Certification advances Bell’s single-engine aircraft to support US Navy Trainer Replacement Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued an Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Bell 407GXi. The certification is a requirement for the Navy Advanced Helicopter Training System competition, enabling the Bell 407GXi to replace the Bell TH-57 Sea Ranger as the US Navy's training helicopter. Bell's replacement bid offers a unique combination of capability, ease of transition, and low sustainment costs, giving the best value to the Navy. Should the Bell 407GXi be selected for the US Navy Advanced Helicopter Trainer program, the company plans to conduct final assembly of the aircraft in Ozark, Alabama. “The team did a great job ensuring the Bell 407GXi achieved the FAA’s IFR certification necessary to meet all of the Navy’s requirements,” said Mitch Snyder, president and CEO. “Bell is an instrumental part of the Navy’s training program and has been for more than 50 years, and we look forward to continuing the tradition for the next generation of Naval Aviators.” A Bell to Bell transition offers low-risk to the Navy by streamlining instructor pilot and maintainer transition training as well as using common support equipment and infrastructure. The 407 airframe has already proven capabilities as the platform for the MQ-8C Fire Scout for the US Navy. Vietnamese flag carrier to put largest Dreamliner on some of the world's busiest destinations 787-10 is the most efficient twin-aisle jet flying today and can cover more than 95 percent of twin-aisle routes Boeing [NYSE: BA] delivered the first of eight 787-10 Dreamliner airplanes to Vietnam Airlines today via lease from Air Lease Corporation [NYSE: AL]. The Vietnamese flag carrier plans to put the 787-10 – the most fuel-efficient twin-aisle airplane in the industry – on the busiest routes in its expanding network. "Welcoming the largest member of the 787 family to our growing fleet ensures we continue to boast one of the youngest and most modern fleets in Asia and also adds a
competitive edge to Vietnam Airlines' operations. The 787-10 is longer than the 787-9, providing the space to carry 40 more passengers and more cargo and helping it offer the lowest operating costs per seat of any twinaisle jet in service today. Vietnam Airlines is outfitting its 787-10 models with 367 seats (24 in business class and 343 in economy class). In addition to its size and fuel efficiency, the 787-10 can cover long distances. With a published range of 6,430 nautical miles (11,910 km), the 787-10 can fly more than 95 percent of the world's twinaisle routes. As the Boeing 737 Max enters its sixth month of worldwide grounding, the question remains; when will the plane take to the skies again? After two fatal crashes saw the plane grounded by regulators across the globe, airlines operating Boeing’s groundbreaking plane began to black out scheduled flights on the Max until July, then August, and now September. (MHI) has taken the decision to establish a new factory within its Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works to manufacture aero engine parts. MHI is anticipating continued growth of its aero engine business, , and in establishing the new facility the Company looks to strengthen its global competitiveness by developing a highly advanced engine parts production line, to grow aero engines into one of MHI Group's core businesses. Construction is slated to get underway this October, with initial production targeted to start in 2020 and be incrementally expanded thereafter.

The new factory will be constructed as the Nagasaki Works of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Aero Engines, Ltd. (MHIAEL), an aero engine business arm of MHI Group. It will be located at the former site of the Propeller Factory (Ship Propeller Factory) adjacent to the Nagasaki Shipyard Museum (former Pattern Shop), a World Heritage Site. MHIAEL will play a part in the redevelopment of the Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works area, aiming to be a plant that inherits the history of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. "From the Past - To the Present - To the Future". The new factory will be built equipped with a fully integrated production line from material receiving to machining and assembly for combustor parts. To achieve precision and high quality standards required for aero engines, the new factory will adopt today's most advanced machine tools. Meanwhile, to achieve an aero engine parts factory of world-class efficiency, MHIAEL will actively introduce automation and manpower saving technologies, such as automated material handling, tool changing, as well as IoT and AI technologies cultivated at its mother factory. MHI group today are aggressively undertaking business expansion and production system improvements in response to growing global demand for aero engines for commercial aircraft and construction of the new factory is part of this initiative. Measures are also being accelerated to expand business in aero engine MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul). At MHIAEL's Head Office Main Plant in Aichi Prefecture, preparations are moving steadily forward to launch new engine MROservices. Saab has signed a supply contract with the Belgian MoD for the deliveries of training systems to the Belgian Army. The order value is approximately SEK 160 million and deliveries will take place in 2021.
The contract includes providing a complete training centre with infantry simulators, anti-tank simulators, vehicle systems and communication systems for controlling, monitoring and collecting training data to enable detailed analysis of exercises. The support contract will be negotiated separately later on. One of the requirements was interoperability with NATO, and with Saab’s training system Belgium will be capable of participating in multinational exercises. “This means Belgium will share the same standards as members in the Interoperability User Community (IUC). They can therefore take part in multinational exercises together with, among others, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the UK and the US 7thArmy,” says Åsa Thegström, head of the business unit Training & Simulation within Saab’s business area Dynamics. “The Belgian Army has used our training systems for the last four years and have clearly seen the benefits of realistic training. This order strengthens our position as one of the world’s leading suppliers of solutions for combat training,” says Henrik Vassallo, head of the country unit France & Benelux within Saab’s market area Europe. The business unit Training & Simulation develops, manufactures and markets advanced military training equipment, such as laser simulator systems, instrumented training systems and target equipment. The Technology Group, Rheinmetall, is systematically supplementing its automotiveproduct portfolio in the direction of new driveline systems. In addition to products for electric vehicles, current development efforts include components for alternative powertrains, such as the fuel cell. Within this context, Rheinmetall Automotive is developing a recirculation fan for hydrogen not yet consumed within the fuel cell stacks, special coolant pumps for 400 and 800 voltages, and electric valves. Through its subsidiary Pierburg, the Group has now won an order from a well-known German vehicle manufacturer. Pierburg is supplying the electric cathode valves that will in future be used in fuel-cell vehicles built by this premium manufacturer. This innovative generation of electric flap systems was developed at the Pierburg site in Berlin and will be used to control the fresh and exhaust air mass flows as well as for the extremely tight shut-off of the fuel cell stacks. Production of the vehicles is scheduled to start in 2022. In this project, Pierburg is able to benefit from its many years of experience as a developer and manufacturer of throttle and control valves, especially since its first fuelcell cathode valves were developed several years ago. In view of the meanwhile broad capacity range of fuel-cell stacks and the resulting air mass requirements, cathode valves with a diameter of up to 57 millimeters were developed in addition to a very compact and light all-plastic valve with a weight of only 300 grams and a bore diameter of 25 millimeters. The cathode valves can thus provide air volumes of up to 750 kg/hour and absolute charging pressures of up to 400 kPa. The materials specially selected and combined for this application guarantee the necessary resistance to hydrogen as well as high-purity water. The new cathode valve contains an electric-motor drive with plenty of reserve power. On the water-enriched exhaust-air side of the cathode, it offers the necessary operational reliability so that no functional impairments can occur even under frost conditions. For use as a stack isolation valve, a number of features have been developed especially with regard to micro leakage, including, the use of a high-stability elastomer for such sealing purposes.

Prin participarea la Misiunea Multidimensională Integrată ONU de Stabilizare în Republica Mali (MINUSMA) cu patru elicoptere IAR-330 Puma, România se alătură demersurilor Organizației Națiunilor Unite în asistarea Guvernului Republicii Mali pentru continuarea punerii în aplicare a Acordului de Pace, protecția civililor și împiedicarea reîntoarcerii elementelor armate ostile în zonele populate.
