Police bring daring gang's actions to an abrupt end O
n 21 June the police in Machadodorp worked tirelessly overnight, tracking down seven villains who callously attacked a 54 year old Somerset farmer on 20 June. It all unfolded when the vigilant police members received information about a house robbery incident and immediately responded. During their response, they spotted a sedan with two male occupants. When these two men were questioned about their presence on the farm, they became evasive and told the police that they were in the vicinity to buy oranges. The vigilant members discovered that the two men were not telling the truth as there are no orange farms in
Machadodorp. They continued to question them until the men confided that they were waiting for other men, who went to the farm to collect something. The police then checked the information and found it necessary to investigate further. The two men were subsequently apprehended. The police helicopter, K9 Unit of Lydenburg, the Tactical Response Team (TRT), and the Flying Squad were activated to assist with the search. One farmer also made his private helicopter available to assist the police. This integrated approach led to the arrest of three other suspects. These men were found at approximately 02:00 on the road in the process of hitch hiking to Nelspruit.
The police questioned them until they confidently informed the police that they were part of the daring gang. After their arrest, they disclosed the whereabouts of the sixth man. The police followed the information and the man was nabbed, also hitch hiking towards Nelspruit. On him a firearm and a laptop were found. During further investigations, it appeared that a police dog was shot by one of the suspects who got rid of a firearm by throwing it into the river. The police divers were summoned and the firearm was recovered together with a laptop which was stashed in the grass near the river. All six suspects aged between 21 and 46, will appear before the Belfast strate's
Magistrate's Court on Monday, facing charges of house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. A probe by the police revealed that the 46-year-old suspect is on parole for a murder he committed in Masoyi. Further scrutiny confirmed that these villainous men are also wanted for a series of similar ruthless crimes in other parts of the province. One suspect with two unlicensed firearms is still at large, but police are optimistic that he will be arrested soon. The police expressed their sincere appreciation to the farmer who without hesitation freely made his helicopter available to assist them.

PERTINENT questions to the Mayor and Municipal Manager of Thaba Chweu Municipality are to be addressed at the meeting on 2 July 2013 at 12 noon in the town hall. 1. Do we have sufficient strategic spares in our stores to maintain the electrical equipment? 2. Have you / your technical director assessed your appointed electricians in order to determine whether they are qualified to work on HT electrical distribution? 3. Have you developed a plan / strategy to ensure sufficient water supply to the town during periods of electrical failures? 4. Have you developed a plan / strategy to deal with the sewerage spillages and to do proper clean ups in the spillage areas? 5. Have you developed a plan / strategy to improve the revenue collection of the Council? 6. Give us a proper explanation as to how the situation has come about that the Council owe Eskom in excess of R115 million, and the Hydro operator in excess of R8 million? 7. Is it true that the contractor who manages the municipal refuse dump site (s) has now for the second time withdrawn his services due to non payment - how is it presently managed? 8. The Rooidraai Sub Station - must the Council still pay Eskom the required deposit of +/- R1.5 million in order to commission Rooidraai - how will this be funded? 12. Have we reached a (new) agreement with the service provider managing the Hydro station - what is the agreement?
Scene of the meeting last week, another peaceful discussion is planned.
