*note, for patients who rely on cannabis for quality of life and severe symptom relief, tolerance breaks should be used with caution. Nutter Butter Swirl Into Sublime by Amy Lee

Nut-butters are some of the easiest household pantry items to infuse with cannabis and one of the most delicious! Nut butter is perfect for snacking with celery, apples, carrots, pretzels, and more! This recipe calls for peanut butter but can easily be replaced with any nut butter of your choice.

Hemp or full-spectrum nut butter is an amazing cannabinoid delivery food due to the healthy fat content and high fiber for better absorption and bioavailability within the body. Implementing 1-2 tablespoons of cannabis-infused nut butter to your daily routine provides a variety of cannabinoids, protein, fi ber, vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats for healthy bodily function while also supporting the activation within the endocannabinoid system.

This recipe provides a quick rich and delicious single-serving peanut butter chocolate brownie under 10 minutes! *You may use any infused nut-butter for this recipe.

Ingredients: 1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil Melted 2 Tablespoons Pure Maple Syrup ¼ Teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract 1 Tablespoon Cocoa Powder 3 Tablespoons Gluten-Free Flour (or flour of choice) 1 Teaspoon Vegan Mini Chocolate Chips (Enjoy Life - brand) 1-2 Tablespoons Infused Peanut Butter Dash of salt

Directions: In a small bowl combine coconut oil, maple syrup, and vanilla Add Cocoa powder, flour, and salt until combined Stir in chocolate chips Line ramekin with parchment paper strips to remove brownie when done cooking or spray muffin pan Pour batter into ramekin or muffin pan Dollop infused peanut butter into center or brownie, slightly swirl through the top Bake at 350* for 9 minutes Let cool completely before enjoying

When utilizing cannabis medicinally with either industrial hemp products or other cannabis-related products, it is important to understand that each delivery method provides a different bioavailability percentage within the body. The bioavailability percentage plays an important role for all cannabis patients whether they medicate leisurely, are seeking a personal wellness protocol as a new cannabis patient, or assisting the more experienced and focused patient. Before diving into the importance of bioavailability, it is vital to know the delivery methods at which cannabis may be provided. Starting with the most common method of delivery, smoking includes cannabis flowers, vape cartridges, and concentrates, followed by edibles, sublingual delivery (suckers; hard candy included), intravenous delivery, suppositories, and topical application. Each cannabis delivery method provides a cannabinoid-rich medicine yet the cannabinoid bioavailability differs between each delivery method and product. What is bioavailability and why should it matter to you? Bioavailability is the rate in which a substance (such as hemp or cannabis) is absorbed into the body and made available to the endocannabinoid system. Medicating with a cannabis product initiates homeostasis, homeostasis is the body’s process for establishing balance through endocannabinoid support while also assisting all other major regulatory systems. Each delivery method provides an individual bioavailability percentage rate at which the body will absorb cannabinoids and begin the benefits of homeostasis within the endocannabinoid and subsequent bodily regulatory systems. This may result in the patient experiencing various levels of “potency” per delivery method, however, it is the combination of bioavailability of the product paired with the total cannabinoid testing levels. Exploring bioavailability allows the patient to expand their cannabis knowledge and encourages the patient to explore new delivery methods. In my opinion cannabinoid bioavailability is one of the most important factors when seeking to medicate with cannabis. Bioavailability can be measured on a scale from lowest bioavailability with topicals measuring between 5-10%, edibles measure between 4-20%, flower approximately 30% bioavailability, sublingual measures between 4050% with cannabis vaporizors measuring up to 80% and the highest bioavailability at 100% is intravenous application. A high cannabis bioavailability usually equates to less cannabis product the patient may require to medicate with due to the bodys ability to absorb more of the total cannabinoids. It is not necessarily a higher dosage of cannabinoids or THC percentage that equates to a better medicated experience but how well they are absorbed into the body. A higher bioavailability is the sign of a higher quality product resulting in better absorption within the body. Products that deliver a high level of bioavailability often contain fewer total ingredients therefore are able to absoprb easier within the body. 2221 S. Air Depot brettmartin@herbanalternatives.com Midwest City, OK 73110 Cell: 405.566.9928 When I was young, autism was extremely rare. 15 years ago the prevalence of autism had reached around 1 in 150 children. Now it is around 1 in 50 children. So what is happening? Is this “nature” or “nurture”? Environment or genetics? Well, from my perspective, it is nutritional. In my world, what you eat provides precursors to something we all have called an endocannabinoid system. In particular the ratio and amount of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids are CRITICAL to how we function. These provide modulators which run our endocannabinoid system, which, it turns out, pretty much runs every system in our bodies. In fact, most diseases can be pinned to disregulations in this system.

