Refrigerator Notes In this issue.. Features

What a difference a month makes. Last month, we were in the midst of a terrible winter storm. Today, as I finish the page layout, we’ve had two absolutely gorgeous spring days and are preparing for severe weather overnight and into tomorrow. April is one of my favorite months. I love the blooming trees and flowers...maybe not so much the accompanying pollen, though. There’s a sense of renewal as the grass in the yard greens up. Everything looks a little brighter and more hopeful. I’m very aware of how numbered my days are for my son in high school. Yes, I’m the mom of a graduating senior. Everything that happens these last two months of high school seem a little overwhelming. There are senior pictures to take, a senior bio to write, and a college campus visit to finalize freshman orientation and housing for the fall. Oh, yeah...and graduation. ~sigh~ I cherish the memories of times not all that long ago when he would crawl into my lap with a Thomas the Tank Engine book for us to read...over and over and over. The giggles as he splashed in his bath. The wonder on his face when he put on his first pair of eye glasses. Winning a Little League baseball game. A successful flight of a balsawood airplane at Science Olympiad. Hold tight to the memories you make this summer. Time passes much too quickly. Be safe. Wear your mask. Wash your hands. Hug your kids a little tighter. And, most of all, be kind to yourself. |