W
ith the schools closing for the winter holidays on Friday, 21 June and two major events in the Lowveld, Trans African Concessions (TRAC) called on travellers on the N4 to be extremely cautious because of the expected high traffic volumes. Arthur Coy, CEO of TRAC, the company responsible for the management and operation of the N4 toll route, says travelers should be highly alert to avoid possible dangerous situations. “Please make sure your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition before you take to the road, do not speed or overload and keep your following distances.” With schools closing on Friday, 21 June (starting again on 15 July), the Komati Prawn Festival from 21 – 23 June and the Innibos Arts Festival taking place in Nelspruit from 26 – 29 June, the N4 toll route is expected to be very busy. Road users should expect delays at peak times. To avoid slow moving traffic, especially at toll plazas, it is advisable to travel outside of peak periods. Travelers to the Prawn Festival are advised to use the Tenbosch road to approach Komatipoort. Visitors to the Kruger National Park can also use the Tenbosch road to reach the Crocodile River Bridge entrance. Coy also called on motorists to take extra precautions when weather is poor. “Poor visibility, mainly due to heavy mist during early morning hours or at night, causes dangerous driving conditions. Road users are reminded to switch head lights on, increase following distance and lower travelling speed during adverse conditions. “There is also an increased danger of veld fires during the winter months. In the dry winter season and with strong winds veld fires often occur along the grassland areas adjacent to the N4 toll route. Smoke from the fires may swirl over the N4 and cause extremely dangerous driving conditions.” Coy asked road users to be extra cautious on the road during these conditions and to report fires and/or dangerous conditions along the N4 to TRAC's emergency help line: 0800 8722 64 or +27 82 881 4444. "Quality road infrastructure is an asset which benefits the economy, stimulates growth and development and provides a safe link between people and places. A road, however, needs on-going maintenance and improvement to ensure that it continues to add value. As toll concessionaire of the N4 Maputo Corridor, TRAC is committed to provide a road of high standards. This requires regular road works which may inconvenience road users.” Currently five of these projects involve major construction work and possible longer delays. There are three locations in Schoemanskloof, between the Lydenburg interchange and Montrose, where the road is being re-surfaced and where STOP/GO traffic control may result in delays of up to 30 minutes in total. Another STOP/GO control is in
place at Komatipoort between River Hill Lodge and Komati Oasis BP Garage east and westbound where the road surface is being milled and repaired. Delays can be up to 40 minutes. In the Middelburg region, a new dual divided highway is being constructed between Van Dyksdrift and Hendrina (N11) interchange. It will consist of two eastbound lanes and three westbound lanes upon completion (approximately March 2014). Current construction work may cause some delays. The section from Schagen interchange to Burnside (Nelspruit Ring Road split) is being widened to a dual divided carriageway. Traffic is now diverted onto the eastbound carriageway. Road users should be alert and aware of slow moving or turning construction vehicles. New passing lanes are being constructed from Mara to Kaapmuiden in Crocodile Gorge. Road users should be alert and aware of slow moving or turning construction vehicles. There is a 60km/h speed restriction along sections of the Gorge. Current construction work may cause some delays. Lane closures may occur and minor delays can be expected on the following sections: Solomon Mahlangu to Bronkhorstspruit east/westbound where road marking is in process and road studs are being installed Diamond Hill toll plaza to Cullinan westbound for the installation of a bending plat WIM Bronkhorstspruit to Bossemanskraal eastbound where re-surfacing with a thin asphalt layer and sealing are being done Middelburg Toll Plaza to Van Dyksdrift eastbound where the pavement is being repaired (expected to be completed by early next week) Road users should also be cautious of slow moving tractors and grass cutters where grass is being cut in the road reserve Fire breaks are being burnt in Schoemanskloof and Elands Valley. Smoke may swirl over the road and cause poor visibility. Never drive into smoke, rather stop in a safe area and wait for it to clear. In an attempt to help fight fires along the N4 toll route, TRAC donated two fully-fitted water carts to the value of R115 000 to the communities of Schoemanskloof and Elands Valley. TRAC operates a 24-hour Help Desk seven days per week to provide travellers with traffic information, traffic updates, emergency and accident response and roadside assistance. Road users are advised to stay in touch with the Help desk before and during trips to ensure that they are best informed about the ever changing status en route. The Help Desk number is 0800 8722 64 or 082 881 4444. When in Mozambique, they can call +258 84 34 34 34 6 for assistance. For real time traffic updates and route information, follow TRAC on Twitter: @TRACN4route.

The first step is to be more aware of what is going on around you, especially in the mornings and evenings when it is still dark outside. When leaving home at any time of the day, always ensure that all doors and safety gates in your home are properly locked and that you shut the door behind you. If you are going out alone, possibly to the shops or the gym, it is important that you let someone know when you expect to return. Never let your home appear to be empty, regardless of whether you are at home or not. Visibility can be drastically reduced on grey, gloomy days and crooks could take advantage of this to try and enter your property. you are going away for the weekend or on holiday, use a night/day light which can turn on automatically when it becomes dark – this way you will also save on electricity. NEVER leave the driveway gate open – even if someone is home or if you plan to be away for only a short while – criminals can see this as an invitation to enter onto your property. Exercising caution when driving into your property is equally as important. Grey conditions mist and rainfall could divert your attention away from what is happening around you, leaving you vulnerable to being caught off guard. If you have an electric gate, open it before you turn into the driveway, this will prevent hijackers from boxing you in and it will allow you the chance to get away. If you have to open the gate manually, first make sure that you surroundings are safe.

