Huise amper in ligtelaaie Vlamme het Vrydagaand amper die rus lelik verstoor voordat dit baie naby aan die huise in Ruiterstraat, Lydenburg geblus is. Die inwoners van Lelievlei was dadelik bereid om die vlamme te help blus. Die vlamme was hoog en die inwoners het verwoed teen die brand geveg. Daar is tot laat in die aand gespook om die vuur te blus. Geen skade is aangerig nie. Dankie aan Lelievlei vir hul puik hulp aan die gemeenskap.

Step 1: The issues that need to be looked at under a magnifying glass: What are the projects that we have done thus far, what are the budgets that have been spent and most important, what are the long term benefits of each project for the community and economic upliftment/development as a whole. This undertaking should be done with a 100% degree of honesty and every aspect of each project should be scrutinized to determine whether the project was worth the effort (and money) in the long run (remember, LED is all about the economy getting a lift and then carrying on long after the benefactors have left). This would resemble an in-depth, baseline survey. After scrutinizing each project, the outcomes should be measured against the in-house LED policies. This can have a three way outcome. One, the projects are great and they are in line with in-house policies or, two, the projects are

not what they ought to be but are in line with the policies, and three, the policies have not been taken into consideration at all and the project outcomes, whether good or bad are not in line with the LED policies' desired outcomes. Each of these calls for the policies to be revisited. Are they in line with the DMR and DTI requirements? Are they in line with the actual LED definition? Are they in line with the IDP of the local municipalities? Then lastly but just as important, if the DTI and DMR requirements, the definition and the IDP fit, do the management team and the LED senior officials have a good feel for the policy? An in-house, inter-active, joint action planning/training session is urgently needed (ALL senior managers need to attend) as LED is not a loose standing entity BUT an integral part of business. It makes for a huge part of the triple bottom line and it is the responsibility of every manager to contribute to the outcomes. Here you would need a knowledgeable, possibly outside person to facilitate to keep discussions on track! Last, but not least, the budget needs to be revised, determined and confirmed long in advance as many of the projects that are truly LED, stretch over a period of one or two, sometimes even three years. When roads and other such large projects are done, the planning and sourcing of the correct service providers for these projects sometimes take up to as much as 6 months and then the implementation is done in phases. What I have discussed in this article, is only the entry level work that needs to be done before any new project is even considered. Briew e aan die redakteur
Die lewe skuld ons niks Ek droom van Namakwaland gisteraand. Van die plate blomme. Ek weet nie wat dit beteken dat ek soos ’n skapie wil huppel tussen die blommetjies nie. Maar ai dit bly ’n lekker droom. Die droom het my laat dink aan die Byeboerwa se lirieke: ‘Blom in die hare en bye wat pla.’ Die afgelope naweek het ek op RSG gehoor hoe die toeroperateurs die blommeland-vakansies adverteer. So ’n paar jaar gelede was ek en my ma in Namawakland. Daar was blomme, plate daarvan in Namakwaland. Gansogies, Bokhorinkies, Gousblomme, Bokbaaivygies, Bababoutjies, Botterblom en Suurvye. Doemprofete het gewaarsku voor ons vertrek: “Julle sal niks blomme sien nie.” Maar hoorhierso, ek moes partykeer my oë knip om weer te kan fokus op die kleurpalette. So ver soos jou oë sien is dit geel, wit, pers, pienk en groen waar ’n maand gelede net barre aarde was. Op party plekke staan varkore tussen lang gras en luister wat die wit Sneeukoppies plat op die grond fluister. Dit is stil waar die mense staan en kyk want niemand hoef te sê dat dit mooi is nie, dit is net. As iemand wat my eie ding doen was dit ’n ondervinding om vir vyf dae saam met ’n toergroep vakansie te hou. En ek is heerlik verkeerd bewys op my vooropgestelde idees oor mense. Die mense op die bus, soos Laurika Rauch sing, raak vriende. Dit is gewis, elke mens het ’n storie. En soos mens rustig jouself oorgee aan die natuur sien jy die beauty in elkeen se storie. Terug in die stowwerige Mpumalanga het ek besef die 6 000km wat ons gery het was ’n voorreg. Behalwe dit het ons wyn geproe in Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Vredendal en Groot Constantia. Ons is op langs die Weskus, Yzerfontein, Saldanha en middagete geniet by die Paterenoster Hotel. Deur die hele Namakwaland het ons gereis tot bo by Gharies en Springbok. Onder andere deur die Jonkershoekberge, Piketberge en die Pakhuisberge waar C. Louis Leipoldt begrawe lê. Ek sal graag my voete wil verskuif na Paarl of Franschhoek permanent. Die landskap is asembenewend. Kaapstad met sy een voet in die see en Tafelberg met sy wolkkombers is pragtig. Elke keer as ek die Weskaap deurreis sê ek daar is te min tyd. En hierdie keer was nie anders nie. Alles was wonderlik, soos A. G. Visser dig: Maar kollega, ek gaan terug na my land waar ou Heidelberg hang aan die Suikerbosrand Ai blommie, hopelik is ek weer eendag in Blommeland.

