“The Church will not go away, I will not go away. It is time for these people to stop,” said Pastor B.R. Dlamini. He wanted to share his story as a warning against criminals who are destroying his property. Over the past few years his car’s tires were destroyed, the vehicle was stoned and the windscreen broken. “I also suspect that the brake cables of my car were cut as a message to me, I could have died.” The latest in a series of destructive acts is the vandalising of newly built bathrooms of the God’s Victorious Army Church in Beverly Hills, Kellysville, outside Lydenburg. According to Pastor Dlamini the bathrooms were just finished when looters plundered them. He received permission from the Thaba Chweu Municipality to use the ground for a church in 2009. The Municipality has always been positive towards the God’s Victorious Army Church. Pastor Dlamini suspects it is a neighbour that vandalizes church property and his own property. This is an urgent appeal to the community of Kellysville and Mashishing to phone the SAPS at 013 235 2111 if they have more information. A case has been opened.

Re-registration of Sassa Post Office beneficiaries

LL social grants beneficiaries who receive their social grants though the Post Office or the Post Bank are requested to visit their nearest SASSA re-registration sites to make an appointment for re-registration. To obtain information about the nearest re-registration site, beneficiaries can call 0800 60 01 60. The Following documents will be required: · 13 Digit SA Identity Document · Copy/ies of all the children's Birth Certificate/s who receive a Child Support Grants, · Copies of the Court Order/s for all Foster Child Grants recipients. Children should also be brought for re-registration in the case of child support grants and foster care grants (learners can only be attended to after school hours, as this process should not disturb school classes). Society needs Know and understand domestic violence to accept D responsibility

he prevention of crime is a complicated topic which needs everyone's commitment to addressing its causes and accepting responsibility for preventing it. Crime prevention is better understood in terms of the following three approaches: Law enforcement (Patrols by SAPS, Security, Reservists, CCTV response, etc) Situational prevention (Educational programmes, Neighbourhood watch, Recreational facilities, Victim support centres, etc) Social prevention (CCTV systems, Improving street lighting, Pedestrian walkways etc.) Preventing crime requires the involvement of many different role players, and the establishment of partnerships between ranges of organizations is key to reducing crime in our communities. Partnerships should pool the resources and skills of all relevant role players for a specific crime prevention project. Together they can identify the most serious crimes in our area, plan how to reduce and ensure appropriate and ongoing management of the projects. How can the community get involved ? Neighbourhood watch groups can provide information and distribute crime prevention tips, support victims and deter attacks by patrolling high risk areas. Businesses can become involved by sponsoring vehicles and radio's for police patrols, by providing project management and by advertising these projects in the media. The following can be regarded as domestic violence: sexual abuse (whether you are married to the other person or not) physical abuse or assault (for example, slapping, biting, kicking, and threats of physical violence) damage to property or anything you value, stalking (when the other person follows or approaches you or your children repeatedly), economic abuse, that is, when the other person keeps money to which you are legally entitled from you in an unreasonable manner by refusing to pay or share the rent or mortgage bond for the home you share; or disposing of any property (household goods) in which you have interest, without your permission, emotional abuse (that is, degrading or humiliating behaviour, including repeated insults, belittling, cursing and threats), or any other controlling or abusive behaviour which poses a threat to your safety, health or well-being What are my options if I am being abused? You have the right to apply for a protection order at the nearest police station or magistrate's court or lay a criminal charge at the police station and apply for a protection order. An interim protection order can also be issued at any time of the day or night for your protection Who can apply for a protection order? Any victim of domestic violence. Children, and if they are too young, a parent or guardian, or any person acting on behalf of someone who is responsible for them, but with their permission or a police official. Commitment of SAPS to victims of domestic violence: It is the commitment of the SAPS to treat victims of domestic violence with sensitivity and care. As police officials we will treat victims with respect and protect your dignity; listen to what victims have to say; not insult or blame or suggest that it was their own fault that they were abused; assist you with empathy and care; and inform victims of their rights and options. At the scene of the incident, the police will locate the complainant and take reasonable steps to protect the complainant from any further danger, create an environment that is conducive for communication and obtain statements from the complainant and witness (es). issued. A warning received from the SA Police Service and BLISS to motorists travelling on the R36 near Bambi at the N4 intersection (Schoemanskloof road). Numerous vehicles were hijacked and robbed in this area. Keep doors locked and windows closed in the area. Keep vehicle in gear in order to pull of quick in case of emergency. Two arrests were made recently of suspects involved in hijackings in the area, but more incidents were reported. he first-ever complete Bible in isiNdebele will be published this coming weekend. With the launch of this Bible, there will be a complete Bible available in all of South Africa's 11 official languages for the first time. The need for a Bible in this language was identified years ago and the Bible Society was approached to begin such a translation. The Gospel of Mark, the first book of the Bible ever published in isiNdebele, appeared in 1977. In 1986 the New Testament and a selection of the Psalms was published. After this, work came to a standstill and it was only 12 years ago, in 2000, that the translation of the Old Testament and a comprehensive review of the New Testament began. Three translators, Pastor David Mahlangu, Pastor Peter Mabena and Prof Andries Breytenbach, also the source-text expert and project leader, worked full time on this task. They were supported by a review committee which met regularly to work through the text prepared by the translators and to make recommendations. The consignment of Bibles arrived in the country aboard the ship the Vecchio Bridge on 26 October 2012. “This is a historic event for the Bible Society. One million isiNdebele speakers will now have access to a Bible in their own language for the very first time. Setswana was the first indigenous language to receive a Bible 155 years ago. Now, the last language group is receiving their own Bible

