Each section within the Rec Sports department is designated a primary color and a secondary color palette to be used in all major designs, marketing materials, and other related content in the ways outlined in this guide.


GUIDELINES > Generally, design schemes should be monochromatic following the color schemes designated in each department’s primary color palette. > The primary color palette is best used for background materials, large shapes and areas of color, and titles. > The secondary color palette is best used sparingly and to the judgement of the designer to highlight important information in the design. > Titles should be in a shade of the department’s primary color or black or white.

Typography hierarchy and font use should follow the guidelines designated in this document to provide uniformity across all Rec Sports materials.


GUIDELINES > All Text Should follow the font hierarchy laid out in this document. > The Carpenter Black should only be used in large point sizes and should be used sparingly in designs. It should also be restricted to no more than a single phrase.

> Times New Roman is the University’s accepted font and can be used when applicable (on some, but not all formal publications). > General font size should be kept at 8pt. or above, 16pt. for The Carpenter font.

A-O > Departments > Specific subdivisions of Rec Sports, as distinguished in the Color section. Sometimes referred to as Program Areas. *names should always be capitalized (Fitness, Intramural Sports, etc.) > Divisions > Separation of competition levels within a league. > Leagues > Division of sports by gender. > Member > Any person (student, public, etc.) with access to Rec Sports via a purchased membership. > ‘Open’ > Refers to either a division or a league that does not need to be divided by competition levels or gender, respectively, in order to be played fairly. *all lowercase names (basketball, soccer, etc.)
