elcome back R/C maniacs. This is another edition of Wide Open Throttle and things just keep changing for the better. This week we continue to expand the magazine a bit. We are trying to combine some of the best things in R/C and adding some additional items that may peek your interest. This week we are adding some blurbs and information about the Dark Knight Rising, which is the next installment of the Batman Dark Knight Franchise. Also we are expanding you pallet with some racing and video game new. As always our goal is to keep you interested and so far it has been working. Each week we see the number of views and subscribers growing. One thing I have noticed is that we don’t really get that much feedback from people which isn’t really a big deal, and probably caused by the fact that we are still a very small magazine, but we do like hearing from people. Traxxas Robby Gordon Speed Energy/Toyo Tires Edition Slash Not much is know at this time but according to RC Car Action, Traxxas has teamed up with the guys over at Speed Energy and with Robby Gordon to put out a licensed Speed Energy truck. The truck is going to be based on the slash platform so nothing special to see on the technology front. No information as to what versions the truck will come in. Also no information on the engine type. But what we are lacking in information we are making up for in style. I am always going to be swayed when I see anything that is Black and Orange, and this Short Course is no exception.
The truck will be using the Traxxas TQ 2.4 Ghz computerized High Output radio systems which uses the Direct Sequence Spread-Spectrum (DSSS) technology system, and includes fully programmable features, like the Traxxas Link™ automatic model recognition system, for easy binding to your model. The Truck will have a 13in wheelbase with 3.5in of ground clearance the same as all Slash models. Traxxas Robby Gordon Speed Energy/Toyo Tires Edition Slash is equipped with watertight, sealed electronics. Which will let you tear it up wherever you want whether through water, mud and snow.
Robby Gordon races in the Traxxas TORC Series of events. Robby Gordon raced in the 2010 AMSOIL Cup World Championship race at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. But lost the race because of mechanical difficulties. Robby Gordon finished 3rd in the 2009 Dakar Rally in South America (where the event was moved after terrorist threats led the cancellation of the 2008 event). New Stuff Killer RC Bumble Bee Nitro Kill Switch R/C car runaways are the worst thing that can happen to any R/C racer or basher. Nothing is worse then watching your significant investment race away at full throttle to just explode in a terrific blast of parts. How can you mount the Dominator pipe in the HPI Baja 5SC? Unfortunately because of the stock rear bumper mount configuration on the HPI Baja 5SC it does not allow allow you to use rear-mounted exhaust pipe, like the Dominator Pipe. Fortunately RPM has developed the HPI Baja 5SC Rear Bumper Mount RPM82312 making mounting no longer an issue. The HPI Baja 5SC Rear Bumper mount uses the RPM 5B / 5T rear skid plate to attach the RPM HPI Baja 5SC Rear Bumper Mount system that then allows the stock bumper to attach keeping the rear bumper in the stock location. With the RPM Rear bumper mount added you still keep the scale bumper look and location the same but now you have a large enough gap behind the rear bulkhead to run the Dominator pipe or another rear mount pipe.

As expected the Bullet ST is a RTR HPI Kit that was designed for off-road bashers and weekend warriors. Stepping it Up If you are used to water proofing your own servos, or you havent been and in that case you have a small pile of ruined one, well you no longer have to. The Bullet ST 3.0 now features a waterproof battery compartment, waterproof servos and rain cover for the air filter. That will keep your precious Bullet ST 3.0 electronics from getting ruined when you go crashing through the creek or some nice puddles. Just incase you forgot this thing is a Nitro vehicle you need to remember that it can not be dropped in your pool and you want to keep water levels way below your exhaust port of the it’s easier than ever to control the speed and especially the intake. If you toss this guy into the pool dont expect HPI to replace it for you no matter how hard you cry.