and the complete Bible is available in all 11 official languages of our country,” says Rev Gerrit Kritzinger, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bible Society. To celebrate this event, the Bible Society has announced that these Bibles will be sold at just R25 a copy until the end of December. This will put many speakers of this language in a position to obtain a Bible of their own. For the first time ever in the history of the Bible Society of South Africa, the digital Bible in various formats will be launched alongside the printed version. On 24 November it will also be possible to download a free isiNdebele cellphone Bible from m.bibles.co.za, read the Bible online at www.bibles.co.za or buy an e-Bible for your e-reader through the Bible Society's online store at www.biblesociety.co.za

Julle het seker al gehoor van daardie teorie van “six degrees of seperation”. Basies behels dit dat almal vir almal ken binne kontak van ses persone. So jy ken vir Pietie, Pietie ken vir Sannie en so aan tot jy iemand ken wat iemand ken wat iemand ken wat iemand ken wat iemand ken wat iemand ken wat vir Barack Obama ken. Wanneer 'n mens iemand raakloop wat 'n goeie vriend van jou ken of wat van iemand weet wat ook sy of haar hare by jou haarkapper laat sny, speel 'n bekende toneel hom gewoonlik af. Een persoon sal gewoonlik sy kop skud en sê: "Jis, maar dis 'n klein wêreld!" en daarmee saam 'n ongelowige fluit gee. Op dié punt skop die sogenaamde “six degrees of separation” -verskynsel in. Dié teorie maak die aanspraak dat almal ter wêreld binne ses tot sewe mense aan mekaar verbind kan word en is in 1967 deur die maatskaplike sielkundige Stanley Milgram in die VSA geformuleer. Dit is onlangs deur navorsers op die internet getoets en herbevestig. Dit beteken kortliks dat elke mens iemand ken wat iemand anders ken wat dan weer nog iemand anders ken . . . en so aan tot die tweede laaste mens wat ook die uiteindelike teikenpersoon (dis nou die gedeelde haarkapper of vriend) ken - alles binne ses mense. Mnr. Pete Heltzer verduidelik dit só op sy webwerf: "Veronderstel jy ken 500 mense en elkeen van hulle ken 500 mense. Net daar het jy 250 000 moontlike kontakte. Die streeksvoorsitter me. T. Engelbrecht het lede ingelig oor volgende jaar se kompetisie artikels en lede gelukgewens wat pryse verower het tydens die kongres in Augustus. Die Suikerbosstreek het die derde meeste punte behaal tydens die kongres. Me. Karin Prinsloo, nuwe lid van die Lydenburgtak, was beslis beïndruk met die voorlegging, so ook al die nuwe lede. n 1992 het een van Lydenburg se geliefste inwoners met Werksklasse begin by die NG Suid-Kerk. Elke jaar is talle huiswerkers opgelei en geleer hekel, brei, naaldwerk en borduur. Aan die begin is kookklasse ook aangebied en almal het behoorlik gesmul. Die werksklasse het sedert 1992 net elke jaar van krag-totkrag gegaan met groot hulp van almal. Me. Van der Merwe het amptelik hierdie jaar ‘afgetree’ en gee die leisels oor aan die volgende generasie. Maar die bewyse van haar insiatief sal nog vir jare bestaan. Die werksklasse is elke jaar ondersteun deur almal wat ’n passie het daarvoor. Die hoogtepunt is definitief die jaarafsluiting waar die werkers spog met hul handewerk en daar behoorlik geëet en gekuier word.

