Car cuts through petrol station and nearly runs over petrol attendant A Nissan Tiida allegedly cut through McGee’s Garage Tuesday just before 08:00 to avoid the traffic at the Voortrekker and Viljoen Streets four-way-stop. He was however ‘stopped’ by a truck. The driver of the Corolla nearly ran over a petrol attendant, who narrowly escaped injury.
On Friday 2 August a mass patrol was organised by the Mashishing Sector 2 Community Policing Forum in collaboration with Afriforum Neighbourhood Watch. It was a successful operation with participation from the community members. The roll of the volunteers was to observe and report any findings to the Lydenburg SAPS. The operation lasted from 20:00 till 24:00 after which a few individuals continued until 04:00 Saturday morning. It was helpful to see known criminals in the act and the Lydenburg SAPS followed up on the information. The action included foot patrols, vehicle patrols and observation points. The CPF Mashishing Sector 2 invites all other CPF Sector 2 neighbourhood watches to take part in the monthly patrol. For any information phone Hugo Fourie: 083 299 9204. The CPF is a police initiative.

Kundige myners werk elders in Afrika.
Sekerheidskundiges werk in die midde ooste of Afganistan of Irak, Ingenieurs vestig in Australië, Kanada of New Zeeland.
In kampdagboeke skryf vroue oor hul kamplewe.

Byvoorbeeld : Nico en Rusoord is by Putjie nommer 1.

Monthly motoring costs remain high The refreshed Ford Mustang is here WESBANK says the average monthly cost of motoring in South Africa continues to “rise steadily”, with the latest figure sitting at nearly R8 000. The firm’s monthly mobility basket, which comprises vehicle instalments, fuel, insurance and maintenance fees, has risen to R7 851,39. This is 3,0 percent higher than 2018’s figures, and 28 percent higher than five years ago when monthly costs amounted to R6 144,22. The total mobility basket comprises all the fees that are involved with vehicle ownership: a monthly instalment, the insurance premium, fuel and maintenance fees. WesBank says these expenses are “regularly updated to reflect inflation, interest rates and other fluctuating costs”, and are based on an “average entry-level vehicle” that travels approximately 2 500 km per month. Vehicle instalments and fuel spend remain the largest portions of the monthly mobility basket, accounting for 80 percent of monthly spend. However, when viewed as a portion of the monthly motoring budget, WesBank says fuel spend is “significantly less” in 2019 compared with five years ago. Fuel spend accounts for 35 percent of the total this year, while vehicle instalments are 45 percent. This contrasts with the mobility basket in 2014, where fuel spend and vehicle instalments cost about the same amount. “In 2014, fuel prices were on the rise and monthly fuel spend was roughly equal to an entry-level vehicle’s instalment,” said Ghana Msibi, WesBank executive head of motor. “This is no longer the case, and despite monthly fuel price hikes from February to June 2019, this month’s fuel prices are actually lower than they were during July last year. This does not mean the cost of motoring is lower,” he added. Vehicle instalments and insurance premiums account for the highest increases over the past five years, says WesBank, mainly as a result of vehicle price inflation. From 2014 to 2019, vehicle instalments increased 43 percent, while insurance premiums grew 40 percent. In comparison, fuel spend and maintenance fees grew 11 percent and 8 percent respectively over the same period. WesBank’s data further indicates “favourable vehicle price inflation” over the past year, with consumers only spending marginally more on new and used vehicles. In June, the average new vehicle financed through WesBank cost R321 715, while the average used vehicle cost R215 848. This reflects a 3,0 percent and 2,0 percent year-on-year change for new and used vehicles, respectively. “Interest rate cuts and lower fuel costs are always welcome, but this shouldn’t influence a vehicle purchase. Motorists should take a holistic view when planning a car purchase and ensure that their budgets include the instalment amount, insurance costs, fuel money and savings for maintenance and services. “Their budgets should also be able to absorb higher costs a few years down the line. The smartest move is to plan for rising costs over the duration of the finance contract,” said Msibi. Ryan Bubear carmag.co.za

