Editorial This is the second 420 editorial that I have had to write that is meant to tell you all to stay home this 420 and instead take this opportunity to stay close to home and ind a way t o h ave r a m o re i n t ro s p e c t ive celebration. Find a great spot somewhere, light up and look back at how far we have come in the last ive years. Individually and together as a group. Where were you and what were you doing ive years ago? Do you remember when cannabis was pretty much illegal? I do. There were some dark years leading up to cannabis legalization for a lot of people, but at the same time a lot of people fought hard for change. Change which eventually came and with it cane a sweeping sense of normalization for this sacred plant that has the power to do so much. I want to remind you to support the Last Prisoner Project as no one should be in jail for cannabis.

We may not be able to celebrate together this year in person but there are many, many online events to choose from. If those are not your thing, you could always put on your favorite stoner movie or three and bake

New Music! Steven Halpern, the GRAMMY® nominated founder of New Age music, has released his ethereal album CANNABIS DREAMS (4/23/21). This “tuning fork for the brain”™ creates an Auditory Contact High (ADH) that nurtures and uplifts body, mind and spirit. CANNABIS DREAMS is the latest of Halpern’s 100-plus music albums that for over 45 years have helped his listeners manage stress, reduce pain and facilitate sleep. It is among the irst to link healing music and healing cannabis, whose ancient roots trace back more than 5,000 years. The 11-track CANNABIS DREAMS features Halpern’s signature sound, a Rhodes Mark 7 electric piano. Lush hi-psi soundscapes

shimmer with luminous keyboards and hypnotic ambiences. The music supports relaxation, healing, meditation and spiritual well-being. The seed concept for this album was planted in 1982 when an anthropologist handed Halpern an extraordinary strain used by an indigenous Alaskan shamanic healer. “One toke, and I heard music in a very different way,” says Halpern, also founder of the “Quiet Revolution” in New Age music. “It inspired an improvised grand piano jam that was different from anything I had recorded previously. I wondered if certain other strains might inspire a new composition if used exclusively. The answer turned out to be Yes.” In 2015, Halpern was invited to be a Celebrity Brand Ambassador for a leading Cannabis dispensary. Although the collaboration was short-lived, their top shelf strain, called Mystic Haze, evoked a meditative, healing and spiritual high, and inspired the several variations of the title track on CANNABIS DREAMS. The album was completed when Halpern read about the new spirituallyuplifting strain released by entrepreneurial musician Carlos Santana and Left Coast Ventures. “After hearing music in meditation after sampling this strain, it was obvious I needed to include a new track inspired by Mirayo® by Santana,” he said. “I was able to book time in a recording studio on 11/11/20, and two extraordinary compositions now complete the album.” In 2021, with legalization in many states and with the medical bene its of cannabis more widely accepted, Halpern felt comfortable releasing this ‘cocomposed’ masterpiece. The album begins with the wordless vocals of the ethereal Renaissance songstress Kristin Hoffmann, of the internationally renowned BELLA GAIA ensemble, which can be heard on two of the tracks, “Cannabis Dreams” Part 2 and Part 3. “OG Sonic Chronic” is a collaboration featuring Paul McCandless on bass clarinet and Michael Manring on Zon® fretless electric bass. The spirit of each strain speaks through the music. Deep alpha brainwave entrainment tones are subtly mixed into the music, which entrain your brain to higher coherence to further support your immune system functioning. Grab a set of headphones for the full psycho-acoustic effect. CANNABIS DREAMS is Halpern’s heartfelt “thank you” to the master growers who keep improving on the spiritually uplifting and creativity-enhancing strains.

He began composing and recording this new music, trading his trumpet and guitar for the soothing tones of the Fender Rhodes electric piano. Since 1975, his music has been heard around the world in leading healing and holistic health centers, addiction and recovery centers, VA hospitals, massage therapy of ices, private homes and streaming playlists. y name is Amber Taylor and I'm a budtender working at the Friendly Stranger located in London Ontario

Canada.

How did you get involved with cannabis? My parents grow and I've always been interested in the whole process. I was really excited to be one of the irst budtenders working at a legal dispensary in Ontario. It's been a very interesting road and rewarding getting to be a part of the industry.

