WHEN WAS MARY SAVED? By A.Z.

My answer:

The answer is twofold since she lived under both the old covenant and the new covenant. She lived before, during and after the resurrection of her son Jesus. Thus, she lived during a period of time that offered two valid but different covenants. Old and New.

Times may change and circumstances may change, but God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. People then are saved the same way in both the Old and New Testaments.

By grace through faith. Everyone comes the same way, Old or New Testament, it is salvation by the Grace of God received through our faith. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8

First let’s look at the old covenant. How were the people saved in the Old Testament? Was it by the law? NO! The law never saved anyone nor was it even able to. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, the just shall live by faith. Galatians 3:11

Through the law was given the knowledge of sin. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20

way to the Father, and that is through Jesus. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

Some examples referencing the Old Testament and salvation for you to consider. (45) Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. (46) For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. John 5:45-46

Again, with Abraham the father of faith. (1) What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? (2) For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. (3) For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. (4) Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. Romans 4:1-4

Salvation for Old Testament saints was not through the law, it was through faith in God’s grace. (13) For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. (14) For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: (15) Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. (16) Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, Romans 4:13-16

Now Mary was the epitome of faith in both testaments. She exemplified faith in God before Jesus, during Jesus and after He ascended back to heaven.

When she was told by the angel she would get pregnant and still be a virgin. She took Him at His Word and believed. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38

The results changed the world for all of us. (45) And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. Luke 1:45

Then we come to the New Testament

Mary was both born again and filled with the Holy Spirit under the New Covenant. (13) And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. (14) These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. Acts 1:13-14

one accord in one place. (2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. (3) And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. (4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4

Mary was saved by grace through faith under the Old Covenant as well as the full manifestation of having been saved through the new, better Covenant with better promises too. Mary trusted Jesus, do you?

Thank you A.Z. for a great thought-provoking question.
