1. Spraygun The objective of this project was to design a spraygun for the Swedish leisure boat market. The project was carried out for Gardena, who presently produce sprayguns for garden usage. The project duration was four weeks and initial research was carried out as a group project.

Weight Ergonomics of current spray gun designs were evaluated trough a user study.
Sketch models of new concepts were developed based on current products. Ergonomic features from literature was applied to the models who later was tested on users within the target group.

User testing. Feedback for the concepts were generated by letting a group of five potential users interact with foam models representing each concept category. The concept sketches were pinned to a wall and evaluated together with Gardena’s design manager. All feedback was used to create new refined concept variations. A scale model was built for the final spraygun design.

The final concept has a lever as flow control. User testing proved this to be a preferable solution since it only require one hand for interaction.

2. Scrapwood Stool This four week project was my entry to the Green Furniture Awards 2013. The objective was to design an environmentally sustainable piece of furniture. The project was done together with one of my designer collegues over a period of five weeks. Ume, a scrapwood stool, was the final outcome. The furniture piece is for public and private spaces such as cafĂŠs, restaurants or hotel lobbies.
Objective: Design an environmentally sustainable piece of furniture using scrap wood.
Research. The first stage of this task was to conduct research into sustainable methods of furniture production. We delved into various new and innovative methods of wood manufacture. One area that really sparked our interest was up-cycled scrapwood and the possibilities to create new products with market value from old materials with little to no market value. Up-cycled scrapwood, is old pieces of various types of wood, which can be sourced for a very low price or even free from various places. Such as municipal waste bins at lumber stores, city dump sites, lumber manufacturing facilities, construction or demolition sites or carpenter’s scraps. The scrapwood can be sourced from sources such as municipal solid waste sites, dumps or from the residues of lumber manufacturing facilities. For this project the source was scrapwood pieces left in municipal waste bins at landfills or hardware stores that had no further market value but could still be up-cycled into furniture pieces.

Ideation.
Assembly. The scrapwood stool can be assembled without any screws or nails. Thanks to the design of the construction, only water based glue can be used keep the parts in place.
Product lifecycle. 2 Manufacturing Pieces of scrap wood are glued together to make up the seat. Legs and brackets are milled and sanded.
1 Material Wood used in this stool can be obtained from lumber manufacturers as scrap wood. Pieces are put together and make up the stool seat. Other pieces are made from FSC certified birch wood.
3 Transportation All pieces can be detached and packed in a Flat-pack which can be transported with ease.
5 Disposal After many uses and a long and fruitful life, the stool can easily be turned into compost or biofuel. Companies such as All Miljรถ AB can provide this type of service. The stool does not contain any hazardous chemicals and is biodegradable.
4 Usage The stool is durable and can be used for a long time, either in private public spaces.
Geometric and triangular in appearance, Ume expresses the cyclic stages of material birth, use and recycling. The visual language of the stool emphasizes the beauty of upcycled wood grains and colours against a sturdy set of legs made from sustainable woods. Easy to assemble and transport, the stool can be used in a variety of public and private environments. The stools can come in two finishes, zero VOC Black or Sanded Birch.
3. Electric Scissors The goal of this four week project was to design an electric scissors for the elderly under the brand Alessi. The project had a special focus on ergonomics in the design to enable users to focus on their hobbies. The final design is an electric scissors with wrist support that can slide over the table to avoid lifting when used.
Objective: Design and electric scissor for elderly that expresses the Alessi brand.
Research. Target Group
The design is aimed at elderly men and women interested in hand crafts such as sewing. Aching joints and osteoarthritis that comes with age is common in this market segment.
Design Criteria.
Using a scissors to cut fabric and other material is particularly troublesome while experiencing these afflictions.

4. Speed Bike In this individual project I set out to design a motorbike inspired by the shape and movement of a shark. My aim was to reflect the sleek shape of the aquatic animal. The project lasted for about a week and consisted of form exploration trough sketches.
5. Token The aim of this project is to make digital library resources visible and appealing to visitors of the Arts Campus Library, very much like physical products are displayed in a shop window. The final design is developed to fit a designated physical space in the library. This project was carried out in a group of three and lasted three weeks.
Objective: Design a fun and interactive interface for display and advertising of digita library resources.

Research. The first task in this project was to create an understanding of the user needs within the library environment. As a team, we spent time in the library talking to visitors and the librarians. Visitors are mainly students from the art campus. The Arts Campus Library provides its users with access to a vast range of digital content. A major issue is, however, that this material is not effectively marketed to the library visitors. This results in users being unaware which leads to underutilization of library resources. Today’s library has a growing collection of digital publications. Trough the library, users can digitally access a wide variety of e-books, journals, articles, databases, research publications, and physical books.

Final concept. The final concept is a screen based interface where visitors can get a quick overview of the library’s digital resources. The interface responds to ten individual physical tokens, representing the different subject categories at the Arts Campus Library. Users start a session by placing one of the tokens on the screen. When the token is recognized a collage of articles, videos, and other digital resources appear. This content is compiled by the librarians to make up an interesting collection representing digital resources related to a particular subject. Up to three tokens can be placed on the screen simultaneously, which creates a collage made up of resources from three different subject categories.

Interface. 1. The tokens are placed on designated areas of the screen to determine which topic will be viewed.

TOKEN 5. Material bookmarked during the session can be accessed under this button. 2. After placing the token on the screen a collage created by the librarians consisting of selected articles, e-books, and video clips appears. The user can access the material by simply touching it.
3. The user can access more information by swiping the collage to the right. 6. The user can also view popular bookmarks and see what items have been bookmarked the most by all other users.
Concept refinement. The final concept was refined by letting a number of potential users interact with a true scale mockup of the screen. Mockups of physical tokens were made from painted foam. The user testing helped improving the placement of some of the buttons as well as the logical sequence between different screens. The presentation of the tokens to the user was also discussed during this stage. Some kind of display shelf in front of the screen would probably be the best solution for this purpose.

6. Car interior The aim of this three week long project was to design part of an interior for a car, based on the design language of an external brand. A selection of Samsung products was chosen as the source of inspiration for this interior. Sketching and styling was the main objective during this task. User studies and physical prototyping were therefore left out.
