Fun At The River
Escape the city and head to the Vaal for Mother’s Day or Easter. Both Stonehaven on Vaal and Riviera on Vaal are a mere 70-minute drive from Joburg. Treat mom to breakfast or lunch aboard the Vaal’s most luxurious cruiser. Or, if you prefer to stay on dry land, breakfast and lunch options to treat mom are also available at both hotels. Stonehaven on Vaal offers plenty for kids to do - from jumping castles to lawn games. They will be hosting breakfast, lunch and casual cruises over Easter. The Easter bunny will also be visiting, hiding Easter eggs all over the garden. Kids can have fun at the Beach by the River sandpit, the trampoline or the treehouse at Stonehaven on Vaal. Or, spoil mom to a lovely spa treatment and a day by the pool at Riviera on Vaal. Easter might also see families play a game of golf at the Riviera Country Club.

Brunch At Sejour
Tucked away in the luxurious Houghton Hotel in Joburg’s Houghton Estate, you will find the excellent fine dining restaurant, Sejour. It’s the domain of chef Freddie Dias who has used his world travels to inspire a menu that never fails to delight. There’s something unique about brunch in a hotel restaurant of Sejour’s calibre, and it’s the perfect way to treat your mom on Mother’s Day. A special day deserves something remarkable, so what about fresh oysters with lemon pearls and a refreshing Mimosa to start? Then try the dish simply named "The Egg" - parmesan Catalan, chive scrambled eggs and hake brandade (a potato and fish dish). And, who says you can’t have something sweet for brunch? Try chef Dias’ pasteis de nata - classic Portugese custard tarts with coffee and almond syrup.
