Interviews can be a hard and stressful experience for most people. If you just got yourself a job interview, then think that you must have made a good impression with your CV and that the company you’re applying for has seen something interesting in it. Being prepared is key to getting that dream job, so take a look at the following tips and get ready to nail your next interview!

1. DO SOME RESEARCH Find out about the most usual questions asked during interviews. Do your research on the company, visit its site and try to learn as much as possible about it. Find out about the company’s competitors, and try to look for recent news related to the industry so you can show your knowledge during the interview. Be ready to spend some hours doing research, this might be one of the most important parts of the process. The more you know, the more confident you will be in front of your interviewer.

2. PRACTICE Practice the answers to the most typical questions, prepare them well and keep in mind that they might be adapted to the requirements of the job you’re applying for. Think how your previous experience can relate to the vacancy the company is offering. Videotape yourself and watch your performance, it is a great way to evaluate your body language and voice and see how you can improve them.

3. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE LOOKS!

Study the most appropriate outfit for the interview depending on the kind of job you’re applying for. Finance or accountancy jobs usually require a more formal appearance than creative jobs. Pay a visit to your hair salon and invest in some nice new clothes. Do your research on current trends but mainly be yourself and incorporate your own personal style. A first good impression when you enter the room can add to the final decision of the interviewer.

4. LEAVE EVERYTHING READY Make sure everything is ready the day before the interview. Check the company location and leave for the interview with enough time. It is appropriate to be at the company 15-10min before the time set, you’ll show the interviewer that you’re punctual and that you really want to that job.

5. STAY CALM Try to have a nice rest the night before the interview. If you feel nervous, then try some relaxation exercises before you enter the room. While you’re been asked questions try to stay as calm as possible, pay attention and listen to the entire question before you answer. Try to keep eye contact with the interviewer, this will show you’re confident and not nervous about the situation.

6. AFTER THE INTERVIEW When the interviewer has finished asking questions, he or she will probably ask if you have any doubt. It is your time to express your interest for the job vacancy. Ask questions that show your interest in the company, you can also ask some general questions regarding to the job but try to avoid any question related to the salary. When the interview is over, wait for the interviewer to stand up and say good bye with a firm handshake and a smile.
