JACKIE MORRIS 2015 CALENDAR
About Jackie Morris Jackie Morris is an author, illustrator, photographer and painter. She lives in a small house beside the sea with dogs, cats and spiders, because she has always preferred colouring in to housework. She has illustrated many books, for children aged 0 to no longer alive (and has a strong belief in picture books being for all ages). Years ago she was asked by Help Musicians UK to design a Christmas card for them, and since then has designed one a year for about fourteen years. The cards have travelled all over the world. Her latest books are Cat Walk, with words and images by Jackie (photoraphs) and Something About a Bear, published by Janetta OtterBarry Books. Jackie loves to walk, swim in the sea, talk to cats and while she paints she listens to music. You can view more of Jackie’s work at jackiemorris.co.uk
Help Musicians UK Help Musicians UK is the leading UK charity for professional musicians, from starting out through to retirement. Formerly the Musicians Benevolent Fund, we help promising young artists to improve their skills and get started in the profession, existing professionals who hit a crisis in their lives, such as accident or illness and we help musicians in retirement and those needing special help as they grow older. We exist not just for the people we help, but for everyone who enjoys music and wants to see a thriving music culture in the UK. If you need our help or know someone who does, get in touch. If you love music and want to help the people who make it, please support our work and find out more at helpmusicians.org.uk For 14 years, artist Jackie Morris has kindly donated her time by creating illustrations exclusively for Help Musicians UK. In this calendar, Jackie gives an insight into her imagination by pairing her illustrations with carefully chosen words that take us into the enchanting worlds she has created. We are grateful for Jackie’s ongoing support and generosity.

The great cat always loved these intimate times of traveling, pulling the musical cart across a snow covered land, while white hares ran. He could smell the beautiful scent of the jasmine tea that the women had brewed.

Owl rode on the back of the tiger through the twilight gold, waiting to fly. A musician strummed on the strings of a instrument made from wood and from love. The white hare loped slowly home to find shelter. All was peaceful in the cold air of evening.

Help Musicians UK makes a crucial difference to the lives and careers of thousands of musicians every year. If you’d like to help us support even more, there are many ways of getting involved. You can: Fundraise for us - whether you raise £50 from a quiz, £500 by putting on a concert or £5000 running a marathon, every penny will help. Join our Friend Scheme, a special group of supporters who want to help musicians long-term. You can become a Help Musicians UK Friend by setting up a regular gift for as little as £5 a month. Give in memory of a loved one - tributes can be as simple as collecting donations at a funeral instead of buying flowers, or celebrating a life through a musical event. Leave a gift in your will to make a meaningful investment in the future of music and musicians. Visit shop.helpmusicians.org.uk - browse our online shop for a range of Help Musicians UK products, Christmas cards (from September 2015) and gifts, with all proceeds going directly to musicians.
