Remember to say, “I found it in Kids Directory!”

10/17/2017 4:19:37 PM

In 1621, following the autumn harvest, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians came together for what is considered today to be one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, individual colonies, cities and states celebrated a Thanksgiving holiday on various dates. It wasn’t until 1863 that Thanksgiving Day became an official holiday when President Abraham Lincoln, in the midst of the Civil War, proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day each November. Pausing to say “Thank you” seems to be fading these days. It’s been replaced with “Have a nice day” or some other closing acknowledgement. But, the art of gratitude shouldn’t be lost on us or our children. Wherever you find yourself this month, in the company of family and friends, shopping, or among the community, take a moment to express a genuine “Thank you” and spread an attitude of gratitude. Here at Kids Directory, we are thankful every day for you, our readers, and the many businesses, organizations, and service providers who support our locally owned business as advertisers. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. ~Melinda Arnold, publisher