We are stockholders of the following tyre brands
THE facelifted Ford Mustang range has finally arrived in South Africa, with the local line-up led by the limited-edition Bullitt. Of course, we’ve already brought you pricing for the updated range, which now comprises five variants (including the aforementioned Bullitt, of which just 50 examples – down slightly from the initially reported figure of 55 – have been set aside). The Mustang is again offered locally in both fastback and convertible body styles and with a choice of updated 2,3-litre, four-cylinder EcoBoost (213 kW/441 N.m) and naturally aspirated 5,0-litre V8 (331 kW/529 N.m) engines, each mated to a new ten-speed automatic transmission. The Bullitt, though, employs a six-speed manual gearbox and a bit more power from its V8 heart (at 338 kW). This special model is furthermore offered in exclusive Dark Highland Green or Shadow Black exterior paint. In the broader range, three new metallic hues (Kona Blue, Orange Fury and Velocity Blue) have been added, while newly designed 19-inch alloys are offered in multiple finishes depending on the model (with Luster Nickel-painted forged aluminium items on the short list of options). Inside, Ford promises a “more premium feel”, with soft-touch materials used on the door linings and an aluminium finish applied to the interior door handles. Leather-trimmed (heated and cooled) seats are offered up front, along with sixway power adjustment. Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment software is run through the centrally sited eight-inch touchscreen, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (and also features navigation). Under the skin, the Blue Oval brand says it has “further optimised” the Mustang’s driving behaviour thanks to recalibrated shock absorbers, a stiffened rear suspension arrangement and thicker anti-roll bars. Interestingly, Ford has included a range of driver assistance technologies, including pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control (plus distance alert), lane departure warning and lane keeping aid. The below pricing includes a four-year/120 000 km warranty and a six-year/90 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km). Consumer resistance against Land Rover upgrades expensive vehicles growing Look for local options THE TransUnion SA Vehicle Pricing Index (VPI) for the second quarter of 2019 shows South African car-buyers are making “a clear shift back to vehicles under R200 000”. The VPI measures the relationship between the increase in vehicle pricing for new and used vehicles from a basket of passenger vehicles, which incorporates fifteen top volume manufacturers. In its latest quarterly report, TransUnion SA said the local vehicle market “continues to struggle, with the bulk of the buying activity currently taking place in the used car sector as financially stretched consumers increasingly opt for older cars at lower price points”. The firm’s figures show the number of new and used vehicles financed have fallen 7,0 percent and 2,0 percent respectively quarter-on-quarter. This despite the VPI for new and used vehicle pricing remaining below inflation, with used vehicle pricing increases at their lowest since Q2 2014. The new vehicle VPI moved to 3,1 percent in Q2 2019 from 2,6 percent in Q1, while the used vehicle index fell sharply from 2,5 percent to 1 percent.
LAND Rover Classic has announced the introduction of a range of “upgrades” for old Defender models, delivering “enhanced performance and on-road agility”. The new upgrade kits will allow Defender owners to enhance 90 and 110 derivatives built between 1994 and 2016, with the Whitley-based firm saying the idea was “inspired” by the limited-edition 298 kW Defender Works V8. “In 2018, Land Rover’s 70th Anniversary year, we saw unprecedented demand for the limited-edition Defender Works V8, which brought new levels of handling and performance to this iconic vehicle,” said Calum McKechnie, head of Land Rover Classic. “Extending the range of fully engineered, tested and approved upgrades offered by Land Rover Classic underlines our commitment to supporting existing Defender owners, as we look forward to the new Defender’s world premiere later this year,” he added. Upgrades start with diamond-turned 18-inch Sawtooth alloy wheels which can be fitted to Defenders built from 1994 model year onwards. The Defender suspension upgrade kit, meanwhile, is suitable from 2007 model year vehicles, comprising tuned suspension tailored for “on-road comfort and dynamics” with revised coil spring rates, dampers, anti-roll bars, links and bushes. The Defender handling upgrade kit adds uprated Works V8 specification brake discs, pads and callipers to the 18-inch Sawtooth alloy wheels and enhanced suspension. Finally, the Defender Classic Works upgrade kit, offered exclusively on 2,2-litre TDCi models produced from 2012 model year onwards, includes all of the aforementioned wheel, brake and suspension elements in addition to new performance-rated tyres and an engine upgrade which delivers an extra 30 kW (for total outputs of 120 kW and 463 N.m). Top speed, meanwhile, is increased to 170 km/h. The Classic Works upgrade kit furthermore includes bespoke badging on the front wings, an owner’s certificate, vehicle collection, health check and handover with a tour of Land Rover’s Classic Works, UK, or Essen, Germany, facility, where the upgrade is carried out. It's not yet clear whether similar packages will be offered in South Africa. Article written by Ryan Bubear carmag.co.za
The latest VPI report showed the used-to-new vehicle ratio had increased from 2,05 in 2018 Q2 to 2,16 in 2019 Q2 (meaning 2,16 used vehicles were financed for every new vehicle financed). The make-up of used vehicle sales is also shifting, says TransUnion, with 34 percent of used vehicles financed under two years old, and 6,0 percent of those being ex-demo models (indicating consumers are opting for older vehicles as pressure on disposable income increases). “People continue to spend less on cars, with a clear shift back to vehicles under R200 000 as consumers continue to feel strain on their disposable income. The percentage of cars (both new and used) being financed below R200 000 is at levels last seen in Q2 2013, which effectively means that consumers’ purchasing power has not changed since that time and has actually decreased in real terms (that is, taking inflation into account),” the report said. Indeed, according to TransUnion’s figures, 39 percent of vehicle deals financed in the quarter were under R200 000, 28 percent between R200 000 and R300 000 and 33 percent more than R300 000. “Average loan size in this quarter is also similar to that of Q2 2013, further emphasising pressure on consumers’ disposable income and the emergence of increasing demand for entry level vehicles or older used vehicles,” the report added.
Andre Coetzee The Lydenburg Fly-In Festival Aircraft from all over South Africa arrived on Saturday the 3rd of August at our little airfield near Lydenburg Mpumalanga, 27 aircraft were present at the fly in. There were also 3 helicopters including a Westland Gazelle, a French military helicopter. We would like to thank Hover Dynamics for doing the helicopter flights on the day, allowing locals to enjoy the scenery from the air. We would also like to thank The Lydenburg Flying Club members and friends, Phoenix Flying Squad and K9 unit, Reinhardt Transport, Etiënne Els, Coastal Hire, Longtom Super Spar, McGee Ford, Mahindra Lydenburg, Hyundai Lydenburg, Longtom Nissan, Lydenburg Toyota, LT 4x4, THWI Construction, MPU Printers, Nooitgedacht Trout Lodge, Indigo Citrus, Amajaybee, Just Love Mission, N3 Rapid Response, and all the owners of the stalls that came for the day. And thank you to everyone involved that made the day special for all of us. Very special thanks must also go to the owners and support staff of “Little Annie”, Mark Hill, Sophia Hill, Jon-Marc Hill, Courtney Hill, Phillip Engelbrecht, Ian Jacobs, and every one that made it possible to be here with their lovely Antonov AN2 aircraft. We are looking forward to having them back next year again; it will be bigger and better. Thank you - Dean Hunter
