From the Chairman Since becoming the Chairman of the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce in 2019, I have been keen to create a comprehensive support mechanism for local entrepreneurs. I am therefore absolutely delighted to introduce the Entrepreneur Foundation to you. My personal background is as an entrepreneur. I have run my own businesses for most of my working life and my experience spans a range of industry sectors in both B2B and B2C markets.
This initiative is designed to support and encourage many of the fantastic businesses in Hertfordshire. We want to help them to grow their enterprise, to take their start-up company to the next level and to help and advise them on all aspects along the way. These people will be the job and wealth creators of tomorrow. They can give our local business community a uniqueness and at a national and international level these entrepreneurs can change the way we live and the way we look at life.
I hope you will seriously consider getting involved in the Foundation, whether as a Founder member, a Supporter or an Entrepreneur; all of whom will draw mutual benefits from their involvement in this exciting new initiative.
Jeremy Bishop, Chairman, Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce
From the Lord-Lieutenant It gives me great pleasure to give my wholehearted support to the Entrepreneur Foundation. The definition of an entrepreneur is “a person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit.”
I have always believed in the importance of encouraging entrepreneurs from a very early stage of the development of their business - and what better way to minimise the risks that they take than to be supported by experienced entrepreneurs who have themselves experienced the highs and lows of starting and running their own business. Having set up and run several businesses myself I know it is not always a smooth path to success but being able to engage with others who are going through, or have gone through the same process is a great opportunity not to be missed .
The Lord-Lieutenant’s Entrepreneurs Challenge which takes place annually with the final at The County Show in May, evidences the high calibre of entrepreneurs in Hertfordshire - The County of Opportunity - and I am sure that the Entrepreneur Foundation will help develop yet more fine Hertfordshire Businesses.
Robert Voss CBE CStJ HM Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire

The Chamber Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce has been representing businesses in the County since 1924. We sit at the heart of the community, working with businesses of all sizes and representing all sectors.
We are the largest independent business support organisation within Hertfordshire and we are an accredited member of the national British Chambers of Commerce network.
Our expertise in organisational development, training, marketing and sales combined with our business experience and established events programme will enable you to foster strategic partnerships, connect with other members and provide you and your staff with the knowledge and confidence to grow and sustain your business.
Vision The Chambers of Commerce network provides support to local businesses through a range of membership benefits, such as: information, events and training and via extensive networking opportunities. Entrepreneurs are vital to business; individuals who have a vision, can inspire others to join them on their journey and drive the success of our local and national economy.
Hertfordshire Chamber recognises this need and is seeking to identify entrepreneurs who are passionate about their ideas; about turning their concepts into reality; and who have the energy to create new successful businesses. The Entrepreneur Foundation has been designed to nurture and grow a new network of enterprising individuals who meet these criteria; offering a two-year initiative of guidance, training and support, supplied by Founder members, by Supporters and, of course, by the Chamber itself.

Previous Entrepreneur of the Year Winners
The Awards were launched in 2012 to focus on and celebrate the expertise, achievements and outstanding contribution that businesses and individuals continually make to the growth of our County. These Awards enable Hertfordshire businesses to showcase their performance and achievements to clients, customers, suppliers, stakeholders and to all of the Hertfordshire business community. Participation in the Entrepreneur Foundation programme provides access to the annual Herts Chamber Inspiring Herts Awards, which include two very relevant categories:
Most Promising New Business Entrepreneur of the Year
The Icing on the Cake
Winners of both the above categories then go forward for the chance to become
Inspiring Business
of the Year. For all those who successfully complete the two-year Entrepreneur Foundation initiative, there is the opportunity to then become an Entrepreneur Champion. This provides a fantastic chance to assist in the mentoring of new business people that have subsequently joined the Foundation and, in so-doing, giving back to the initiative that has supported you and to the business community in which you operate. In addition, all those who complete the foundation will be featured in the bi-monthly Chamber magazine, Inspire.
The Inspiring Hertfordshire awards ceremony gave a fantastic opportunity to shine a well-deserved spotlight on some of the best achievements from around the county. The event was amazing and highlighted just how many incredible businesses and people there are in the Hertfordshire business community.” Neil Cundale, Principal, Hillier Hopkins
