The police at Ohrigstad are requesting the assistance of the community in tracing of the wanted suspect named Serious Lazarus Rathaga 25 years from GaMadiseng village outside Burgersfort. The suspect who robbed the police officer of his service pistol during May 2017 at Ohrigstad, was arrested at Mankweng policing area last year. He appeared before the Praktiseer Magistrates court and his case was set to appear again at the Burgersfort Regional court for trial in August 2018, when he failed to appear the court issued a
warrant for his arrest. The suspect is regarded as armed and dangerous, rather inform the nearest police station or contact the investigation officer D/Sgt Mantshwane at 082 704 3943 or contact Ohrigstad SAPS at 013 238 0205.
The Burgersfort Police have not been able to make an arrest after an alledged love triangle resulted in the death of innocent vitims. Police say a man in his 30's allegedly torched a rented room belonging to a 35-year-old man and another room belonging to his girlfriend. Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspect also died after he entered one of the rented rooms which had caught fire. “Acting Police Commissioner of the South African Police
Service (SAPS) in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers has condemned in the strongest possible terms the continuous acts of domestic related attacks and killings which are still prevalent in some parts of the province,” says Ngoepe. “This condemnation emanates from an incident, which occurred in the early hours of this morning outside Tubatse policing area outside Burgersfort where three people died and one minor child injured, our investigations in this matter are continuing.” (additional source SABC News and Burgersfort Police)

Organisations reached out to Soli Deo Gloria to aid them with food supplies and fill up their food store for a while. Jamiatul Ulama South Africa was represented by Mr Bilal Vaid and Mr Mohammed Ismail. They were very impressed by the overall state of the housing, the camp, vegetable garden and everything that they are doing at Soli Deo Gloria. Mr Fazel Ismail from the Crescent of Hope organisation came through especially from Groblersdal to make the donation. Earlier this year Crescent of Hope and Jamiatul Ulama installed solar geysers and a water tank at Soli Deo Gloria. Mr Ismail also represented the Loskop Round Table. Mrs Gerda Venter, manager at Soli Deo Gloria, took them around the facilities and showed them what a difference every resident is making at the facility. Everyone works and helps out. “We would like to thank these organisations for the wonderful donation and making the geysers and water tank a possibility,” she added. By Michelle Boshoff

Saun Maroga (current President of the Children’s Parliament), MMC for Community Services and Planning Mrs Sabhina Manzini and Mrs Esselin Shabangu (Department of Social Development) THE late President Nelson Mandela began the initiative of the Children’s Parliament. Recently a Grade 12 learner from the Skhila Secondary School in Lydenburg, Shaun Maroga, became the President of the parliament, representing South African youth. The Children’s Parliament focuses on problems that face children in the 21st century. It is part of the national Department of Social Development and is in line with the country's Children's Act, to “create a platform for children's participation in democracy and provides them an opportunity to influence policies and strategies intended to realise their rights”. Mrs Esselin Shabangu (Provincial Department of Social Development) came to Lydenburg to discuss the achievements of Shaun Maroga with the Members of the Mayoral Executive. Everyone was very impressed by Shaun’s great achievement. It was noted that he was chosen by children from around South Africa. “Shaun you can be a doctor, a lawyer or our next President, anything you want to be, the world is open to you,” said Mrs Shabangu. The aim of the Children's Parliament is to create a platform for children to engage and give their input on policy matters affecting them. The idea is to use the legacy of Nelson Mandela as a tool in promoting active civic participation and