So, would autism have any obvious disregulations in the endocannabinoid system? It turns out, YES! Those that suffer from autism have 2 major disregulations. When understood, it is also apparent why some pharma strategies work, and some do not. Mom’s and Dad’s of autistic kids will tell you this, that THC works for these kids. It works because it helps replace and regulate one of the deficiencies they have in the endocannabinoid system. In some cases, CBD’s will also help, but ONLY in conjunction with something that will upregulate the endocannabinoid system. While behaviorally it may LOOK like the way to treat these kids is by anti-anxiety and other down regulating pharma meds, this is exactly the wrong thing to do. In fact that will exacerbate any behavioral problems.

Autism is a very unique disease. The great news is that it appears to be treatable within the endocannabinoid system. There are many strategies that could be used, however, care must be used as to not downregulate or “slow the idle” of these children. That makes things worse. There are some great resources here in Oklahoma and certainly feel free to contact GnuPharma, myself, or the OK4UApproved trade organization for education and answers. As always, we will lead here in Oklahoma.

COVER ARTIST GENTRY LEACH

by Rayne Graham

You must see Gentry Leach’s breathtaking ethereal art. I am not telling you what to do. Her Instagram is a good place to start and will have you hooked. @gentree

The first time I was able to glimpse one of her amazing creations I knew that I wanted to know more about this multi-dimensional being.

The way she introduces lyrics of color in a seemingly spiritual stroke while capturing the energetic vibrations of what she is trying to convey left me breathless. I know I can’t be the only one, so I reached out to Gentry to get to know her more on a soul level. Let’s check out what she had to share with me!

Where does your inspiration come from?

Ever since I was a little girl, I have interpreted the world through a vivid, creative lens. There is an inherent creative spark that is embedded deep within my heart that has guided me down a path of becoming a visionary through many different mediums. Throughout my practice, I explore my emotional identity as a spiritual being having a human experience. I believe art is a crucial tool in understanding the deep inner-truths of our humanity. I create meaningful works in an effort to connect with others on the core roots of our existence.

My conceptual themes often involve self-exploration, healing social injustice, and coming back home to nature. I feel an innate pull toward the dynamic world we live in and use art as my tool to communicate a message of empathy for all living things. In my works, I explore the union of representation and abstract expression. I believe these are the two fundamental archetypes that make up the framework of the universe. It is my intention as an artist, to use my creative practice as a vehicle for inspiration, reflection, and universal empathy in hopes of creating authentic connections across the globe.

What is your favorite medium to use?

This is a challenging question because I adore all mediums for different reasons. Although, the one I’m constantly drawn to is paint. I enjoy working with mixed media on some of my smaller, more intimate pieces. I love to let the variety of mediums dance together to create one strong composition of texture, color, and depth. What is your ritual when it comes to making a new work of art?

1. Get Connected. I never rush the composition, I really meditate on my vision and allow that to come through, sometimes I feel guided if I’m working with abstract material to just surrender to the creative flow.

2. Listen to good music

3. Light an incense

4. Embrace the Flow

When did you start giving your visions life?

As long as I can remember I’ve been expressing my inner truths to the world through many modes of creativity and artistic expression. I wrote poetry and played guitar growing up, but in the last 7 years I fell in love with drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and photography. I experimented on anything and everything I could get my hands on and just let me teenage angst explode on the surface. Years later, those intuitive creative drives have led me to an abundance of skills in the creative world and allow me to connect with my community in a meaningful way. What do you do for creative blocks?

When I feel blocked, I accept it and let go of all expectations. I like to come back home to my heart and do some sort of self-grounding practice like yoga or running. I always tell myself, “This too shall pass.” It’s so important not to force it. It’s so important to give yourself space to step away and take the pressure off yourself. When I’m finally feeling ready to peruse the creative process again, I start with a meditative practice of uncontrolled sketching just to get the creative energy flowing. What advice do you have for creative minds that want to get started giving their visions life?

DO IT! Let go of comparison, expectations, and ideas around what you think you are capable of. It’s an ever-evolving practice. The beautiful thing about art is that is a separate energetic force from the pressures of day to day to reality, it’s therapeutic, and it’s completely subjective to each individual viewer. You never know... something you effortlessly create may touch someone in a powerful way and provide a bridge of connection from human to human. That is the beauty of art. It is an ever-giving force.
