Mid-Season Lawn Rescue Tips It’s not too late to save your lawn and get a head start on a great lawn next year Think there’s nothing you can do to save your lawn this late in the season? Think again! There’s still plenty you can do to help your lawn, plus, give it a head start for next season. Here are a few tips to save your lawn from het, weeds, disease and insects: Spot Weed Control - get rid of those pesky weeds now so they don’t come back in the spring. Spot treat for dandelions, clover, nutsedge and more. Fall Lawn Treatment - fall fertilizer will feed your lawn and give it the boost it needs to grow thicker. A thick lawn is the best defense against weeds. Winter Lawn Treatment - one last fertilizer treatment that is high in nitrogen prepares your grass for the long winter ahead. Aerating or Verticutting - aerating is a great way to keep your lawn healthy. Aeration creates better absorption of water and nutrients, breaks up the thatch layer, and give grass roots room to grow. This creates a healthier turf come spring. If your lawn is in really bad shape, it may need verticutting which will allow the seed to better germinate, but is more invasive to your lawn. Seeding - if your lawn is sparse or there are dead spots, you may want to seed it to thicken it up. Seeding after aerating is ideal as it gives the new seed great places to start germinating. Make sure you use grass seed that contains no weed seeds. Check the label because most grass seed contains weed seeds too. You want one that says 0% weed seed and 0% other seed. Sprinkler Maintenance - sometimes, sprinkler systems can cause damage to your lawn. Either broken heads are creating areas where the grass is not getting enough water, or leaking below ground is creating areas here there is too much water. Make sure your sprinkler system is in good working order and don’t forget to blow it out before the first freeze to prevent damage over the winter.

Don’t give up on your lawn. You can save it and make it better for next year.