More oompie, more tannie…. die ou boere-aanspreekvorm is al lank uit die oude doos. Accommodation: Our rooms are cleaned daily, beds are made, all refuse are removed, and the rooms are dusted and swept. All rooms have basins with running hot and cold water. Toilet and bathing facilities are spotlessly cleaned and toilet paper is supplied to all the residents once a week. Medical attention: Residents who require medication are personally attended to by the sisters. If anyone has a sore throat, headache or tummy ache, attention is given immediately by the staff at no cost to the residents. Medical staff is on standby day and night. Kitchen staff: The kitchen staff are always cheerful and willing to assist the residents. The meals and quality of the food is excellent. The manager: Our manager Ms. Jeanetta Kruger is available at all times for assistance if we have a problem. Her husband Mr. At Kruger is also available at all times to take and fetch residents to the bank and doctor etc. I write this letter on behalf of all the residents of Rusoord Old Age Home. We thank everyone involved for our quality of life.
Thank you for the opportunity to discuss project Enos Maunye, Project Manager at Thaba Chweu writes: We would like to thank and appreciate the opportunity given to Thaba Chweu Municipality by the Lydenburg Mashishing Business Chamber for presenting the “War on leaks Project”. OLD GRUMPY
Enough! SO, following the previous week’s gathering of irate taxpayers, it would be interesting to watch what happens. Usually when Mashishing’s residents toi-toi and hold protest marches, the rest of Lydenburg’s people shut their doors and shrug it off with comments like “it’s their business”. Well it is not! Last week these residents also had enough and they arrived in unprecedented numbers. Their message was clear:

“Enough of this nonsense. Enough with the municipality looking after their own pockets and not paying Eskom. Enough with incompetent people trying to work on infrastucture that they clearly do not understand. Enough with power failures, enough with non working street lights, enough with sporadic refuse removals, enough with filling potholes with useless sand. Enough with the interruption of water supply and enough with raw sewerage running down the streets. Enough with robots not working and I am sure our Mashishing colleagues can add a long list to this. Enough with political in-fighting and back stabbing. Enough with intimidation and cheap political promises that everyone know can not be delivered. Enough with the disrespect to poor people. Your house (the municipality) is in disarray and
you put all of us to shame. What a mess. As an old man, my message to the Municipality is simple: Start working together. Start communicating with all your people. Listen to your elders. They are wise. Hats off to the Mayor, who is prepared to stand and face the music, when the rest want to run away. He is a brave man that needs to be supported. Share your successes and problems through the press with your residents. Get your affairs in order and do it quickly. Stop buying cars and paying bonuses to fools. Pay your legitimate debts. Fix our town’s infrastructure. If you do not, the next mass meeting will be different. You will see Mashishing and the business community and residents in town unite. Whether you were legitimately elected or not, will become irrelevant. People have had enough. A time may come when things may get out of hand and you could find yourselves out of work. Be forewarned. You now have time to fix the problem, but not a lot!

Intussen het me.
