PRODUCT TESTIMONIAL
The perfect microscope and exemplary customer service When associate dentist, Natalia Lozano Casal asked Henry Schein Dental to help her purchase a dental operating microscope, she was delighted with their response

hen I started my MSc in Endodontics at the University of Chester, it was obvious to me early on that I would require better magnification than I could achieve with my dental loupes. We were introduced to dental operating microscopes on the course and I could immediately see the benefit of the extra magnification and the directed light that eliminates shadows and allows clear visibility into the root canals. I had just made the decision to purchase my own microscope when lockdown hit and made it impossible to take any action. However, by the end of January this year, I couldn’t wait any longer and decided to purchase a ZEISS EXTARO 300 surgical microscope.
The perfect solution I chose ZEISS because they are wellknown worldwide for the quality of their optics and because, as the manufacturer of my loupes, I was familiar with the brand. I had also compared their microscopes with others at dental shows and found a clear difference in quality. I chose the EXTARO 300 for the range of features it has, which help with both diagnosis and handling. When performing root canal treatments with my loupes, I was often hampered by shadows caused by the direction of light from the dental chair and the light attached to my loupes. The EXTARO 300’s cross-polarised and natural light modes eliminate those shadows and I can adjust the strength of the light as needed, without adversely affecting the patient with uncomfortable glare. It also has fluorescent light to aid diagnosis of disease and to reveal any existing restorative materials and a TrueLight mode which prevents premature polymerisation of light curing composites.
My other key issue with loupes was my working position. I experienced neck and back pain daily because I was unable to work ergonomically. I knew that a microscope would solve this issue for me and since its installation, I’ve not had a single twinge! With the current increased need to wear PPE, I was also finding the extra weight of my loupes on top of everything else very tiring; now I use my microscope instead. The EXTARO 300 can be operated singlehandedly which is extremely useful. This
means I can operate with one hand and adjust the magnifcation, focus and light with the other. It also has something called a MORA interface, which allows me to move the microscope from side to side without changing my position. The result? I am performing better root canal treatment, it’s easier to diagnose and make decisions on the best treatment and I am working ergonomically. I have connected the microscope to my chairside screen, which means my patients can see their own clinical situation and understand why I am recommending a specific treatment, which also improves treatment uptake.
A very happy customer I purchased the ZEISS EXTARO 300 through Henry Schein Dental and I’m so glad I did. From the outset, their customer service was excellent. I was put in touch with equipment specialist, Kai Turck, who gave me all the information I required about the microscope and answered all my questions, which were many! Although not the biggest investment in dental equipment, it is a significant one for an associate, so I wanted to be sure I was making the right choice. Kai introduced me to Fiona Legge, Henry Schein Connect Sales Specialist in my area. She was also extremely helpful and very patient with my weekly emails asking about the status of my order. Henry Schein Financial Services helped me to arrange finance, and again, the responsiveness and personal care they gave me was exemplary. Possibly the most impressive service provided to me was when Henry Schein

flew over a product specialist from ZEISS in Germany to train me on how to use the installed microscope. This expert help was invaluable and I count myself as very lucky to have had that opportunity. Henry Schein Dental’s aftersales service has been excellent too. I had problems connecting my camera with the microscope. I contacted them for the correct settings to enable the equipment to work together and they responded quickly to sort it out. Overall, my whole experience has been amazing and I cannot recommend the company highly enough! I thought I would use my dental operating microscope just for root canal treatments, but I find myself using it for everything, even routine check-ups. I would recommend investing to anyone, not just for clinical reasons, but also for their health. Since starting to use mine, it feels like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders; I can maintain my posture and nothing hurts anymore... I cannot imagine practising dentistry now without the EXTARO 300!