Die Outoppie
Videospeletjies TOE ek jonk was, was sport nie groot by my nie. Ek het net meisies en motors op my brein gehad. Vir afleiding het ek videospeletjies op Atari, Sinclair Spectrum en Commodore gespeel. Maar tussen die meisies en motors was daar min tyd. Onthou daar was ongelukkig nog die akademie ook. Vandag, naby aan sestig, is my prioriteite steeds my

Lelievlei se inwoners is baie positief in die gemeenskap betrokke en het in die verlede al verskeie brande in die dorp gaan blus, die Longtom Hengelklub is al verskeie kere gehelp om Kwenadam van rommel skoon te maak en met die onlangse munisipale staking het Lelievlei se inwoners vullissakke in die strate opgelaai en verwyder. Ons het ’n plig teenoor die gemeenskap van Lydenburg wat ons omring met liefde. Ruimte ontbreek om elke persoon kerk, besighede, boere en politieke partye by name te bedank vir u volgehoue ondersteuning aan Lelievlei, maar wees verseker dit word waardeer. Indien enige organisasie of persoon ons hulp nodig het voel meer as welkom om ons te kontak.

Sport is steeds ’n simpel bedrywigheid. Ewenwel, Lydenburg se Mall is nou bietjie nader en Sondag is ek en ma Burgersfort toe, vir die “specials” sien. Ek verpes “shopping”. My skoonpa het enige Mall ’n mal winkel genoem, en hy was reg. Mens loop jou moer af en gee net geld uit. Maar ma het vir haar ’n nuwe naaldwerkmasjien en omkapwatsenaam masjien gaan koop. So na 1705 kilometer se geloop, skouers skuur met ongemanierdie mense en ’n seer rug en kop besluit ek toe maar
ek moet myself vir al hierdie nonsens beloon. Ek koop toe vir my ’n PSP videospeletjie met ’n klomp “games”. Nou sit ek saans met my oë vasgenael op ’n skermpie, ’n geplie plie in my ore en speel Tekken, WWE, Fifa sokker, golf en sulke snert. Jy slaan ’n ou dat die bloed in strome by die masjientjie uitloop dat jy dit nie kan vashou nie, maar hy bly staan. Watter snert! Gelukkig is daar ’n paar motorsport speletjies en ’n outydse “space invaders”. Nou soek ek nog net “tetris” en “Pac Man”. Watter waansin is die goedjies nie? Maar dit hou jou weg van drank, stadige perde en vinnige vrouens.

