Rifle Armor has been primarily in deployment for military and law enforcement special tactic units for defeating long rifles and larger caliber and higher velocity rounds. While law enforcement patrol officers have primarily been dependent on soft armor protection designed to defeat handgun threats up to 9mm, .357, and 44 mags. Today, there is a clear and present danger in urban and rural settings as law enforcement and first responders come up against long rifle threats and higher velocities in the form of AR15’s, AK47’s, and various hunting style rifles utilizing common .223, 5.56, 7.62, .308, 30.06 type ammunition. These types of rounds are high velocity and penetrating type of rounds for soft armor II and IIIA which are not capable of defeating or protecting against these bullets. Today, we have seen the unfortunate situation that beyond Military and Law Enforcement there is the unfortunate need for other First responders including Fire Rescue and EMS personnel to have protection including against rifle threats. Additionally, we have many clients in the Federal and Private Security marketplace that also face similar dangers from rifle and special threats. In recognition of these markets served and the growing risk of rifle armor threats, HighCom Armor developed RAK™ (Rifle Armor Kits) to provide a customizable armor solution in easyto-understand packages. Each RAK includes (1) carrier, (2) hard armor plates and (2) ID placards. All kits can be customized to your needs based on type of plate carrier, desired protection and plate cut, and inscription. Pouches, carrier bags and other accessories are also available. We believe the need has arrived to consider rifle armor upgrades to provide officers the only protection capable of defeating these threats.
