THE POT LUCK CLUB JOBURG

FROM THE MOTHER CITY TO THE CITY OF GOLD

Chef Luke Dale Roberts and his talented crew of chefs have recently unveiled The Pot Luck Club Johannesburg. The City of Gold will now be the permanent home of the popular Cape Town restaurant, which has been a huge success in the Mother City since opening its doors in 2012.

Located in Rosebank’s Oxford Parks development, The Pot Luck Club offers a different experience to that of the highly curated fine dining of The Test Kitchen Carbon, which used be based in the same spot. The Pot Luck Club Johannesburg comes with a more lively urban energy suited to Joburg’s vibrant dining scene. It serves tapas-style dishes with global flavours as inspiration, which have been reinvented with Pot Luck’s signature style. The menu includes more than twenty individual plates, and the restaurant aims to let guests experiment and create their own dining experience by setting the pace, the price and the choice of dishes.

The Pot Luck Club Joburg has an all-star team, with Group Executive Chef Jason Kosmas leading the menu and Gray Tawanda (the longest-serving manager of the Cape Town restaurant) returning to the group as manager of the Joburg branch.

The menu will be familiar to Pot Luck fans, starting with a bread course, as well as family favourites - a selection of Pot Luck’s greatest hits. In addition, the menu also includes some other bestsellers, which come with a unique twist for discerning Joburg diners. These include the beef tataki, served with a fresh spring onion dressing and roast garlic aioli, as well as the line fish which swims in saffron cream with a tamarind dressing and a complementing basil mint salad. A sure highlight is the Mexican-inspired pork belly, though. It comes with a soft-shell taco, ancho chili dressing and beautiful pineapple salsa.

This new addition to Joburg’s dining scene also has a dedicated Cold Bar from which they serve oysters with a Vietnamese-style Nuoc Cham dressing, or line fish ceviche dressed with the kick of a classic ‘tiger’s milk’.

Of course, the restaurant also has a carefully curated list of wines from boutique South African cellars. Signature Pot Luck daiquiris, martinis and sake-based cocktails are also on the list.

The Pot Luck Club Johannesburg has an edgy urban elegance that is a perfect fit for Joburg-based foodies. It is open for lunch from 12:30 to 14:00 and dinner from 18:00 to 21:00, Monday through to Saturday. @thepotluckclubjohannesburg