Ford Figo updated

FORD has updated its entry-level Figo hatchback for 2013 with a some minor styling tweaks and a few interior embellishments including Bluetooth connectivity in the higher-spec Trend models but the most important change is in the pricing. There isn't one. In a commendable blow against inflation, Ford has held the prices of the updated Figo at exactly the same as the outgoing model. Now letâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s take a look at what you get for the same money. The lower grille has been revised, and there's a new chromed trim line on the upper grille. Head and tail lights have been revised, while the foglight housings are more sharply and aggressively defined. The entry-level Ambiente also gets a new eight-spoke rim while the Trend model has a new alloy rim design. Ambiente models now have a blue centre-stack bezel and revised seat fabric pattern, while Trend variants ditch the red fabric upholstery in favour of cool blue colour. The Figo's audio system switches easily between radio, CD/MP3 or iPod input and, on the Trend variants, Bluetooth connectivity lets you connect a cellphone to the system so you can answer calls safety while driving - or even put a second caller on hold! The Figo is, of course, Ford's previous Fiesta platform, recycled for emerging markets (including ours) with a choice of 1.4-litre engines in either petrol or turbodiesel format, each with a five-speed manual gearbox. BY THE NUMBERS The Duratec petrol engine is rated for 62kW at 6000rpm and 127Nm at 4000rpm, slurping 6.6 litres per 100km on the new European Driving Cycle and farting 156g/km of CO2. The turbodiesel Duratorq is good for a quoted 51kW at 4000rpm and 160Nm at 2000rpm, at a cost of 5.3 litres per 100km 139g/km of CO2. The simpler Ambiente is available

with either engine, the more upmarket Trend variant in petrol only. All Figos come with dual front airbags, antilock braking with electronic brake force distribution and a four-year or 120 000km warranty. NISSAN has introduced a limited-run Juke model specifically designed for the South African market; the Nissan Juke Midnight Edition.

GWM Gateway, the latest dealership to join the automaker’s network of 78, welcomed visitors to its Durban exhibition stand where, apart from the Steed 5 pick-up range, H5 SUV and the newly launched C10 compact hatch, show visitors feasted their eyes on the new H6 SUV.

