Welcome! “The artist has a special task and duty: the task of reminding men of their humanity and the promise of their creativity.” –Lewis Mumford Welcome, This quote from Lewis Mumford speaks volumes to the seriousness and dedication that artists feel in their work. This year, Pentangle brings you a season filled with theater, music, visual arts, movies, literature, and dance which we hope will help us touch base with our humanity and creativity. Our hope is that these performances and presentations inspire and enrich your life. When we gather together in community to share the joy of an artist at work, we are reminded that art is alive. Audiences feed artists – they are inspired and energized as much by an audience as they are by their own passion. Experiencing “live art” is a reminder of our humanity and our creativity. Thank you for joining us and supporting the arts by attending this performance. Enjoy! Sunni Fass, Executive Director Sabrina Brown & Patsy Mathews Co-Interim Executive Directors “Art is much less important than life, but what a poor life without it.” – Robert Motherwell This playbill is dedicated to three individuals who appreciated art and the way art enriches our community. They each worked for and supported Pentangle in ways that were farreaching. Their energy, dedication, and bright spirits will be always fondly remembered and honored by the work Pentangle will continue to do in their memory.

TOM RUSH Benefit for the Upper Valley Haven Saturday, October 22 7:30pm Pentangle was privileged to have Tom Rush perform for the Goodbye Irene flood victim benefit concert in September. That “preview” performance highlighted why we are so excited to have a full “Evening with Tom Rush” in October. His distinctive guitar style, wry humor, and warm, expressive voice have made him both a legend and a lure to audiences around the world. His performance resonates with the sweet melancholy of ballads, the passion of gritty blues, and the humor of great storytelling. Rush’s impact on the American music scene has been profound. He helped shape the folk revival in the ‘60s and the renaissance of the ‘80s and ‘90s, his music having left its stamp on generations of artists.