National uniformity in regard to the measurement of rentable area THE SA Property Owners' Association's (SAPOA) new method for measuring floor areas was approved in August 2005, but it's only in the last two years that Excellerate Facilities Management (EFM) has seen an increase in interest among commercial property landlords to amend records accordingly. This is according to Sean Liebenberg, new business executive for EFM, who says the new method was introduced as a more accurate means of measuring floor areas for office, retail and industrial space and its use is recommended for existing and new buildings. As members of SAPOA and as intended, Liebenberg says EFM and their clients are embracing the method to achieve national uniformity in regard to the measurement of rentable area.He says it is interesting that in general, landlords benefited from the fact that the remote common areas (such as entrance foyers, plant and service rooms) have been allocated on a proportionate basis to tenants. On
the other hand total rentable areas decreased because supplementary common areas, such as stores in office blocks, now come out of the total rentable area of a building and are listed separately and charged at a rate or cost at the landlord's discretion. Liebenberg says in the past EFM had to produce measurements with four decimal places in order to balance with property management systems rounding off at three or less decimals. Adoption of the SAPOA recommendation of rounding off to the nearest full square metre eliminates numerous debates with various consultants over minor decimal differences. In regard to offices, the rentable area comprises the usable area plus the common area. The common area is broken down into two further categories; the primary common area on any given floor and the remote common area such as entrance foyers, plant and service rooms located elsewhere in the building, or on site and not on the given floor. The rentable area excludes a supplementary area that may
produce additional revenue (for example storerooms, balconies, terraces, service passages, parking, etc).Liebenberg says in their experience these definitions have made substantial changes in comparisons of old to new measurement methods. Remote common areas have increased the rentable area while in turn the supplementary common areas have reduced the rentable area.He says this varies from building to building and in some cases they either even each other out, or increase or decrease the total rentable area - depending on respective sizes and areas. The actual position of the shop-front behind the notational lease line is not taken into account in the measurement of the usable area. Often the lease line, especially with old buildings, is not indicated on any hard copy drawings or historical records, he says and determining the maximum extent is open to interpretation so they have relied on landlord interpretation and opinion. Applications vary from the inner surface of the glass or shop-front detail to the furthest extent of structural columns protruding into the primary common area and between consecutive shops. Isolated columns and enclosed penetrations are excluded from the usable area irrespective of size, while projections in demising or external walls exceeding 0.25 square metres in the sectional area are also excluded. Liebenberg says columns have created
an issue as the new method refers to isolated columns and projections in demising walls. However, the text and diagrams in use in the current SAPOA document leave room for differing interpretations. Isolated columns are easy to identify and remove while demising projections could be interpreted differently, either in or out depending on sectional area calculations.“We suggest having these interpretations and decisions or rules documented and approved by the landlord as the applied rule which can be retrieved and justified should another party challenge the measurement." Often the larger retail stores will include service passages, dedicated plant rooms, toilets and loading docks however, this varies from store to store, but EFM has encountered increases in rentable area between 2.5 and 7 percent, he says. In regard to industrial property, the major change with industrial buildings is the classification of the buildings into two categories - single tenant industrial buildings and multi-tenant industrial buildings. In single tenant industrial buildings the rentable area is the construction area measured at each covered floor level over the external walls to the external finished surface - without any deductions. In multi-tenant industrial buildings the rentable area comprises the usable area plus the common area. “While we have made adjustments to records for single tenant industrial buildings, in our experience very little has changed regarding multi-tenant industrial buildings," Liebenberg says. The adjustment in rentable area is quite noticeable for single tenant industrial buildings. Liebenberg believes the project is worthwhile and welcomes the new measurement method. In the end the areas will not change immediately for a tenant lease but in the long-term on renewal or negotiation of new leases a definite increase in rentable area and property value will be experienced. As landlords apply this new measurement method in regard to their portfolios, interpretations will be resolved and in time the SAPOA document can and will be enhanced to reflect these experiences and adjustments. Adoption of the SAPOA recommendation of rounding off to the nearest full square meter eliminates numerous debates. www.propterty24.com
Building regulations fail in Kantoor Street
Evidence of the new addition being built over the border line.
Criminals use this door, on the white wall, to enter the premises of the residents in the Kantoor street alleyway. The owner of the building directly opposite Pick n Pay Lydenburg, has asked his next door neighbour countless times to rebuild this wall. But the other owner just ignores the requests. The criminal element increases weekly with drug dealing and other illegal medical activities taking place there. Left: A High Court order proving that the current owner is the rightful owner of the alley between the buildings, but everyone uses it.
This article will be followed up next week because the story is not over. ~ Michelle Boshoff

Pave the way THE quickest way to neaten the exterior of your home is by paving pathways, the driveway or other outside areas. Pavers come in an attractive array of patterns, so you're sure to find a design to suit your style. TIP: Bear in mind the kind of traffic the paved area will endure when choosing pavers. For an industrial area use pavers with the highest compressive strength. What you'll need: Sharp sand, mortar (ratio 4:1 well-graded river sand and cement with water), pavers, spade, plate vibrator, broom, steel trowel, screed board, rake, rubber mallet, string, wooden stakes, 2 wooden boards the length of the pathway, spirit level, hammer, nails (to attach boards to wooden stakes), precast concrete kerbstone or bricks (optional). Step 1: Use wooden stakes and string to mark out the area to be paved and dig down to a depth of about 100 mm. Ensure the entire area is even and level. Put wooden boards on either side of the pathway, securing them with wooden stakes and nails. The tops of the boards must be level as they're your guide for leveling the sand. TIP: Allow some slope for water run-off. Step 2: Lay a bedding of course or sharp sand, spread and leveled to a thickness of 25 mm. Run the screed board along the top of the wooden boards to level the sand. TIP: In areas where heavy traffic is expected spread a thin layer of cement over the bedding course for better load-bearing. Step 3: Lay the pavers in your chosen pattern (see tip with illustrations). Leave a gap of 2-5 mm between all bricks. This reduces the risk of the corners chipping. Use the rubber mallet to tap the pavers gently in place without disturbing the sand bed.
