Oncethevotingperiodhasconcluded,we’llcounttheelectionand returntheresults.TheresultswillbeannouncedatResultsNight onFriday8thMarch.
PleasenotethatHICstudentsarenotabletovoteintheelections.

To make sure our elections are fair, we have a number of rules that candidates must follow. As a candidate, you must ensure you’re familiar with the full Rules and Regulations - and abide by them-throughouttheelectionsprocess.
OfficersatHertsSUarestudent leadersandanystudents campaigningforanyofthe leadershippositionsare expectedtobehave accordingly.Thismeans treatingstudentvoters,fellow candidates,UniversityandHerts SUstaffwithrespect.
Theremustbeno‘negative campaigning’.Thisincludes,but isnotlimitedto,makingattacks ofapersonalorcampaign natureagainstother candidates.
Candidatesmustnot discriminateagainstany religious,politicaland/orethnic groupsorgendersduringtheir campaign.Thistypeof behaviourwillnotbetolerated andwillbedealtwithvery seriouslyinaccordancewith theUniversity’sdisciplinary procedures.
Candidatesmustnot incorporateHertsSUlogoor brandinginanyoftheir campaignmaterials. Campaignmaterialsmustbe approvedbyHertsSUpriorto thecommencementofthe votingperiodandcannotbe useduntilapprovedinwriting, byemailfrom elections@hertssu.com.
Everymobiledeviceisconsidered apollingstationandwillbe treatedassuch.
Candidatesarenotallowed touseanyoftheirpersonal electronicdevicessuchasa mobilephone,iPadorlaptopfor thepurposeofallowingother studentstovote.
Candidatesarenotallowed tohandleastudents’mobile device(thisincludesscrollingor directingthemtocastavote).

ImproperuseofWhatsApp Groups,includingmessaging individualmembersofgroups andaskingthemtovote,isin breachofGDPRregulations andcouldresultinelections sanctions(uptoandincluding removalfromtheelections)could resultinpotentialfinesand penaltiesfromtheInformation Commissioner’sOffice(ico.org. uk).

Nocurrentorformerstudent leaderorstudentgroup affiliatedwithHertsSUor HertSquadmayendorseany candidate.
Nocandidatemayuseany resourcesmadeavailableto themthroughpositionsof responsibilitywithinHertsSUor University(e.g.society positions)toactivelyadvertise theircampaignbutmay continuetoserveintheirrole duringtheelections.
Candidatesmustnot campaigninHertsSUofficesor meetings.

Talktostudentsaboutwhyyou’re runningandwhytheyshould voteforyou.Voterswanttoknow whoyouareandwhatyoustand for.Makesureyou’retalking passionatelyandtruthfullywhen campaigning. Planyourtimewellinadvance. Campaigningshouldn’ttakeover yourlifeanddefinitelyshouldn’t stopyoufromattendingyour lectures.