1 Corinthians 15:33: Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals. Our Father in Heaven, give our church leaders, our school leaders and ourselves as parents and people in society the strength to, with love and dignity, advise and guide people to become morally upright people and to create a society worthy of your Divine Teachings - Amen.
Society’s failure WE are very quick to blame government, the SAPS, religious leaders and the business community for the failures in society. It is however not their job to be in your house, or in your car to look over your shoulder to ensure that you behave in a civilized and proper manner. Proper conduct starts with you personally and privately, there where nobody sees you. Those are the foundations of family and families make up society. Unfortunately we live in a country where we have father absenteeism, where we have fake church leaders and

where we believe that a school should teach our children proper manners, discipline and respect. Schools should teach numeracy and literacy. The glue that forms the way a society operates consists of you and me, every one of us. What examples do we set? How do we conduct ourselves at home, or in a group? How many commuters travel in a taxi daily and keep quiet when the driver drives recklessly or throws refuse out the window? We keep quiet because we fear retribution. When a taxi driver skips a red robot and kills three children we all say it is not right and leave it at that. That becomes society’s norm. Why don’t you refuse to travel with that specific driver? Surely another taxi will pick you up. If that driver gets no business surely that will sort him
out? When we see drug dealers selling their products we look the other way. When no one sees us, we beat up the women in our houses and molest our children. Surely the neighbours are aware? But they keep quiet. The solution is very simple. We should stand up and be counted. Many of us are good people. People who can see what is wrong in our area. Why do we not talk to these misfits of society? Are we afraid? If so, why do we not act as groups against these individuals? I am not advocating vigilantism. You do not need to kill or attack criminals, but you can surely lobby and get your friends to speak out. Isolate them and chase them out of society. Teach young people respect and good manners and you will not find pupils knifing each other and terrorising teachers. You and I, the “good” members of society need to stand up and be seen. Without that we will in our lifetime see and experience the total collapse of society as a whole. Is that what you want?

The 2019 calendar will also feature two new venues this season with all events counting towards the championships, with the season running from mid-March to early November. The tranquil town of Dullstroom, better known as one of South Africa’s premier fly-fishing locations, was a new venue on the calendar last year and earned excellent reviews. The SACCS championships will be made up of five 400 kilometre events and the marathon Toyota Kalahari Botswana 1000 Desert Race. The Botswana event will retain its current 1000 kilometre format, with the five remaining races

Planning for power outages and load shedding LOAD shedding is once again an inconvenient reality across South Africa, and unreliable power supply looks set to be part of our home and work lives at least for the short to medium term. Aon offers some valuable tips to help you cope with load shedding and minimise the disruptions: Check that the battery back-up on your alarm, electric fencing, irrigation and other programmable appliances is working and that you have sufficient back-up time to see you through an outage. If the battery runs down completely, you will need to re-programme the time slots when the power comes back on. Keep a spare key with you for your electric gate motor and know how to override your electric gate to gain access to your property if necessary. Be on alert for opportunistic crime don't leave your car running in the driveway while you're occupied with the gate. Get someone at home to open and close immediately behind you. Better still, arrange
with your armed response company to see you in and out of your premises. Power surges spell disaster for sensitive equipment like computers/laptops, TVs, fridges, sound systems and so on. Leave appliances unplugged when not in use and have good quality surge protection at all plug points. Better still; get a qualified electrician to install surge protection onto your main distribution board. Some insurance policies have surge protection specified as a requirement of cover, so check your policy wording. Empty your fridge / freezer of perishables if you are going away on holiday – there is nothing worse than coming home to a rotten mess due to a power surge or tripped switch. · The only safe way to use a generator is to have it professionally installed by a qualified electrician with a transfer switch to ensure that you can safely switch between electricity from the grid and from the generator when required. · Never overload the generator with more
appliances than it can handle as you can cause serious damage to sensitive appliances. Always use the specified heavy-duty power cable extensions. · Never use a generator indoors or in an enclosed garage as a generator emits deadly toxic gases. Only purchase approved generators certified by the necessary local control boards. · Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) systems are like any other electrical power generating systems although the equipment used is different than that used for conventional electromechanical generating systems such as generators. A PV array produces power when exposed to sunlight and other components are required to properly conduct, control, convert, distribute, and sometimes store the energy produced by the array such as DC-AC power inverter, battery bank and a system and battery controller. · It is imperative to have your PV system designed and installed by qualified
professionals to ensure the safety of your system which is attached to your most valuable asset – your home! Make sure you get an electrical certificate of compliance and advise your broker about the new additions.
