Human Resource Management Division

The Human Resource Management Division ensures that Tourism Malaysia has a sound organisational structure to support the complex functions and processes involved in achieving the organisation’s objectives. It also reviews and updates the domestic and international service schemes in line with Tourism Malaysia’s strategic direction. Among its many duties and functions are managing and administering staff appointments, confirmations, terminations, extension of probationary periods, domestic and overseas placements and transfers, job rotations, promotions, allowances/benefits, and other personnel-related matters.

26

As personnel records are a vital part of human resource management, the Division is responsible for keeping the Service Book and Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) up to date and verifying personnel service data. It also monitors declarations of assets made through the HRMIS. The Human Resource Automation System (i-HR) is regularly used to maintain and update Tourism Malaysia’s human resource data. To encourage career development and meet the organisation’s future staffing needs, succession planning is carried out for critical positions in top management as well as other management and professional positions. The Division conducts staff inspections and ensures that job approval letters are in order at Tourism Malaysia’s headquarters as well as domestic and overseas offices to meet the organisation’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

27

Another key function of human resource management is staff training and development. To this end, the Division plans and implements training and competency programmes at both domestic and international levels. Through training policy transformation and human capital development, it aims to create a group of professionals who are competent and proficient in the fields of tourism promotion and marketing.

The Division is also in charge of carrying out employee recognition activities to acknowledge the outstanding efforts and accomplishments of Tourism Malaysia staff. Other duties and responsibilities include updating and drafting new content for the Staff Handbook and Human Resource Division Policy Manual.

...it aims to create a group of professionals who are competent and proficient in the fields of tourism promotion and marketing.

In addition to overseeing staff contributions to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), the Division facilitates the retirement process and the retiring staff’s membership in the Pension Scheme in accordance with the terms and conditions of their employment and leave entitlement.
