Mission Statement of the Half Hollow Hills School District Athletic Program The mission of the HHH district athletic program is to foster the quest for excellence by creating an educational and competitive experience with an atmosphere of sportsmanship. We strive to develop responsibility, fair play, cooperation, concern for others, leadership, respect, good sportsmanship, confronting fear, succeeding and failing.


HILLS ATHLETICS 2010-Named the Top Athletic Program Suffolk County by Ultimate Magazine 2010- HSE & HSW Named Schools of Distinction by NYSPHSAA Scholar/Athlete Program 2010- New York State Football Player the Year-JeVahn Cruz


Accomplishments 2010-New York State Basketball Player of the Year –Tobias Harris 2010-HSW Basketball Ranked #18 in the Nation- USA Today 2009-HSE Baseball –John Mincone Drafted Major League Baseball 2010–Steven Bowen completed his 5th year with the Dallas Cowboys

Middle School Athletics Competitive in nature Safely keep as many athletes as possible Designed to maximize exposure Not always comparable with youth leagues i.e. rules Rules & guidelines by Section XI Developmental Selection Classification

High School Level JV Level- balance between team and player development and the quest for victory. The outcome of the contest does become a consideration Meaningful contest participation will exist over the course of the season, providing the athlete meets program expectations. A specified amount of playing time is never guaranteed.

Reality of Athletics Less than 2% of graduating seniors nationwide receive athletic scholarships (approx. 24000) 1% of that 2% become athletic professionals (approx. 240) Athletics can help entrance into institutions that they may not ordinarily qualify for.
