THANK YOU~ It's hard being a mom! But it's even harder being a mom of a special needs child . At High Hopes that fact is not lost on the many parents who bond, confer , connect and lean on one another in the High Hopes lounge. These moms (and dads) are connected by something powerful. Like horses, humans are herd animals and inherent ly need one another to suNive. However, moms of special needs children are sometimes left out , just like their children . Not at High Hopes! Here , we embrace moms (and families) as much as our participants. Moms connect with other moms who are facing many of the same strugg les. They create support for one another and develop a network. This network

provides helpful suggestions about treatments, doctors and new places to go. This is an importan t element of High Hopes and its mag ic! "High Hopes is a p lace where parents feel comfortable to open up and discuss the issues we are facing," says Mac Mummert whose daughter Anya started at High Hopes as a participant and is now a volunteer. "High Hopes is also a place we network with other special needs parents to get ideas about how to deal with certa in issuesand find new solutions. There is no judgement, just acceptance and we inevitably end up bonding with each other, because we see one another week after week. Often times, we develop new friendships that extend outside of High Hopes ."

CatherineMacMahonsays , "Highl-Iopes isn 'tjust about the rider. Sometimes it's the only opportunity a parent has to sit, socialize, network and just take a breath beside other parents who understand. " This May we celebrate all o ur High Hopes moms and a ll they do to protect , love , mother and stay positive for the ir children! We apprecia te you!
