Life Reflections
On June 30, 1948, Brewster Leon Tucker, Sr. (Bruce) was welcomed into this world by parents, Helen Maria Tucker Webb and Virgil Spencer, in Rossville, TN. As an infant, they moved to Memphis, TN for a new beginning. His mother raised him in North Memphis where he would graduate from Manassas High School in 1966. Bruce’s strong faith would lead him to accept Christ at an early age where he became a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. As a young adult, Bruce was called to serve in the United States Army. As the war was a time of uncertainty for many of the soldiers, Bruce was blessed to return home. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his service during the Vietnam War. He later was decorated with many other medals for his time served and was honorably discharged. Thereafter, Bruce would embark on the journey of fatherhood welcoming his first son, Leon, and daughter, Melinda. Bruce would later meet the love of his life, Eleanor (El to all of us) and her daughter Rosalyn. Thereafter, they joined in marriage and blended their families with unconditional love and devotion and welcomed their son, Shaun. Their loving union would last for 44 years. Bruce believed in providing for his family and loved all his children dearly. Bruce worked for United States Postal Service and retired after 46 years as a Mail Handler. During his time there, he received numerous awards and accolades for his determination, hard work and diligence. Aside from work, if you are a Pittsburgh Steelers fan you were alright with him and he was an avid fan of LeBron James. He was a member of The New Sportsman’s Club enjoyed traveling and gathering with fellow members. His other hobbies were playing cards, crossword puzzles and dominos which he played all hours of the night. Those were the times he would offer his words wisdom whether it was warranted or not. Also, he loved listening to different styles music on his record player, especially James Brown with his live band. Bruce is survived by his devoted wife, Eleanor Tucker; two sons: Brewster Leon Tucker, Jr. and Shaun Corey Tucker (Sereena); two daughters: Melinda Myra Tucker and Rosalyn A. Mason (Kenneth); three sisters-in-law: Juliana Johnson (Augusta, GA), Mildred Potter (Memphis, TN), and Doris Potter (Memphis, TN); one brother-in-law, Joseph H. Potter, Jr. (Memphis, TN); ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who will cherish his legacy forever.
Family Tributes Sweet Rest
God saw you were getting weary, So He did what He thought was best; He came and stood beside you, And whispered, “Come and Rest”. God saw the road was getting rough, The hills were hard to climb; He gently closed those loving eyes, And whispered, “Peace Be Thine”. The weary hours, the days of pain, The sleepless nights are passed; The ever present worn out frame, Has found “Sweet Rest at Last”. In God’s eternal home, Where there is no pain or sorrow; We hope to see your loving face, In that peaceful never-ending tomorrow. Love,
To Our Dad with Love
We’ll always remember you, Dad Because there’ll never be another one to replace you in our hearts and the love we will always have for you.
From Your Children
Your Family
To Our Dear Uncle Of all the many blessings However great or small; To have had you for an uncle Was the greatest one of all.
The family chain is broken now, And nothing seems the same. But as God takes us one by one, The chain will link again.
