IT YOURSELF
Granted, the element of surprise is out the door, but hey, you’re getting what you want. “Make it clear you’d like a custommade ring before he proposes,” says Winikka. Moodboard your favourite styles, find a designer whose aesthetic matches yours and design The One.

an eye-catching necklace, textured belt or felt fedora gives denim extra definition. Invest in minimal pieces that are light on detail but big on colour, say, a scarlet camisole or silk dress in electric blue. Resist buying just neutrals; one or two vibrant shades make a world of difference to how you put an outfit together – and they’re as simple as pairing black with… well, black.