Gaste het by die prag geleentheid kans gehad om direk met verskaffers te praat oor probleme en uitdagings wat hulle met diere ervaar. kos vir honde, katte voels, perde asook basiese veeartseny produkte soos dipmiddels. ’n Wye verskeidenheid diere speelgoed en bykomstighede soos honde bakke en hokke is alles onder die Alzu Lydenburg dak beskikbaar. Mnr. Zak van Aswegen van Alzu hoofkantoor het gesê dat hulle perde reeks iets nuuts is vir die Lydenburg tak. Hy het gesê dat hulle kliente soos perderskole kan ondersteun met benodighede. Vir wildsboere is daar ’n wye veskeindenheid dipstowwe, dip-bakke en drink bakke. Indien boere die behoefte het dat ’n kundige hulle op die plaas kom besoek kan hulle met Alzu Lydenburg se bestuurder Jan Venter in kontak kom. Farewell at Estralita Met harte wat omgee On Friday Estralita said farewell to colleagues, who have been with them for a long time. Mr. Joseph Dikhali, has been with them for 41 years, Ms. Jean Basson has been with them for 33 years and Ms. Jane Mabana has been with them for 15 years. Ms. N.C. Nkosi, principal at Estralita, together with co-workers and students gave them a wonderful farewell. They were
joined by Mr. Ruben Mpangane who is the circuit manager and Dr. Andries Shabangu. The children performed a play and the choir sang at the event. Dit is georganiseer deur Hester van Zyl wat die Afrika afgewaardigde is vir Miss World International by Niagra Falls in die VSA later die jaar. Sy gaan saam met Jeanetta KrugerHibbens, wat SA verteenwoordig, deelneem. Dit is duidelik dat daar dames met vele talente in hierdie dorp is. · Wolprojek onder leiding van Me. Chairmain Tait. Breipenne, hekelnaalde en wol word benodig om gemeenskapskomberse te maak en blokkies te brei vir komberse. · Saai Sente projek deur Venessa Beytell gaan emmertjies in sentrale besighede plaas, en sodoende geld insamel vir behoeftiges. · Lelanie van Staden het ’n hart vir boemelaars: Lelanie van Lalie se Plaaskombuis, wil graag een maal per week pakkies opmaak en uitdeel aan haweloses. Sy wil ook vir die apteke vra of hulle dalk Vit.C kan skenk om vir behoeftiges te gee. Harley Davidson 1200 CA Sportster MONDAY morning eight o’clock – a phrase that strikes fear into the hearts of many. A symptom of a rat-race society, enslaved by the workplace. Well, not today, I told myself as the big V-twin thumps the iconic Harley soundtrack over the vineyards of Wellington at the start of our Detour ride. We had three bikes, almost 600 km of scenic Western Cape landscape and all the time in the world – well almost. My steed for the trip was the 1200 CA Sportster. Do not be fooled by the name – you’ll not be slaying any superbikes on the road. What it does mean is that in Harley world this bike is light, nimble and surprisingly fast. An impromptu drag race confirmed that although it only has a “small” 1 200 cm3 engine, it still managed to shame the other two Harleys owing to the good power-to-weight ratio. Ground clearance is again surprising and allows the rider to enjoy the twisties without the loss of chrome or worse. As with any Harley, the saying “remembering the scenery rather than the road” stills applies. Styling wise, the bike is low, slim and devoid of any unnecessary hang-on items – true bike essence. The beautiful tricolour paint scheme makes the bike stand out and draws many eyeballs. The short, straight handlebars are comfortable and add to the sporty feel. If your neighbourhood is still unaware of you latest acquisition, the optional Screaming Eagle exhaust pipes will bellow out the message in no uncertain terms. Harley was not so keen for us to take the bike on such a long trip as it is not its forte (no fuel gauge, low seat, highish bars, etc.) but the optional screen certainly transformed the