veggIerx program
VeggieRx is a fresh vegetable and fruit prescription program.
We believe that everyone deserves good food. We know that in order to make healthy food choices these foods need to be accessible and affordable to everyone. VeggieRx is a free program available in Bend and Prineville for individuals experiencing food insecurity and diet-modifiable disease, like diabetes or heart disease. All of our vegetables and fruits are purchased from regional farmers.

“At the time I was participating in the program I was going through treatment for cancer and having surgery. It helped provide a better understanding of veggies and fruits that I normally would not eat... I felt so much better having the different veggies to cook with and veggies that I can’t afford to buy usually.” - 2020 VeggieRx Participant, Prineville Since 2018: Purchased over $49,000 of VeggieRx produce from 21 local farmers
Provided nutrition counseling and nutrition education resources to over 400 people
In 2020 alone, we positively impacted the lives of 600+ family members in Crook and Deschutes counties in partnership with our local health care system
VeggieRx has provided over 7,500 meals worth of fresh, local food
