As surprising as it may be, 4 billion people on earth have never heard the Gospel of Jesus and 2 billion have zero access to Bibles, Christian churches, and literature. Most of this group lives in predominantly Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist areas.

For a quarter of a century, Global Ventures' primary mission field has been the 10/40 window, an area with the highest concentration of unreached people and poverty and the lowest percentage of Christian missionary activity.

All are accomplished by the Holy Spirit through short-term missions’ teams, citywide festivals, service projects, church planting, missions training programs, and their media ministry.

A few years ago, I went through the pain and sorrow of losing a son who was addicted to prescription painkillers. They cost him his landscaping business, his home, and finally his life.

He moved back in with us after the loss of his home.

Several times he had seizures resulting in trips to the ER, where we nearly lost him.

We were finally able to scrape enough money together to get him into a thirty-day Drug Rehab program, and it was there that he had a renewed encounter with God. Upon completion of the program, he came home with a pad of paper. On it he had written an eightpage list of his sins, and letters to his mother and me, asking us to forgive him. He also contacted others to apologize for his actions in the past.

One day he told me “Dad, I’ve planted hundreds of trees; but this is the first time in my life that I’ve ever seen the beauty of a tree.” I knew that Jesus was making him into a new creation.

While he was in the program, he had been sick with pneumonia. With all the stress of coming back home, he took some painkillers. Due to his weakened condition, he fell into a coma. I found him the next morning and called 911.

While they were working on him in the ER, I was in the parking lot awaiting the outcome and crying out to God as I had done many times on his behalf. That’s when I heard in an audible voice: “Stand still and KNOW I AM GOD!” A short time later the doctor came out and said “Brian is gone. We could not save him.”

Questions and guilt flood ed my mind: “Why did God let my son die?” “I could have done more to save him!”
