Various regional chambers, including the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce, are working together to advocate for a common agenda with key members of the Illinois General Assembly. Based on a survey of its members, important issues across the region that will be discussed are: • Public pension reform • Minimum wage increase • Timely payment of bills • Workers’ compensation reform According to a survey recently conducted of its members by the Decatur Chamber of Commerce, over 88 percent of respondents oppose a minimum wage increase, citing such an increase would essentially destroy the local economy and force many local businesses to shut down entirely. The cost to participate in the CIRCLE event is $35 per person and includes breakfast, a luncheon, issue briefings and delegate materials. For more information, call the Chamber at (217) 422-2200.