bike into a comfortable cruiser. The best part, however, is the price: R118 000. This means that the Harley lifestyle is within reach of mere mortals and not only reserved for doctors, lawyers or the Gupta family. Obviously all Harley riders are equal once on the road. If you are sitting at work and feeling trapped – get yourself the Sportster and break free, in true rock ‘n’ roll style, of course. Ons het twee weergawes gery, met twee verskillende sterkte enjins, een met McGee Yamaha se kleure en ’n witte sonder enige besigheidsplakkers, daarom die twee bussies op die fotos
VOOR vandag het ek het persoonlik laas in 1973 met ’n Ford Transit gery. So ’n ligbloue met ’n tweeliter V4 petrolenjin. Almal het hulle gery. Die hippies het blommetjies op hulle kante geverf met slagspreuke soos “Don’t laugh, your daughter might be inside”. Pret, kultus paneelwaens. In Engeland en Europa verkoop daar tans vyf Transit bussies of paneelwaens vir elke een van of ’n Fiat, Opel, Mercedes of Peugeot. Vandag is die Ford Transit Custom terug in Suid Afrika en die sleutelwoord is Custom. Jy spesifiseer die vlak van luuksheid, die enjinkrag (high of low), die manier waarop die laairuim uitgelê is (paneelwa) of die sitplek rangskikking (bussie). Jy beluit of jy togbeheer (cruise control) wil hê, of Bloutand, of rakkies in die dak en elke ding. Geen twee Transit bussies hoef dieselfde te lyk nie. Kort- en langasafstand weergawes is te kry met die kortas weergawe wat reeds ’n allemintige ses kubieke meter vrag kan dra! Standaard kry jy die paneelwa (of bussie) met ’n 2.2 liter turbodiesel, radio / CD speler met iPod en USB in, twee 12V kragpunte, lugversorging, lugsakke, teleskopies en op en af verstelbare multifunksie stuurwiel en ten volle verstelbare bestuurdersitplek. Daar is ABS, EBD, ESP, LAC, TSC, EBA en HLA. Daar is vier bottelhouers en twee paneelkissies, een reg voor jou bokant die instrumente met sy eie kragpunt. Instrumentasie is volledig. Daar is ’n groot skuifdeur links en twee agterdeure wat van vloer tot dak na die kante toe oopmaak. Jy kan die deure 90 grade (normaal) laat oopmaak, of met ’n knip stel om ’n volle 180 grade oop te maak, as jy wil terugstoot tot teen ’n laaiplatform om swaar items direk te laai. Daar is elektriese ruite en sentrale sluit. Die voertuie is in nege kleure met twee sitplekoortreksel opsies beskikbaar. Die duursame verfproses bestaan uit drie verskillende lae net om korrosie te keer en een laag kleur en een laag deursigtige verf. Die Transit het ’n besondere klein draaisirkel, ligte kragstuur en parkeersensors voor en agter (opsie), wat hom uiters geskik maak om te maneuvreer in beperkte spasies. Die groot kantspieëls het groot geïntegreerde “blinde kol” spieëls met geïntegreerde flikkerligte. In eco-modus is daar ’n liggie wat aandui wanneer jy na die volgende rat moet oorskakel. Van ratte gepraat, die Transit kom met ’n sesspoed ratkas, met die ratkierie wat hier by jou links van die stuurwiel op die paneelbord sit en seepglad skakel. Lekker! Die 2.2 liter Duratorq enjin is beskikbaar in drie kragsterktes nl. 74kW / 310Nm, 92kW / 350Nm en 114kW / 385Nm (sport). Die bussie trek soos ’n bom en ons kon met die middelsterkte model bult op en bult af teen 160 “cruise” in sesde rat. Dié paneelwa loop en hy is stabiel! Die wringkrag is uitstekend en ons glo dit sal met vrag en ’n sleepwa goed loop en steeds ekonomies wees. Laaivermoë wissel tussen 1.2 en 1.5 ton en sleepvermoë is tussen 1.3 en 1.8 ton. In luukse modelle is Ford SYNC beskibaar vir stemopdragte, Bloutand vir jou foon en die radio en daar is parkeersensors en halfleersitplekke. Alles is ook op die lekker klein multifunsie (wanneer gespesifiseer) stuurwiel beskikbaar. ’n Swaardiens dakrak opsie vir lang lere (elektrisiëns en soortgelyke