Together, we determine what it will take to support their people, the work they perform, and the tools they need. We make sure that every element works together to achieve a full design solution. We seek to elevate the experience of work. As Herman Miller founder D.J. De Pree once said, “Great design is not just good business, it’s a moral obligation.” We take that obligation very seriously.

HISTORY
YO U C A N T E L L A LOT A B O U T A C O M PA N Y B Y W H E R E I T L I V E S The largest contract commercial interiors dealer in the Intermountain West, Henriksen Butler is committed to community and has selected showroom spaces that reflect and preserve the region’s unique cultural heritage. Salt Lake City Corporate Headquarters Henriksen Butler’s corporate office is in a 126-year-old former Jewish synagogue. The historic B’Nai Israel
23
(Sons of Israel) Synagogue was dedicated in 1891 and was occupied until 1976. Even though it had been run down and neglected for many years, HB’s founders knew this historic Salt Lake City gem could be saved. With a little daring, a lot of vision, and tons of TLC, that’s exactly what they did, transforming the synagogue while preserving its original stained-glass windows.
24
HB Showrooms pictured above: Salt Lake City (top left), Boise (top right), St George (middle right), Reno (bottom right), Las Vegas (bottom left)
Boise - Originally built in 1939 to house the American Legion Hall, this building is an important piece of historic architecture in downtown Boise. We worked with local architects to preserve and restore the character of this Art Deco/Art Moderne style building. This embedded history creates interesting juxtapositions with the contemporary furnishings and provides a rich landscape for daily work. Las Vegas - Dating back to 1955, this unique building served as the neighborhood market followed by many years as the Gambler’s Book Shop. Notorious Las Vegas characters including John Gotti frequented the shop. After falling into disrepair, the vacant space needed serious TLC. Working with the developer, HB completely transformed the building—revealing its bow truss ceiling, opening its skylights, and adding windows, an outdoor patio, and unique aesthetic details.
25
Reno - Built in 1936 as a chiropractic clinic and private urban residence, at 80 years old, this space simply gets better with age. Now occupying the second floor of this historic building, Henriksen Butler has fully renovated the interior while preserving its original character including raw steel beams and bare brick throughout. Ample windows afford full natural light and lively views of the downtown Reno business district and Truckee River. St. George - HB Southern Utah is unique in that it has both a dedicated furniture and flooring division. Our space functions as both a showroom and warehouse and is a welcome retreat for designers, architects, builders and end users to explore, contemplate and design.
