Kingston Sharks - Learn to Play Ice Hockey - HEY Magazine

The Hull Ice Arena are working in conjunction with the Kingston Junior Ice Hockey Club (Also known as the Kingston Sharks and Jets) to offer the chance to become an Ice Hockey player of the future.

The session is run by the Hull City Council, and the Kingston Sharks provide professional and fully certified coaches and managers to demonstrate and plan the training sessions to instruct the very highest standard of coaching for every child who would like to become an ice hockey player. The Kingston Sharks provide all protective equipment needed for the training session for no extra cost. If possible, if your child could have basic skating ability, this would be helpful as we’d recommend a few skating sessions so the player would be steady on their feet before trying Ice Hockey.

The Coaches and managers try and make this session fun but also challenging, this provides the player an opportunity to advance into different areas of Ice hockey. Once the player has reached a relatively good standard, the Head coach off the Kingston Sharks and Jets, Andy Daintith, will invite the chosen players to trial for the Kingston Sharks to be offered a place into the main team training. Sessions run on a Monday and Wednesday evening, but this would only be offered when the coaches feel the player is ready.

Over the years, the Sharks have had lots of success with Ice hockey in the city with players now playing for Great Britain, England, Conference, and our very own club, with some making a career out of the sport and most of these players started on the Sunday learn to play session.

All Kington Sharks’ Junior games are free of charge for spectators to come and watch, support these young players and for everyone to enjoy. Upcoming games can be found on the Shark’s website.

The session is offered on a Sunday morning between the hours of 9-10am, prices can be found on the Hull City Council website, and for the same price, you also get the skating session 10-12 for free of charge to work on your skating abilities. This isn’t covered by the Kingston Sharks Coach or Manager.