diensverskaffers) is beskikbaar. Daar is verskeie wegsteek laaiplekkies vir pakkies ens. beskikbaar onder die passasiersitplek wat vanaf binne die kajuit of die laaispasie toeganklik is. ’n Paar goed het my tydens die toets opgeval. Eerstens die luuksheid van die kajuit vir ’n paneelwa. As dit myne was, het ek self my aflewerings gedoen, so lekker ry dit en so goed is dit toegerus. Ek sal g’n drywer met my bussie laat ry nie! Tweedens die aangename rit, veerstelsel, skitterende remme, ratskakeling en kajuitstilte. Jy kan werklik 160 ry en rustig met jou passasier gesels of na die klankstelsel luister. Pryse wissel vanaf R 302 700 tot R 364 600, afhangende van asafstand, vlak van luukse toerusting en enjinsterkte. My mening: ’n Skitterende paneelwa wat uitstekend sal werk vir enige tipe besigheid. Yamaha FJR 1300 WHEN Yamaha introduced the original FJR1300 in 2001, I doubt the Triple Tuning Fork people thought it would still be going strong 12 years down the line. With its sound basic design, the FJR has developed a loyal following, especially in Europe where it has gained a lot of respect for its mile-munching prowess. But time marched on and the FJR's competition drew steadily ahead by offering electronic gimmickry that enhances performance, safety and comfort on the long road. Yamaha’s response was to completely update the FJR for 2013 with redesigned bodywork that gives it a sharp, modern look and an electronics package worthy of a top-line sports tourer. The result is that the bike, despite its 12-year-old design, is poised to regain some of the relevance it may have lost over the last few years. The list of updates is fairly impressive, much of it focused on riding comfort. Apart from the aforementioned redesigned fairing, the bike also has a new adjustable windscreen. Yamaha claims that the adjustment speed is now twice as fast. On the open road the size and weight counts in its favour and the bike felt stable and reassuring up to speeds well in excess of the national speed limit. Wat sou jy sê van ’n motor waarvan die middelste (B) dakpilare nie in lyn is nie? Of ’n motor wat van regs aan die kant en van links nie dieselfde is nie? Dit is die Veloster en dit is die mees briljantste ontwerp ooit! Hier het jy ’n pragtige tweedeur sportkoepee wat plat op die aarde loop met ’n lekker lang deur vir die bestuurder, soos dit ’n ware tweedeur betaam. Van links het jy ’n pragtige sportkoepee met normale vierdeur uitleg. Ja, die voorsitplekke kan kantel vir agterste passasiers om in en uit te klim, maar dit is nie nodig nie. Aan die linker (veilige) kant is daar ’n agterdeur. Skitterende beplanning en ontwerp. Die luikrugdeur heel agter is groot en maak oop om ’n groter as normale bagasiebak te wys, groter as by ’n “hatchback”. As jy in die middelspieëltjie agtertoe kyk, kyk jy deur twee agterruite, maar een ruit is plat op die dak! Jy moet dit sien om te glo. Nou, wat die res betref het ons ’n normale, mooi motor. Die Veloster is luuks met leersitplekke, elektriese ruite (3) sentrale sluit, ritrekenaar, multifunksie stuurwiel wat teleskopies en op en af kan stel, outomatiese klimaatbeheer, en ’n besondere 8 luidspreker raakskerm klankstelsel met “subwoofer” en iPod en USB in. Daar is 2x 12V kragpunte, bekerhouers tot in die middel van die agtersitplek, Bloutand, togbeheer, ABS, 6x lugsakke, misligte voor en agter, trurat kamera, EBD, VSM, AYC en 18 duim allooiwiele. Die 1.6 dubbelnok 16 klep enjin is ook ’n juweel. Dit het varieerbare kleptydbeheer en wil graag “rev” Die rooilyn begin eers naby die 7 000 opm punt. Nog ’n belangrike ding, dit het ’n tydketting in plaas van ’n “cambelt”. Die enjin gebruik dieselfde GDi (Gasoline direct injection) tegnologie as party Kia’s. Dit sorg vir beter brandstofdoeltreffendheid en beter