PROJECT DURATION
PROJECT BENEFITS AND RESULTS

TERRY MOORE
Terry is an Auto-Mechanic by profession, but he wanted to do
something different, something that he would enjoy. In 2005, he started handcrafting and creating products from natural materials such as bamboo, coconut, straw and wood. His love for the industry drove him to start his own business in 2009. He has a passion for what he does and puts a lot of time and energy into his products, ensuring that they are of an international standard and most importantly appeal to and satisfy customers. Terry and his craft are ‘simply connected’.

YVONNE TILLOCK
The designs and creativity of the ‘Reflections’ product line by Pegasus Prints is the dream and work of Yvonne M. Tillock. The idea started as a hobby in 1997, while working in the corporate world and evolved into a business with a local and international following. As a designer living in Grenada, Yvonne believes art and design should be shared and appreciated, which is why she continues to make beautiful things. All of the products are functional, unique, original and handmade, not mass produced. Each quality product is designed to depict the vibrant, unique colours, of the local and indigenous flora, fauna and scenes of the Caribbean. The products are classified into categories such as home décor, bags and wearable items. Yvonne is very passionate about what she produces and looks forward to taking her work to the next level.

TAMARA PROSPER
Tamara creates luxury eco-jewelry and accessories utilizing natural, indigenous materials and commercial waste materials under her business name Tambran by Tamara. Her eco-jewelry and accessories are inspired by the colours and designs of nature and she is expanding her product line to include accent pieces for the home, such as mirrors, lamps and much more. Tamara loved art and design from an early age and pursued this field both academically and professionally. Her love and passion evolved into establishing and registering her business in October 2012 where innovation, creativity and experimentation is at the heart of what she does. She expresses her vibrant and carefree nature through her unique designs and also through the colour palettes she uses. Tamara has received many awards and accolades for encouraging environmental preservation and recycling through her products. She merges this component with passion and art and creates aesthetically pleasing, and unique products.

ROSLYN DEWSBURY
From a young age Roslyn has enjoyed making craft, a skill she learned from her mother. She harnessed her skills working in the hotel industry and also became inspired to create while living in Venezuela. She specializes in leather jewelry, fabric painting and sewing which she sells at the Esplanade Mall Courtyard, Booth #8. Her unique collection includes t-shirts, bags, jewelry, paintings, dolls, flower arrangements and much more. She has completed many training courses in painting and craft to work on expanding her product line to include bracelets, earring sets and leather necklaces.

MAUREEN GLUDD DUMONT
Maureen specializes in basket weaving to create a variety of products like animal characters and
small boxes for jewelry or spices. Upon leaving school her passion was to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a tourist vendor creating handicraft. She enlisted in a training program in handicraft, which included macrame, straw weaving, jewelry making and much more. Maureen is developing a special souvenir product called ‘Surprise Small Box’, where she can place her small straw broaches. Her products are neat with a high quality finish. She is looking forward to establishing her own business and passing on her skills through craft classes.

LEISHA WILLIAMSON
Leisha specializes in fabric painting, jewelry, fashion and graphics. Her label evolved from her graphic work and represents her style and experimentation with colours. Leisha’s blouses, dresses and tunics are made from her painted collections complete with matching jewelry. Leisha is developing a complete collection of jewelry, which she will sell to the local and international markets; she also hosts showrooms at her home.

DON WALKER
Don specializes in bamboo work. He maintains a natural and rustic finish with his products thus enhancing the natural beauty of the bamboo and elevating its perceived value. His product line includes ornamental cars, planes, boats, desk items and jewelry boxes. Mr. Walker has the potential to expand his business outside of Grenada. He was enthused with the idea of mixing materials to achieve a more sophisticated look to his products. He explored different materials which can be combined with bamboo to create a new line of products such as napkin holders, bamboo chops and candle-holders.

MARY MAGDALENE FARRAY
Ms. Maggie as she is affectionately called specializes in crochet products and utilizes different threads to achieve a variety of combinations. Her products include crochet shorts, tops, swim-wear and hats. She has developed a line of crochet jewelry incorporating materials such as satin, cotton, beads and seeds.

IVY HINDS
Ivy specializes in turtle and coconut shell products as well as beaded jewelry. She loves making craft, particularly animal characters made from materials such as wood, bamboo, coconut and leather. She enjoys passing on her skills to the younger generation by facilitating a number of arts & craft classes within her community in Concord, St. John. Handcraft is how Ivy makes her living, a skill that afforded her many opportunities for educational advancement.

Reece specializes in sewing, fabric painting, jewelry and experimental techniques using natural materials. She created a successful line called ‘African Heritage’, where she merged solid colours with prints. Reece’s products were well received within the first year of launching her business. Her range ‘Afro-Grenadian’ incorporated her culture and lifestyle in the fishing capital of Gouyave. She is currently developing her own ethnic fashion concept to expand her line and diversify her product offering.

Trevlyn hails from Carriacou and specializes in seed and beaded jewelry. She develops intricate combinations and structures, as well as complete jewelry sets to stay abreast of current fashion trends. She loves creating statement pieces.

ANGELLA COX
Wild pine has always been a tradition in Angela’s family. Angela’s parents used wild pine to make school bags, shopping bags and even church bags for her and her siblings. As time went on, they created children’s toys, jewelry and Christmas ornaments. She is honored to continue her unique family tradition and specializes in doll making, shell work and basketry weaving. Her ‘Big Doll’ line made of fabric and straw make for lovely Christmas ornaments. Angela created women’s clutches, necklaces and bracelets decorated with ‘donkey eye’ seeds to appeal to a fashionable audience.

Philda comes from a family of craft makers and honed her skills after attending a skills training program in the craft sector, which left her determined and encouraged to start her own business. Philda specializes in beads and seeds jewelry and creates products made from plastic beads, seeds and shells. She is currently developing a new line using new combinations and sizes to make her products more fashionable and appealing. She enjoys unveiling the work of her gifted hands.

Theresa specializes in basketry, sewing, doll making, painting and other exper-

Theresa is a prolific artisan who has developed a number of techniques and a wide variety of products that she sells to a wide range of customers.

CHERYL ANTOINE
Cheryl is the owner of C&C Craft Shop in St. David’s, where she creates Larouma Fiber Basketry. Her passion for straw weaving led her to produce a number of products including clothes baskets, fruit baskets, floor mats, table mats and lamp shades. She is developing a line of boxes and jewelry, which incorporate satin ribbons and different colours of fibre to achieve a unique finish.

DEVON PIERRE
Devon started producing craft in school after he participated in a competition which he went on to win. He quickly realized how skilled and gifted he truly was and began creating products from bamboo and coconut shells, which resulted in lots of positive feedback from customers and peers. He started his own business ‘Sweetest Arts & Craft’, which is located in Sunset City, Victoria, St. Mark. Devon’s line is unique with improved quality and finish and he is currently working on developing jewelry boxes and candle holders. Devon has started to create bamboo holders for wine bottles using a variety of angles to create different effects.