Step 4: Work the mortar mix into the joints with a broom. Vibrate the surface with a plate vibrator. Repeat the process if the joints are not completely filled the first time around. TIP: Brush the pavers clean and gently hose down to remove excess mortar. Step 5: Remove the boards. Add mortar mix at an angle to bed the outside pavers. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours
before light foot traffic is allowed on your new paving. Avoid heavy traffic on paving for at least a week. TIP: If you don't use boards to restrain paving at the edges, use existing structures such as pavements or walls or precast concrete kerbstone or bricks along the edge.
A herringbone pattern (above) is recommended for driveways as it is hardier. Basketweave patterns (below) are suitable for pedestrian traffic.

2. Haggle for a better deal
Buyers have become accustomed to haggling over the price of a car, down payment or interest rate on a loan when purchasing a car. Few drivers realise you can employ the same strategy for a lease.
paneelbord in. Daar is dubbelbuis gasskokbrekers rondom.
So, wat is my bevinding? Andre Coetzee.

The first road test ever published?
ED: Proper road tests usually take place over several days where a team of motoring journalists test highly technical issues with very sophisticated equipment. Such tests are also very strenuous on a car, as braking tests for instance are repeatedly done from certain speeds, using maximum braking effort. Same with acceleration tests, where the vehicle is hammered from standstill to whatever speed is required repeatedly. For top speed tests a special open piece of flat road is required, law enforcement officers (traffic cops) are involved to close the road and provide special permission and maximum speed tests are then conducted both ways on the same stretch of road.
EVER wondered when the first "new-car road test" was printed and which car was highlighted? I collect car and motorcycle magazines and books – have done for more years than I care to remember. Storing them all safely has been difficult and if I should move house, it meant a chance to cull them significantly.
We do not have these luxuries. In our opinion, our readers are not concerned about a second here and there, when testing acceleration. Same with braking. If it takes point 2 of a second longer to stop from 100, it is really irrelevant.
So, the Highlands Panorama goes about it slightly differently. We drive the car Today, as ever, I’ve looked forward to and still enjoy reading objective and unbiased in real world conditions. Some of the text in that Austin 7 report was probably not terribly helpful. “It is certain that there is a great future for the Sunshine Saloon – a type of body consistently fostered by this journal [The Autocar], and the ‘England’ model is not only of very simple construction but it does definitely give one a waterproof closed car for bad weather and a freely ventilated, wholly open car in good weather.” Wheelbase/length/width dimensions of the vehicle were given - for some reason as there were few garages then! Again, the tyre pressures listed would be cheerfully noted – but the braking test ‘graph’ that can be seen at the bottom of the data panel can only be described as quaint! It translates to 15 metres from 40km/h. Lastly, fuel consumption was listed as 12.5 miles/gallon, which translates in modern terms to about 6.75 litres/100km - not great for a car that weighed less than 450kg! *The Autocar was first published on November 2 1895 and The Motor on January 28, 1903. Interestingly, when The Autocar was born there were said to be no more than a half-dozen cars were running around Britain while the editor of the day, Henry Sturmey, anticipated a healthy future for the car enthusiast... Jeep recall affects SA WHEELS24 reported that Chrysler would be recalling nearly 435 000 Jeeps to fix air bag and transmission fluid leaks - turns out South African owners are affected. This recall follows a separate story published on June 3 2013, in which Wheels24 reported that Chrysler had rejected a US safety agency's request to recall as many as 2.7-million Jeep SUVs to fix an alleged fire risk. Chrysler will recall more than 254 000 Patriots and Compasses built between 2010-12 in the US due to airbag issues. It's also recalling more than 180 000 Jeep Wranglers (2012-13 units) to fix transmission fluid leaks. Chrsyler SA's media liaison manager, Richard Sloman, reports that South Africa will be affected. Sloman said 4260 of its 2010-12 Jeep Patriot and Compass would be recalled to correct an issue with the "occupant restraints control module". Sloman said: "About 4260 units are affected locally. Software upgrades will be performed at no cost to customers. Affected customers will be notified directly.” According to an official statement by Chrysler US: "The upgrade was deemed necessary after it was discovered