kragbeheer. Goeie ontwerp. Sonder ’n turbo en ander fieterjasies maak die 1600 so 103kW en 167Nm. Dit voel nie besonder kragtig nie, maar as jy hom looi en die rewolusies hoog hou loop hy dat dit bars. Opdraendes is geen probleem nie en branstofverbruik behoort goed te wees. Daar is ’n direkte ekonomie meter op die ritrekenaar, tesame met baie ander funksies. Teen 120 km/u draai die enjin teen sowat 3000 opm in sesde en 4000 opm teen 160. Ratskakeling is van die beste wat ek nog getoets het. Die motor is vas op die pad en die veerstelsel ferm. Daar is geen bakrol om draaie nie. Die Veloster trek aandag. Ek kon kwalik foto’s neem, want almal “oe en aa” so en almal wil aan dit vat en inklim, dat ek hulle op ’n kol moes wegjaag om te kon werk. Dat die nuwe generasie Hyundai motors indrukwekkend is is geen geheim nie. Dat ek daarom van hulle hou is ook geen geheim nie. Dit is pragtige voertuie met goeie bougehalte en al die speelgoed binne in. En die Veloster is die kersie op die koek. Maar dit alles gesê beteken nie ek het nie kritiek nie. Die 18 duim wiele is mode en mense hou daarvan. Dit verkoop. Maar dit is nie prakties op Suid Afrikaanse hobbel en slaggat paaie nie. Die bree bande is so plat dat dit hard gepomp moet word (2.3 bar) en saam met die ferm veerstelsel voel die motor nie gemaklik op die Dullstroom hobbelpad teen 180 nie. Slaggate sal jou uithaal en die wiele en bande in daardie grootte is buitensporig duur. Die Veloster sal perfek wees in alle opsigte met 16 duim wiele en baie meer rubber. Twee modelle is beskikbaar. Hulle is in alle opsigte behalwe vir die ratkaste, identies. Die 6-spoed handrat kos R259 900 en die 6-spoed dubbelkoppelaar kos R276 900. Merkwaardig is dat die gewone sesspoed effe vinniger tot by 100 en met topsnelheid as die duurder dubbelkoppelaar is. My keuse. Alles in ag genome is hierdie ’n briljante, pragmotor wat alles vir almal bied. Jy gaan nie sommer beter kry in dié prysklas nie. Ek soek een - met 16 duim wiele! Andre Coetzee.

WASTE LICENCE FOR GREATER TUBATSE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY The Proposed Development Entails Decommissioning and full Rehabilitation of the Steelport (Goudmyn 337KT,Ohrigstad(Ohrigstad 443KT) and Praktiseer(Praktiseer 275 KT) Dumping sites, Greater Tubatse Local Municipality, Limpopo Province: LICENCE NUMBERS: 12/4/10 - A/20/GS6 : 12/4/10 – A/20/GS7 : 12/4/10 – A/20/GS8 NOTICE OF A WASTE MANAGEMENT LICENCE Notice is given in terms of Section 10 (2) of the EIA Regulations GN R.543 for the waste licence granted on the 23rd of May 2013 by the Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism in terms of section 49 of the National Environmental Waste Act, 2008 (Act 59 of 2008) for the following activity: The decommission and full rehabilitation of the Steelport, Ohrigstad, and Praktiseer Dumping sites. The proposed facilities are situated at farms Goudmyn 337KT, Ohrigstad 443KT and Praktiseer 275 KT in the Greater Tubatse Local Municipality, Sekhukhune District Municipality, and Limpopo Province. In terms of Chapter 7 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations No. R 543 of 2010, interested and affected parties may lodge an appeal against this decision. Sponsors help Thabiso with sporting event THE Spin City For Charity event created a lot of excitement and everyone in Mashishing and Lydenburg couldn’t wait to show their talent at the Mashishing Stadium. The event was in aid of Thabiso Mabunta who needs serious medical treatment. Monate Events with the Mash Crew and other stakeholders made this event possible. The event brought the whole community together. Big businesses like Nedbank, McGee’s, Westvaal Mashishing, Bosch, HiQ, Thaba Chweu Municipality for their support and other businesses that made it possible.
