AMERICAN RED CROSS LEARN TO SWIM FOR CHILDREN

This course follows the progression of the American Red Cross swim levels 1-6. Repeat swimmers pick up where they left off, while new swimmers are tested on the irst day for proper placement. The age requirements for this class is at least 5 years old by June 29th. Ages 2-5 please refer below to course #113.
ADULT LEARN TO SWIM #103 This course is for adults who cannot swim or want to improve their swimming skills. Students are broken up into groups based on ability level. Topics include proper breathing, loating, strokes and water safety. ADAPTIVE SWIM Class #108 This class is suitable for individuals with physical or mental disabilities that prevent them from learning in a group setting. Classes are one-to-one and instructors will teach skills based upon the abilities of each individual students. This could be a child’s irst swimming experience without a parent. Water orientation is taught with emphasis on kicking, arm pull/breath control, back loat and water safety skills. The course is for children ages 2 to 5 years. Age requirement: 15 years old by the end of the course
This course will cover the basics of competitive springboard diving: approach, hurdle, take-off, light and entry. Emphasis will be on proper techniques and form. In addition, all ive groups of dives will be taught: forward, back, reverse, inward and twisting. The springboard course will also emphasize competition-level dives and techniques used in competition.
Maximum number of participants: 10 – Course enrollment is based upon water strength and performance on the prerequisite swim test ONLY.

This full course consists of American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. The course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies in and around pools.
Prerequisite testing for acceptance into the course will include:
SENIOR CITIZEN SWIM #106
1. Swim 300 yards continuously using the front crawl and/or breaststroke.
Lane lines separating fast, medium and slow lanes will be in the pool, as well as a general swim area with no lane lines. Showers, dressing areas and lockers are provided. Lifeguards are on duty during this program.
2. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
3. Swim 20 yards, surface dive 12 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, swim 20 yards on your back with both hands holding the object and keeping your face at or near the surface, and exit the water. This must be performed in 100 seconds or less.

RECERTIFICATION FOR CPR/AED #109 This course is suitable for those who have CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (Lifeguard) certi ication that requires renewal. Participants must complete written testing and practical skill scenarios to receive certi ication. Bring breathing masks, current certi ications and $19 cash for the ARC certi ication cards to the class. 3 Dates Available: Monday, May 16th; OR Wednesday, May 25th; OR Wednesday, June 15th (Only one date required) Time: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM Fee: $50.00 Location: HHH HS West - Room 103
ADULT LAP SWIMMING #101 RECERTIFICATION FOR LIFEGUARDING WITH CPR/AED #110
General open swim with lane dividers. Showers, dressing areas and lockers are provided. Lifeguards are on duty during this program.

This course is suitable for those who have a current LGT/1st Aid/ CPR/AED certi ication that requires renewal. A prerequisite swim test and validation of the participants current ARC certi ications will be conducted on the irst night of class. During the course, participants will receive a full review of all material. Participants must complete written testing and practical skill scenarios to receive certi ication. Bring your breathing masks, whistle, current certi ications, bathing suit and $27cash for the ARC certi ication cards to the irst class. Attendance at all listed dates is required.
