Shadow in the stark Traveller’s Home

This project is based in Velavadar Black Buck scantuary, Gujarat. This abode offers a contrast of cool en vironment and Semi-open Nature ex posure.

The main highlight that makes this space perfect for Traveller’s hault is its Element of accessibility and is of transition between different spaces.

The Crockery Store

Beyond Detail

Siramika, as the name defines, is a Crockery Store intended to serve as a luxurious brand, based in Ahmed abad.

The Brand motive is to serve wealthy individuals with their fine ceramic products which can not only be used as products to eat in, but also as Aes thetic decorative pieces.

Branding has been a part of the proj ect where The Logo of the brand de fines its meaning of how a pot and a plate can be arranged in a way which pleases one’s eye. The Curve of the Pot in the logo gives an impres sion of the alphabet “S”, which is fur ther followed by the store Plan layout & Paneling.

for what she want. She enters the storewhere a security guard is standing welcoming and greeting her. She puts her feet on the floor and notices how the flooring gives a rich offwhite finished look. She sees a curved display followed by another parallel display. She follows the pathway created by the display just to realize the flooring has changed.

As the path ends, she reaches the central point of the store. She sees a very richly decorated and secured display zone which says “Elite collection”. Apparently, the Elite collection is a one of a kind collection whos available quantity is only 10 globally. The wife stops by and looks at the products but going around and admiring it. The offwhite flushed light from beneath and the sand arranged in small voids enhances the product look. The product is placed over the sand which makes the wife visualize how she could also use their dinnerware sets as Decor elements in her house. Goes further and finds a wall attached display full of same sized pots with different designs on it. She stands there and searches for a design which she might like. An employee reaches her and asks her the designs she is interested in, or what shape and size she wants her product to be.

The employee first shows her their elite collection and then proceeds to take her to the customer service corner. The other employee serves her juice and explains what products they serve, what is their user policy, what they can get as customized, what is the warranty and what kind of de signs and art styles are being used in the products. The wife is more clear now on what to buy and look for so she asks to get to see french styled dinnerware along with the japanese styled dinnerware.

The employee took her to the display zone where japanese and french dinnerwares are used to create the aesthetic. She sees how the products are placed and decorated in the zones with furniture having function which uses kinetic sand and water to make them look interesting.

She selects two dinnerware sets and proceeds to pay where she finds a small stall filled with rich fabrics used for decoration purposes with the dinnerware sets. She selects one set of 6 fabrics and pays for them. The employee brings three sturdy boxes which have a folding mechanism where the logo of the brand is engraved on the top. The wife leaves the store with a smile on her face

The design intent was to create a space which allows the users to ac cess the building from three different directions since the site is placed in CEPT campus. The space Follows the curve of the Amphitheatre but by playing with angled geometry which follows a symmetrical form. The sym metric form is used as an example and further used to design the Fa cade and other elements of the Art Gallery. The entire space is purely Made out of Teak wood joineries.

The studio Indetail : Open makes took place during The peak of Covid - 19 qurantine. The intent was to create a stool which would help the user in such time. The Design of the stool was extracted from a geometrical shape which is Truncated tetrahedron. Dif ferent types of making techniques were tried over the shape to achieve its final stable form.

The stool user is a 10 - 15 Year old stu dent who has to attend online classes where the user doesnt want to sleep during the classes and aslo want to sit in an ergonomically correct stool.

TOUCHPOINTS

HOODe as the brand name, I focused on the pain point of the Helmet users and created a brand targeting a niche group of people. I studied the typography of the potential buyers by which i created and placed necessary touchpoints on specific locations.

Touch point : Spotify Ads (GIF + Audio)

When one thinks of Spotify they immediately think of the vast music collection on the app. But one pain point associated with spotify are its ads, they are extremely disruptive & mostly irrelevant. Hoode intends to change that by creating relevant ads that are non-disruptive in nature.

1. The banner of the ad is straight forward showing the Logo, a gif of a helmet with an equalizer (in spired by Daft punk), and a bluetooth icon.

2. The banner states the fact that this is a link to cu rated playlists by Hoode which keeps you within the Spotify app, leaving no scope for pop-ups.

3. The voiceover of the ad states interesting (& fun facts about your city in song units. For example: “Did you know, it takes 4.5 Zingagts to reach the Airport from Helmet Char Rasta? To Jhing Jhingaat till there, tap on the Hoode, now!”

Touch point 1.: Youtube / TV Ad:

The ad starts with a typical urban street setup containing dense traffic waiting for the signal to turn green. The scene shows many people on two wheelers as well as four wheelers along with a zoomed in frame on a signal timer that is counting down to 0. As each second passes, the traffic noise ascends into higher decibels showing the visible frustration of the public. As the timer runs close to zero, all the noises come to a complete stop.

The absence of any sound brings the viewer’s complete attention onto the screen which then shows a rider with the Hood? product. The rider goes on to click the button wherein the screen fades to black and a simple message is shown: “Bluetooth Connected.”

As this message is seen on the screen the audio then starts playing an iconic bollywood song (in this case, “Hawayein’).

Switch to the next frame.

The ad switches its entire backdrop, right after the black screen. An empty road with serene, beautiful, hilly landscapes set the tone for adventure, happiness, calmness. The main focus is now on the protagonist who is enjoying every bit of his ride with a very apt yet soothing score playing in the background. The scene ends with the protagonist riding away into the horizon while the screen fades to black again as the music continues to play.

Switch to the next frame.

As the music plays, there is only one item on the black screen. Its a helmet with a music visualizer on its visor syncing with the song. The screen shows the message that this was a Bluetooth enabled motorcycle helmet. As the music flows, the frame changes to show that the song “Now playing” is “Hawayein”.

As the music is slowly about to fade away, the “Now playing” stays on the screen while the Hood® logo replaces the song title.

Empathy Based Innovative Idea

Helmets have conventionally been a “Safety” product. A pain point associ ated with helmets are their lack of compatibility with earphones/head phones. The idea was to create a prod uct that would be completely integrat ed with the mobile phone. This would en able the user to listen to music while rid ing, navigate, and pick or reject calls as per their convenience.

Development of Idea

The first step in developing this idea was to simply create a bluetooth enabled helmet which would act like an extension of your phone. The product had to be “tech-friendly” without com promising the safety aspect of the helmet. Later it was found that multiple pain points of the helmet can only be solved with features likes sunshield, pillion rider communication, offered through “add-ons” to keep the base pricing affordable.
