SEPTEMBER OCTOBER Wells Scholar Program: Indiana University Bloomington The Wells Scholarship pays the full cost of attendance for four years of any undergraduate program offered at Indiana University Bloomington campus. Past candidates have been in the top 5% of their class, complied a GPA of 3.9 or higher, scored a 1400 or higher on SAT and a 32 or higher on ACT. IU Bloomington chooses recipients based solely on merit. Students with Exceptional academic accomplishment and promise, fine character and leadership, and involvement in extracurricular activities are looked at closely. AES Engineers Scholarship The AES Engineers Scholarship is awarded on the basis of character. Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors. Students must submit an essay of between 500 and 1,000 words, in answer to the following question: When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful? What relationships or accomplishments will be important on this journey? The Levine Scholars program: UNC Charlotte Levine Scholarships are awarded to extraordinary high school seniors based on scholarship, ethical leadership, and civic engagement. The Levine Scholarships carry a high honor, one that bestows tremendous opportunities and assumes high expectations of its recipients – as students, as leaders within the university, and as citizens of the greater global community. The program seeks outstanding high school seniors who demonstrate evidence of experience, motivation, and commitment toward the ideals of the Levine Scholars Program. Requirements include:  Students must be applicants for freshman enrollment at UNC Charlotte in a baccalaureate program for the fall term immediately following their high school graduation. The Hispanic Heritage Youth Award: The Hispanic Heritage Foundation The Youth Award honors Latino high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their focus in various categories including: Business & Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Education, Healthcare & Science, Media & Entertainment, and Technology & Engineering. Wendy’s High School Heisman Award (Student Athletes only) This scholarship is open to both male and female student athletes who exhibit excellence in the classroom, on the playing field, and within their communities. The Horatio Alger New York Scholarship Program The Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs specifically assist high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. The Horatio Alger program seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income). Coca-Cola Scholarship Foundation This scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive a $20,000 scholarship. NESA academic scholarships are based on school and Scouting participation, academic performance, and financial need. All applicants must be members of the National Eagle Scout Association to receive a scholarship.  The Mabel and Lawrence S. Cooke scholarships ($25,000 - $48,000) - Awarded based on school and Scouting participation, academic performance, and financial need. Applicants must meet the minimum SAT or ACT score to apply  NESA STEM scholarship ($50,000) - Awarded to one applicant annually who has chosen to pursue a career in a STEM-related field. Applicants for the STEM scholarship who are not selected will automatically be considered for a Cooke scholarship worth $25,000 - $48,000 each NESA Merit Scholarship Requirements Eagle Scouts may apply for the NESA merit scholarships beginning in their senior year of high school and may continue applying every year up till the junior year in college. Applicants may win a NESA scholarship one time only. Previous NESA scholarship winners are not eligible to apply again. The Voice of Democracy Program: Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. Open to students in grades 9-12, who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States and its territories. This year’s theme is: Why My Vote Matters To enter:  Record your original 3-5 minute essay on an audio CD or flash drive  Must attached neatly typed essay to form  Provide these items to your school/group competition or local VFW Post for judging. Ron Brown Scholarship: Ron Brown Scholar Program The Ron Brown Scholars Program competitively awards Ron Brown Scholars four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 per year) to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship. The Hesburgh-Yusko Scholars Program (HYSP): University of Notre Dame This program is the first merit-based scholarship program at the University of Notre Dame. The program is also a leadership development program, engaging scholars throughout the academic year and summer. Notre Dame Undergraduate Admissions will identify outstanding candidates for the Hesburgh-Yusko Scholars Program from the entire pool of Restrictive Early Action admitted students (exceptional Regular Decision candidates will also be considered, if they submit a complete an application by January 1). Candidates selected by Admissions for HYSP consideration will be invited to submit an HYSP supplemental application in January. When semifinalists are determined from that pool (late February), HYSP will select finalists to come to campus to interview for HYSP in late March. Prudential Spirit of Community Award: National Association of Secondary School Principals Prudential Spirit of Community Award program is based exclusively on volunteer community service. In the past students have been recognized for making a difference and inspiring others to consider how they might contribute to their communities. Students must have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service within the last year.  Local Honorees: Receive a certificate of achievement from their schools or organization. The Robertson Scholars Leadership Program 5 Half Hollow Hills High School West Scholarship Board Last Updated: Wednesday, October 3, 2018


