Seaside Medicine: Healthcare on the First Coast

While the First Coast is well known for its beautiful weather and sandy beaches, it is also home to world-class healthcare. Our hospitals and healthcare facilities have some of the best medical providers in the country who use the most cutting-edge technologies to provide the best possible care for their patients.

UF Health

UF Health, affiliated with the University of Florida Health Science Center Jacksonville, is proud to serve Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia residents as the region’s premier academic health center. The four medical campuses are UF Health Jacksonville in downtown Jacksonville, UF Health North near Jacksonville International Airport, UF Health Emerson Medical Plaza on the southside of Jacksonville and UF Health Wildlight in Yulee. These encompass more than 60 practices throughout the area offering primary and specialty care services.

UF Health Jacksonville is a full-service hospital and home to the only Level I trauma program in the area, 24/7 emergency room and Level III neonatal intensive care unit. Some specialty care services on-site are cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, rehabilitation services and many more. The University of Florida Colleges of Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy are also located on the UF Health Jacksonville campus.

UF Health North is home to the only full-service hospital in North Florida, a 24/7 emergency room, and 12 state-of-the-art labor and delivery suites. Also on this campus is the Medical Office Building, offering more than 30 specialty services including outpatient surgery, laboratory and diagnostic services.

UF Health Emerson Medical Plaza is home to a multiservice outpatient care center. Rehabilitation services include physical, speech, occupational and neurological therapies. A variety of additional specialties are available, from cardiology and neurosciences to endocrinology and imaging services. Patients also have access to primary care and health screening services. Opened in December 2019, UF Health Wildlight is the newest outpatient medical facility and is the official medical provider for the Wildlight Community. This campus offers urgent care, dentistry, family medicine, pediatrics, mental health services, obstetrics and gynecology, imaging, and a laboratory. A new rehabilitation facility opened in the fall of 2020 and offers occupational, physical and speech therapies for adults and children. The facility is also home to a healthy living center and a YMCA.

Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital

Serving the residents of Baker County, Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital in Macclenny has a dynamic staff of physicians and nurses who provide care using state-of-the-art technology. For routine checkups, sick visits, and family-based care, patients can also visit the Dopson Family Medical Center and Baker Rural Health Clinic located on the hospital campus.

CLAY COUNTY

Kindred Hospital North Florida

Located in Green Cove Springs, this 80-bed acute long-term care hospital offers specialized care to patients who need extended hospital stays. The hospital also has a 14-bed acute rehabilitation unit designed for people who have experienced the debilitating effects of an acute injury, impairment, or illness.

Orange Park Medical Center

One of Northeast Florida’s top healthcare providers, Orange Park Medical Center provides quality care and extraordinary service to the Clay County community. It has been given America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award™, America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Critical Care Award™, and more. The hospital has nine labor, delivery and recovery room suites for new moms and a seven-bed, Level II neonatal intensive care unit for premature babies and those born with special needs.
