OUR TIME CAMPAIGN MOVES FORWARD WITH CONSTRUCTION UNDER WAY
ALL PAWS IN HOLY INNOCENTS' EPSICOPAL SCHOOL HELD ITS >>> FIRST-EVER GIVING DAY ON WEDNESDAY, OCT. 28, 2020
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who answered HIGBY’s roar and made Giving Day a massive success. A project like Giving Day could not have happened without our generous challengers who inspired giving, as well as our volunteers and advocates for being HIES champions in the community and on social media. With all of us focused on one school, one mission, one day, there is nothing we can’t do.
THANK YOU FOR BEING #ALLPAWSIN FOR HIES!
IT'S NOT TOO LATE! We hope you will use this QR code – it will send you directly to our giving page where you may make a gift or pledge to both the 2020-2021 Annual Fund and the Our Time Capital Campaign to the extent your family is able.
Our Time Capital Campaign Moves Forward and New Humanities Building Rises
The Our Time Campaign, Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School’s ambitious $32.5 million effort, continues to hit benchmarks despite the unique nature of this school year. Launched in January 2020 with roughly $21 million raised, confidence in a tidy conclusion by school yearend was high. The climate for fundraising and construction quickly changed in early March due to COVID-19, when HIES implemented a campus shutdown, virtual learning and entered a completely new chapter in the school’s life. In May, the Board of Trustees voted to continue moving forward with the campaign, acknowledging that the needs of students and community would not change and that the benefit offered by the new buildings was still of great importance. With that decision, the campus transformation began and demolition and renovation of existing buildings was under way. The last several months have brought renewed energy to the Campaign. In June, HIES was notified of a $200,000 award from the SunTrust Trusteed Foundations, the largest ever made by this Foundation to an independent school. Since school resumed in August, the Campaign has continued to see tremendous support from both the school community and Atlanta philanthropic community. Early November brought another significant investment when the Our Time Campaign was awarded $2 million from the Lettie Pate Evans Foundation and cemented its path forward. HIES is grateful beyond measure for the belief and commitment of its generous donors. To date, $24.8 million has been raised and the momentum of this incoming support cannot be overstated. Buoyed by the school’s first-ever Giving Day on Oct. 28, which raised $148,550 toward Our Time, and delighted by the new Humanities Building rising in the center of campus, students, faculty and staff are energized and optimistic. Fortunately, due to prudent investment and forwardthinking leadership, the project remains on schedule with the Upper School Humanities building welcoming its first students in the fall of 2021. This will mark a new era of learning, exploration and innovation at Holy Innocents’. The next step in the campus transformation will bring a new Lower School and a central quad as the crowning touches on this phase of the Campus Master Plan. The Lower School is scheduled to open in the fall of 2022 and will offer new learning opportunities nurtured by design conducive to curiosity and collaboration. With more than $7.5 million to raise, it will take the continued dedication of the HIES community to realize goals within our reach. It is only with the help of parents, parents of alumni, grandparents, faculty, staff, alumni and friends that we can celebrate the unprecedented success of the campaign signaled by the largest gifts and highest totals ever raised in the school’s history.