This scholarship program is specifically for students planning to attend either Duke University or University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Young leaders chosen for this program will receive a four-year scholarship (including undergraduate tuition, mandatory fees, room and board), unique access to academic and extracurricular offerings, three summers of domestic and international experiences, customized leadership and professional development opportunities and extensive community of Robertson Scholars, alumni, and staff. The application process for this scholarship is separate from the college application process set by Duke University and UNC at Chapel Hill. Most Valuable Student Scholarship: Elks National Foundation Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. The top 20 finalists will participate in an all-expense paid leadership weekend in Chicago during which they will interview with the national judges. These 20 finalists will be vying for two first-place awards of $50,000; two second-place awards of $40,000; and two third-place awards of $30,000. The remaining 14 finalists will receive awards of $20,000. The 480 runners-up will receive firth-place scholarships of $4,000. Women in Technology Scholarship: Champlain College This $40,000 scholarship is specifically for woman who will graduate from high school in 2017 and are interested in pursuing an education in the technology field. Nominated students will be eligible to win one of two $10,000 merit based scholarships, which will be renewed annually for three years, for a total of $40,000 toward the awardee’s degree in a technology field of study. Walmart Associate Scholarship Program This scholarship is available to employees participating in Walmart’s Lifelong Learning Program through American Public University and for associates pursuing a postsecondary education at an institution of higher education that is located in the U.S. and is accredited and listed on the official site of the U.S. Department of Education. Students who are enrolled in an institution other than APU may apply as well. Must be:  A U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident of the U.S.  Employed part-time or full-time with any division of Walmart for at least six consecutive months prior to the application due date for the award period in which the associate is applying  A graduated high school/home school student, have obtained a GED, or be a graduating high school senior who intends to enroll in a college or university upon graduation. DECEMBER Presidential Scholarship Program: Villanova University A renewable, merit-based award covering full tuition, room, board (up to 19 meals-per week plan), general fee, and the cost of textbooks for eight consecutive semesters. Representing diverse intellectual, social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds, Presidential Scholars are transformational leaders both on and off campus who have demonstrated a love of learning and a commitment to enhancing both their local and broader civic communities. Boston University PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP Boston University values academic excellence and hard work. Each year, the Board of Admissions awards the Presidential Scholarship to approximately five percent of our incoming freshmen who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. Presidential Scholars demonstrate excellence beyond the classroom and are leaders in their schools and communities. This $20,000 tuition scholarship is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study at BU. No additional essays or application forms are required. Students who wish to be considered for the Presidential Scholarship must submit official results of either the SAT or the ACT. TRUSTEE SCHOLARSHIP Boston University’s most prestigious merit-based award recognizes students who show outstanding academic and leadership abilities. Every year, Boston University welcomes about 20 outstanding students to the Trustee Scholars Program. Many of our current Scholars had perfect 4.0 grade point averages in high school and typically ranked in the top 5–10% of their class. Trustee Scholars are intellectually and creatively adventurous and demonstrate viewpoints, experiences or achievements beyond the usual. They are, in other words, not just top students, but extraordinary people. The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program: University of Texas at Dallas The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program is a program tailored to each Scholar’s own interests. In addition to UT Dallas’ academic curriculum, McDermott Scholars are engaged in self-initiated and program- provided activities, embodying the core experience of the program. The AXA Achievement Scholarship The AXA Achievement Scholarship provides over $1.4 million in scholarships to young people throughout the nation representing all 50 states, Washington DC and Puerto Rico. Students have the opportunity to receive a $2,500, $10,000 or $25,000 scholarship. In addition, for every student who wins a scholarship, a grant in the amount of $1,000 will be made to the winner’s school. Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Foot Locker Foundation would like to help student-athletes pursue their dreams of attending and excelling at a 4-year college/university. Charles Johnson Jr. Memorial Scholarship: New York City District Council of Carpenters Benefit Funds The NYCDCC offers a scholarship program through the Welfare Fund for unmarried, dependent, natural, or adopted children of eligible members. This benefit is a scholarship program for unmarried, dependent, natural or legally adopted children, regardless of age who, are entering college as a freshman without prior college credit, are entering college with prior college credit earned while completing high school, or are mid-year graduates who entered college prior to the academic year beginning in September. Jenkins Memorial Scholarship for Teacher Education: New York State PTA The New York State PTA awards $3000 scholarships to students who exhibit the potential to be outstanding classroom teachers. Burger King Scholars Program: Burger King McLamore Foundation The Burger King Scholars program assists employees, employees’ spouses or domestic partners, employees’ children and high school seniors in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada in continuing their education. Tikkun Olam Award: Diller Teen Awards Tikkun Olam is a central Jewish Precept which means “to repair the world.” Each year, the Helen Diller Family Foundation awards $36,000 to each of fifteen Jewish U.S. teens for exceptional leadership and engagement in service projects to make the world a better place. JANUARY William H. and Elizabeth Gray Danforth Scholars Program: Washington University in St. Louis This program honors students who embrace high ideals, whose life choices are guided by personal integrity, selflessness, a commitment to community, and a dedication to leadership and academic excellence. Danforth Scholars may receive full or partial tuition scholarships. The scholarship is renewed each year for the duration of the degree program, provided the scholar progresses academically and upholds the high standards of character required of scholars. John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest: John F. Kennedy Library Foundation In Profiles in Courage, John F. Kennedy recounted the stories of eight U.S. senators who risked their careers to do what was right for the nation. These leaders demonstrated political courage by taking a stand for the public good in spite of pressure by interest groups, their political party, or even their constituents. The Profile in Courage Essay Contest challenges students to write an original and creative essay that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. AnBryce Scholars aim to identify and cultivate future leaders who will be committed to making a difference in the complex and often fractured world in which we live in. AnBryce Scholars are among the first in their families to go to college, and they have encountered significant and socioeconomic challenges in the pursuit of their education. Candidates will receive a letter from the AnBryce Scholars Initiative with an invitation to apply to the program. The application consists of an essay and a letter of recommendation from a teacher. We ask that these be specific to the program, and not an essay or recommendation that was used in the Notre Dame fair. ARMY ROTC Scholarship: United States Army The four-year high school scholarship is for high school students planning on attending a four-year college program. Recipients of this scholarship will be committed to an eight-year service with the Army, serve full-time in the Army for four years with the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR), and serve part-time in the Army Reserve or Army National Guard while pursuing a civilian career. NCAA Scholarships and Grants The NCAA awards scholarships and grants for further education to athletes who demonstrate outstanding academic and athletic achievement. Member institutions are also awarded grants to improve academics and enhance campus culture. The NCAA awards more than $10 million in scholarships and grants annually to student-athletes and member institutions, in addition to the $2.7 billion allocated by schools to fund athletics scholarships. Additionally, the NCAA is providing $15 million in grant money over the next three years to fund a joint initiative with the U.S. Department of Defense that will include the most comprehensive study of concussion and head impact exposure ever conducted.

New York Blood Center High School Scholarship Program: New York Blood Center New York Blood Center allows students to earn up to a $1,000 scholarship for successful community service. New York Blood Center will help students organize the blood drive at a location of their choice, or students may utilize one of their 19 Donor Centers, or request a bloodmobile. New York Blood Center provides pre-drive support including posters/signage, educational materials, etc. On the day of the blood drive, New York Blood Center provides staff, donor beds, and refreshments. New York State Achievement and Investment in Merit Scholarship: New York State The NYS Achievement and Investment in Merit Scholarship (NY-AIMS) provides merit-based scholarships to NYS high school graduates who achieved academic excellence as a high school student, and enroll or plan to enroll in a public or private NYS college immediately after high school. Suffolk County District Administrative Judge’s Women in Court Committee Essay Contest This scholarship recognizes a woman who through her contributions and leadership in public service or government has made our communities more responsive to our diverse society.