The Midnight Edition incorporates a number of cosmetic enhancements that lend the car a more purposeful look. These include a set of 17-inch alloy wheels finished in black, a rear spoiler and wing mirror caps offered in a choice of black or red finishes and a sportier front spoiler plate. This model is based on the current Juke 1,6 DIG-T Tekna, which develops 140 kW and 240 N.m of torque, and will be limited to a run of just 100 units, costing R272 500 (R278 500 if specified with leather upholstery) apiece. Isuzu owners win big with oldest bakkies

The Isuzu KB continues to serve its current owner well past the 1 million kilometre mark, delivering heavy loads under harsh Samsunder, the retired former owner of Shepstone Battery Works in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal bought his Isuzu KB almost-new in 1979. He still owns it today, 33 years later. "The bakkie was used mainly to transport batteries on a daily basis. I then decided to hold onto it after selling the business as it is a part of the family. It is like a samurai warrior. I feel like it will last me forever. I have been very lucky with this Isuzu KB bakkie. I have had no problems whatsoever with it,’ said Samsunder.

Top table tennis Entheos Christian School participated in the SACSSA (South African Christian Schools Sports Association) Regional Table Tennis Tournament held in Steelpoort in October. Six students attended. Edward Leach and Ruan Arnoldi won silver medals, and Sharwyn Sutherland won a gold medal, and therefore could attend the National Table Tennis Tournament on 10 November in Benoni. 82 Athletes from the 5 Provinces participated in this event. Sharwyn ended the day with a well-deserved 7th place and would like to thank the sponsors that made it possible for him to attend this day.

Hengelnuus DIE volgende Longtom Hengelklub kompetisie is die 1ste en 2de Desember 2012. Alle Boot- en Oewerhengelaars welkom. Vir verdere inligting skakel die ondergenoemde nommers. Volgende Vergadering is op 6 Desember 2012 by Spur om 19h00. Vanaf 22/11(10 uur) tot 24/11 om 10 uur. Karp hengelkompetisie en opleiding sessie. Hiermee die koordinate (Kanhym landgoed, plus minus 20km buite Middelburg) waar die dam gelee is. Belangstellendes kan die naweek bywoon en sien watter toerusting gebruik word by die SA’s. OP Saterdag 17 November 2012 het Longtom Hengelklub Kwenadam se oewer gaan skoonmaak. Die oewer was erger as wat ons gedink het. Ons was ’n span van 20 werkers wat gehelp het. Ons het om-en-by 200 swart sakke vol gemaak, waarvan meer as die helfte drankbottels was. Ons wil ’n beroep doen op al die damgebruikers, om groot asseblief julle vullis saam met julle te vat as julle die dam verlaat. Net soos wat julle graag ’n veilige en skoon oewer wil gebruik, so wil die ander dam gebruikers ook. Maak 'n punt daarvan om te kom kyk hoe lyk ons Long Tom hengelaars se plekke as ons klaar gehengel het, en volg ons voorbeeld asseblief. Ons gaan weer binnekort ’n opvolg skoonmaaksessie deurwerk, dan sal ons weer terugvoering vir julle gee. Addisionele berig oor die groot skoon maak: ONDER die leiding van Jan Scheepers van die Longtom Hengelklub en die klub se lede het die gemeenskap Saterdag 17 November ingespring en die damoewer skoon gemaak. Die Longtom Hengelklub, inwoners van Lelievlei en Duncia Kinderhuis het die Kwenadam oewer opgeruim. Daar is 60 plastieksakke rommel opgetel en op 'n vragmotor gelaai. Hierdie aksie het onder die voorsitterskap van Jan Scheepers van Longtom Hengelklub plaasgevind. Frik Rousseau Direkteur van Lelievlei was baie dankbaar teenoor die hengelklub dat hulle die inwoners van Lelievlei en Duncia Kinderhuis saam genooi het na die dam. Die inwoners het die dag baie geniet en wil in die toekoms weer betrokke wees om hulle deel vir die gemeenskap te doen. Dit bly ’n uitgemaakte saak dat almal wat die Kwenadam gebruik hul eie rommel moet verwyder en verantwoordelik is daarvoor om hul kampplek weer op te ruim. Daar is ongelukkig nie genoeg persone om die oewer altyd skoon te maak nie. Hierdie area word ook deur baie hengelaars gebruik en almal wil tog hul gesinne op ’n veilige en skoon uitstappie kan bring.