that seat-belt pre-tensioners and side-curtain airbags might not function properly during slow-developing rollovers. "The affected models, 2010-12 Jeep Patriot and Compass SUVs, are equipped with sensor-activated restraint systems that deploy when a rollover appears imminent. The Chrysler Group is unaware of any injuries, accidents or complaints associated with this issue.” According to Chrysler, software errors in Patriot and Compass models could cause late deployment of the side air bags and seat-belt tightening mechanisms. A power-steering line can wear a hole in the transmission oil cooler on its Wrangler models powered by 3.6 V6 engines. The SUVs can leak fluid, damaging the transmission, reports Chrysler. Both model recalls will commence in July 2013. Wheels24.co.za

Tips to warm up windows this winter
D
uring the winter months our 'summer-designed' homes lose heat through windows that are dressed for warmer seasons. With so many options to choose from, you can have stylish window treatments that look good in summer and help keep your home warm in winter. If you prefer a minimalist approach to dressing windows, unfortunately blinds will not keep out cold draughts. Add a layered look with drapes and a pelmetto top off the window and the room will look good and be warmer. A pelmet or valance is also great for hiding window hardware. Install floor-to-ceiling drapes in a room with a low ceiling, or where windows are low and need to be visually heightened. Venetian blinds are an affordable and
practical way to dress up windows where privacy is required, but do little for warming up a home in the colder months. A simple rod or rail mounted over the window allows you to fit side-

National Blood Donor Month and World Blood Donor AS a non-profit organisation, the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) provides an essential service which is rated amongst the best in the world, in the provision of blood and blood products, research and training provided. SANBS is endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO) which has mandated that World Blood Donor Day be celebrated globally, on 14 June every year. In support of World Blood Donor Day, SANBS has marked June asBlood Donor Month as blood donations play a vital role in the provision of helping pregnant women, chronic patients, people involved in accidents and various others medical surgeries including cancer related conditions. World Blood Donor Day is significantly important this year, as itcelebrates 10 years of lobbying for safe donation and blood products globally. WHO has adopted the slogan, "Give the gift of life: donate blood" which focuses on raising awareness about the need for blood donations and safe blood, as well as to thank the voluntary blood donors for giving lifesaving blood. Blood Donor Requirements: Weigh 50kg or more, Between the ages of 16 and 65 years, Good health, Lead a sexually safe lifestyle Donation Process: The entire blood donation process takes approximately 30 minutes. You will be given a pamphlet containing information on safe blood transfusion and risk behaviour to read. You will complete a donor questionnaire to determine if it is safe for you to donate blood. You will sit with our friendly registered nurses to discuss your questionnaire in more detail. An iron level and
blood pressure test is taken. After the questionnaire and tests approve you as a suitable donor, the blood donation process begins. This process takes only 15 minutes. Who benefits from the donated blood? 27% General Medical Cases: e.g. Blood cancer treatment, HIV, Anaemia Treatments etc. 26% Women who lose blood during childbirth and gynaecological cases. 21% Scheduled Operations. 10% Paediatric Cases (surgery involving the surgery of foetuses, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.). 6% Orthopaedic Cases (treatment of musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumours, and congenital disorders). 6% Research. 4% Trauma Cases like vehicle accidents etc. Blood Donation Fast Facts: 1. Studies show that 8 out of every 10 people will need donated blood at some point in their life. 2. Only less than 1% of our 50million + population donate blood. 3. A single unit of blood can save up to three lives. 4. A brand new sterile needle is used for every donation and discarded through incineration afterwards. 5. SANBS does not pay people for donating their blood. SANBS holds various blood collection drives at workplaces, schools, churches, shopping centres, community centres and various other institutions. For more information on World Blood Donor Day and Blood Donor Month activities and how you can get involved, kindly contact our communications team at Hot Mustard for a media related queries or to secure an interview with SANBS: SANBS Communications Manager: Vanessa Raju | 011 761 9300 | 071 602 7241vanessa.raju@sanbs.org.za | www.sanbs.org.za
