We all love that feeling… Of finding a really great restaurant. But what if you go travelling and have a craving for your favourite dish? That’s where restaurant chains come in – no matter where you go, you can be sure there is a branch nearby that will do your favourite dish. And no – we’re not talking McDonalds or KFC here – we’re talking proper food. Here’s some of our favourites:
The Slug and Lettuce is a pub restaurant chain with various branches around the country. What’s on the menu? Posh pub grub including pies, burgers, curries and pasta. We love: That it’s also a bar – so you can get a decent glass of wine or a nice cocktail while you’re dining.
Everybody knows Pizza Hut, the go-to place for all of your pizza-based needs! What’s on the menu? Er… pizza? And also, pasta. Do you remember when they tried to change their name to Pasta Hut? The less said about that, the better… We love: The fact that you get unlimited salad with every main meal.
Like Italian food? Then you’ll love Prezzo. What’s on the menu? A mouth watering selection of pizzas, pastas and other Italian fayre. We love: The light menu, where everything is under 600 calories. Ideal if you’re watching the ol’ waistline.
Wagamama is Japanese for ‘self-indulgence’, but the chain is actually more focused on serving nutritious food – not that we care – it’s pretty delicious anyway! What’s on the menu? Noodles and other Japanese treats such as Katsu curry and gyoza dumplings. We love: Kare – noodles in a coconut based soup, served with either chicken, prawns or tofu.
What’s on the menu? As if the name didn’t give it away, the Gourmet Burger Kitchen makes weird and wonderful burgers in all shapes and forms: beef, chicken, buffalo and even vegetarian bean burgers. As long as it’s round and fits in a bun, they’ll have it here. We love: The buffalo burger (£9.95). Very flavoursome and low in fat, it’s ideal if you are looking for something a bit different.
Giraffe specialises in freshly cooked food in a relaxed atmosphere with good music. What’s on the menu? A wide selection of burgers, steaks, salads and global dishes such as noodles and burritos. We love: the ‘Feel Good’ dinner menu, where you can get two courses for only £9.95. Bargain!
Save Money While You’re Dining What we love most about these chains is that they often have special offers on the go – check their websites for details. You can also get money off vouchers from sites such as myvouchercodes.co.uk or vouchercodes.co.uk. You can also get a dining card membership like Hi-Life Diners Club (which you can get for free if you take out home insurance with Confused.com)or The Gourmet Society.