The Bullet ST 3.0 comes in at 1/10th scale and is classified as a stadium racing truck running a 4WD drivetrain. To power up this package HPI has put the HPI Nitro Star G3.0 engine with 2.2 horsepower into the Bullet ST 3.0, So the truck has the power to answer some of your crazy bashing requests. Radio System The Bullet ST 3.0 comes with the standard HPI 2.4GHz radio system, which is now quickly becoming expected for any RTR kit these days. Any kit that you see still coming with a non 2.4ghz radio is either playing the upgrade game like Apple or they are a low end cheap model. HPI also included the factory kill switch feature on the radio equipment so if the Bullet ST 3.0 ever loses radio signal or battery power, an electronic failsafe will bring it to a safe and controlled stop. I have not seen the HPI fail safe in action so I can’t comment on it. If I wanted to really be safe I would probably stick with the Killer RC Bumble Bee Nitro Switch

Radio Control Video Game Racing Simulator - VRC-Pro VRC-Pro is the latest installment on road R/C racing simulator. This R/C simulator is attempting to do for surface racing what R/C Flight did for the R/C Air guys. Long waited by alot of fans across the Internet VRC-Pro has so far come through on what it promised. The company took its time with the development of VRC-Pro, and that really isn’t a bad thing. After an extensive beta test which proved the technology and physics behind VRC Pro had been implemented successfully, VRC-Pro was released September 1st. VRC-Pro has promised to provide off road racing at a later date, but out of the box there will be intense on road electric and Nitro racing. The reason they can offer these developments at a later date is VRC-Pro is taking a subscription model to its pricing. Following the MMORPG model and bringing it to the R/C simulator market. Its going to be an experiment in a pricing model that may see some initial resistance. But if VRC-Pro is able to

add enough content on an ongoing basis it will provide a value worth the expense to the racers. One of the most exciting aspects of VRC-Pro is the multiplayer portion of the game. Now you can practice racing your radio control cars and trucks against other players from around the world. Test out your cat like reflexes on more than the 10 year olds you race at your club track. When you practice against the best you will notice some real improvement in your game. Maybe now you can finally start embarrassing people on the track. At least on VRC-Pro you can get your practice in and save yourself the embarrassment of losing in front of your friends. If you want to have a more intimate gaming session you can load up VRCPro on your local LAN and get some races going with the guys in the office or have a LAN party at your track. If you think at VRC-Pro is just a game, you should take a long hard look at the VRC-Pro Physics engine. The physics engine gives VRC-Pro Accurate, ultra realistic physics that are tuned directly to the different manufacturers and makes that are loaded into VRC-Pro
represents that.
What really separated VRCPro from othe R/C games that may be on the market or on the IPAd is the manufacturer support. Inside of VRC-Pro they have real high performance cars, from REAL BRANDS (kyosho, tamiya, lrp, xray, and many more). As we know the physics effect while driving an R/C car is different than driving a real car. The physics engine of VRC-Pro acuratly
If you are going to have a great racing simulator you can’t just have great radio control cars you need have amazing tracks as well. VRC-Pro comes preloaded with world renowned REAL TRACKS (world championship tracks) that you can race on. Additionally with the subscription based model now used for pricing in the game, the developers will be able to add additional tracks as time goes on.
If you can’t always get to the track but you still want to race, perhaps you should try VRC-Pro out.

Fun Stuff
The Dark Knight Rises is one of the most highly anticipated movie releases of recent memory. The portrayal of the Joker and the untimely death of Heath Ledger solidified this movie into the stratosphere. Christian Bale who of course has returned to don the cowl of the dark caped hero will attempt to bring the same flare and anticipation as the previous movie. Unfortunately this may be more difficult than the last film. This time around Bale will not have the benefit of a popular villain like the Joker or the dynamic acting abilities of Ledger. But, bale has done it once already so no one should count him out. In this film we get to see the character Bane brought to life. Just in case you are not into the comic scene, you should know that the character bane was the character that beat and broke the back of Batman. Paralyzing Bruce

Whew, I have to take breath after that that long nerd moment. Tom Hardy has been charged with bringing this very deep character to life. Unfortunately in the past animated versions of this
character have overly simplified a very complex emotional and cerebral man. Bane seemingly a muscle bound monster is actually a cold and calculated criminal genius. Hopefully Tom Hardy is able to present this facet of the character. Lastly Anne Hathaway will be playing Cat Woman. From a looks stand point she fits the bill, as a very gorgeous woman who will look good in a skin tight leather suit. But to me Anne has always exuded more of a girl next door attitude rather than the sex kitten cat woman is known for. Cat woman’s greatest power beside her agility was her ability to transfix men with her looks and attitude. A power even Bruce Wayne had trouble defeating. In the end I can’t wait to see this movie. It’s going to be amazing fun.
