NOFRLLS NO FRLLS is a community that features androgynous/unisex/gender-neutral clothing. The term “No Frills was originally used in supermarkets, and considered at the bottom of the manufacturer chain because it would just be a white box with the name of the product on it, but still carried a good product inside its box.

How NOFRLLS Began Interview with Chanelle Henry, founder of NOFRLLS
H
ow did you come up with NOFRLLS? So this is a pretty big answer. NOFRLLS first came to my mind as
a jean line that I wanted to produce. I actually wanted to follow down the
trail of the HBO show How to Make it in America, it was something about
studying jeans and trying to figure out how to that relaxed look that could
fit the hips of a woman. I thought it
would be pretty dope to create a whole line, but knew the amount of work it would take so I thought... Why not
create something that involves a site like Fab or Everlane that features
curated clothing and accessories site
that features androgynous/unisex/gen-
der-neutral clothing. Men and women
alike should have a place where they feel they “fit”.
The term “No Frills” was originally used in supermarkets, and consid-
ered at the bottom of the manufac-
turer chain because it would just be a white box with the name of the product on it, but still carried a good product inside its box... I felt that we shouldn’t feel forced to feel to “fit
in”. We all have a place, or we create one. NO FRLLS will soon feature
handpicked stores and stylists, fash-
ion blogs, and independent stores that feature items that you are interested So you feel that NOFRLLS fills the gap PAGE 4
world?
Yeah, I feel like you walk into a
store, or even go online and you are
able to see fashion blogs for men and

of what is missing from the fashion
women, but not too many in between.
I think this will be that answer for those that dress in between.
Do you have experience in fashion?
Not too much, I mean I used to sew, a skirt here, and some fixes there, but never anything that I think I would
wear today [laughs]. I feel like I am
always photog stalking people by taking pictures of good fashion on the
streets of NYC and posting them up on Instagram.
So who inspires you? Who do you follow in fashion?
I love Ellen Degeneres’ style. I feel
like it’s a perfect blend of androgynous and swank. I love the brands of
Marimacho Brooklyn, Android Homme, and Original Tomboy.
What do you see for the future and vi-
sion of NOFRLLS?
I want people who are interested in this genre of clothing to see us as the leaders of the curation of this market. I see us really capturing a
great audience from Pavo (hellopavo. com), and taking the market by storm by truly defining the Grey Area of
Fashion.