How does cannabis factor into your everyday life? Cannabis for me is used as something that manages my anxiety and appetite. I also ind it helps me sleep or relax after a long day at work. Have you encountered any challenges or adversity as a cannabis user? I do believe that some people including myself once and awhile can over-use the substance. I used to wake up everyday and smoke all

How did you move past these challenges? I slowed down and took a 2 week break from cannabis all together. I slowly introduced it only at night and on weekends if I was smoking during the day as long as I didn't have to work. And things have improved drastically. Some people choose to quit all together but I believe it's all about moderation. This is also a very rare side effect and I'm the only person out of my friends dealing with this so it's been hard to explain to people as I'm still a huge cannabis enthusiast that I just had to slow down.

throughout the day and feel like I was burning out by noon. I've learned the bene its aren't the same if your tolerance is ridiculously high. I also encountered a rare condition that actually hospitalized me called "CHS". It would take a really long time to explain this but I was waking up feeling sick everyday and would ind certain stressful situations or alcohol would trigger something called "cyclic vomiting" where I be throwing up for hours on end and the only relief for me was hot showers. I found a lot of helpful information on Reddit and Facebook groups dedicated to helping the thousands maybe more of people who are suffering from this. It's all in my belief- from over doing it, THC receptors all out of wack due to such high tolerance and thc amounts in the body at all times with no chance to lush it out of your system and restart.

Advice for other women entering tje cannabis space or thinking about trying cannabis for the irst time? Keep your head high and eyes peeled for opportunities in the cannabis industry. It may seem like bro culture or orchestrated mostly men but I do believe there's tons of room for females to lead the industry and make a difference and impact on the stigma of cannabis. If it's your irst time trying I always say start low and go slow. Nothing is worse than having a panic attack or greening out from your irst time using! Make sure you have a friend with you.

Last question - What are three things that you think everyone needs?

L EAVING A MARK

ON THE CANADIAN CANNABIS INDUSTRY WITH CANNADIS FINEST Trevor and Maeghan own and operate Cannadis Finest Dispensary INC, a craft cannabis dispensary in the heart of the Cariboo, BC. Their primary focus is customer service and providing high quality cannabis products at affordable prices.

After discovering my father's outdoor grow operation when I was 14 I became infatuated with cannabis and began learning as much as I could about this plant. I began growing around the age of 18 and started mastering my craft around the age of 27.

How did you get involved with cannabis?

At the age of 33 we moved to BC to help with a failing medical grow. Within a

year we had the operation turned around and productive. During that time we started our craft cannabis company. How does cannabis factor into your everyday life? Aside from making a living from cannabis it also factors into our lives several other ways. For Maeghan she uses CBD mostly to help with chronic pain, in lammation and anxiety. For myself I have ADHD. Cannabis has been very effective at keeping my mind focused to get through a day. It's not 100% effective all the time but for the most part it slows my thoughts down, especially at night which makes sleep possible. It helps with chronic back pain I have. Dabs help with energy and creativity. They're quite invigorating for me. We don't drink or anything else so cannabis is our method of choice when it comes to relaxing. It's so nice to get baked and watch movies or a great documentary. Have you encountered any challenges or adversity as a cannabis user? In my 23 plus years of consuming cannabis I've been very fortunate to not face any major hurdles along the way. No possession charges, no jail time. Learning to grow before Google was challenging. Lots of trial and error. Finding good cannabis was probably the hardest challenge I've ever faced.

H o w d i d yo u m o ve p a s t t h e s e challenges? After being burned many times with essentially "ditch weed" I decided it was time to grow my own. It took about 8 years to get a successful crop. Learning how to grow alleviated the previous challenges and opened up so many other opportunities. Any advice for others entering the cannabis space or thinking about trying cannabis for the irst time? For those wanting to be involved in cannabis make sure you can produce a great product. Try and do something that the other companies are not. Brush up on

your customer service skills. Be prepared to put the effort in. Be honest with your product and make sure it's pure. There's too many sub-par products that have been adulterated to boost their pro it margin. If you have great customer service with great honest products you'll go far in this industry. For anyone trying cannabis for the irst time, start small. Give your edible a chance to get into your blood. If you are smoking take small tokes and stop after 2 or 3. Don't try and be a hero and over-do it. You could sour the experience and never want to try cannabis again so tread lightly. Last question - What are three things that you think everyone needs? 1 - everyone needs to be involved in gardening. Not just cannabis but all a s p e c t s o f ga rd e n i n g e s p e c i a l ly producing your own food. Basic horticulture should be mandatory in schools. 2 - learn to cook. It's fun. It coincides with gardening. If you happen to be a cannabis user the munchies can offer some creativity in the kitchen. 3 - more access to craft cannabis and craft cannabis products
