Welcome to the 6th Annual Continental Connection Bull Sale! These are very exciting times in the cattle industry right now! With the market at an all-time high, producers are finally getting paid what they deserve! That being said, we understand the cautious optimism surrounding last year’s drought and feed shortages and 2024 starting off on the dry side. Therefore, we were very strict with our bull selection process and are bringing you one of the soundest, most consistent pens of bulls we’ve ever offered. You can certainly buy with confidence knowing that we have done the hard work for you, these bulls are functional, fertile, growth based, quiet, and easy to handle.

This is only our second year offering Charolais bulls and we are very happy with the ones we have selected for you. We did, however, have a bit of a steep learning curve when feeding corn silage to Charolais cows for the first time. You will see the results of this reflected in some of their birthweights, but rest assured we have it dialed in for 2024 and are already seeing these weights from the same cows down over 10lbs on average! These genetics will adjust to your feeding program and those weights will be much truer in your herd.

To develop these yearling bulls we feed a total mixed ration that includes second cut alfalfa/grass haylage, corn silage, home grown brown oats, and a custom mineral mix. These bulls are developed with longevity in mind so they are not over fed. They will be semen tested and guaranteed on sale day. They deserve to be seen in person to truly appreciate their power, however, videos will be available online in late March.

We invite you to join us in person on April 5th to view the bulls, have a great meal, and bid at our live auction. BC Livestock sales staff will be onsite to answer your questions or confidentially bid on your behalf. Of course, you are always welcome to come view the bulls any time prior to the sale, coffee is always on!

Bulls and Females will sell in accordance with the terms and conditions set out by the Canadian Limousin Association and the Canadian Charolais Association. Any errors, omissions, or updates on sale day will take precedence over what is printed in the catalogue.

VACCINATION PROTOCOLS:

All bulls will be vaccinated with a 5 way and 8 way vaccine prior to sale in accordance to our herd health programs.

SEMEN TESTING:

All bulls will satisfactorily pass a semen test prior to the sale. Scrotal measurements are taken by a veterinarian at the time of semen test.

FEEDING:

Feeding of the bulls purchased will be provided free of charge until June 1, 2024 and is negotiable beyond that.

From the South: Approx 20km South of Quesnel on Hwy 97 will be the community of Kersley with the Alamo Diner on the left. Continue north on Hwy 97 for another 3km, watch for signs. Turn Left off the highway, cross 2 sets of train tracks, stay to your right on all the forks.

This is the first of the Magic Mike sons to sell at public auction and we are pretty excited about this guy. He was a member of our 2024 Reserve Champion Pen of 3 bulls at the Peace Country Beef Congress back in January. The top and muscle in this bull are outstanding and coupled with his sound foot, incredible temperament, and the fact that he is Homo Polled, means this bull belongs in a purebred operation.

I don’t like to point out which ones are my favorites, but when you see this guy in the flesh, you would definitely agree. Moderate framed, smooth made, beautifully fronted, small skulled, huge topped, great muscle and hip, quiet as a kitten, must I go on? Oh, and he can walk! Oh, and he’s big nutted! Ok, I’ll stop, but seriously folks, this one is special.

The third member of our Reserve Champion Pen of 3 bulls and another one of my (cough, cough) favorites. This cherry red bomb shell has been a standout since birth and was an easy choice to come on the show road with us last fall. He’s long bodied, big hipped, wide topped, and has incredible neck extension through his front end. He also has a nice big sound foot on him and is huge nutted. Much to his pen mate’s dismay, we have witnessed his significant libido as well. This bull would look real cool on the show circuit in the next couple years, I honestly should be keeping him.

When we are in the market for a heifer bull it’s important to us that not only will the bull calve easy, but that the calf will actually turn into something. That is exactly what Wulfs Blackhawk has been doing for us since the day we invested in him. Not only do the calves come easy, but they turn into some of our most marketable breeding bulls. Liberty is a perfect example of this, 70lb BW out of a first calve heifer and an actual weaning weight just shy of 700lbs.

Richmond Hector is a new AI sire we used last year to add muscle, performance and pedigree twist to our red Limos and we think this guy is pretty cool. The only Lim-Flex bull on offer this year, but we think he’s a pretty great one. This Angus/Limousin hybrid is out of a first calver that most definitely earned herself another year. Low BW of just 78lbs and an actual weaning weight of 858lbs, this bull is the epitome of hybrid vigor. The guess work is done for you on this guy.

Another one of these stout and soggy, hairy, well muscled Mike sons. This is his first calf crop for us and we are very happy with them. With a weaning weight EPD in the top 10% of the breed, this guy is going to sire calves that are the cattleman’s kind – full of muscle and performance – the kind that pay your bills.

I didn’t think I was going to be so accurate when I named this bull, but boy did I nail it! He could be my favorite black bull in the offering with how stout and smooth made he is. He has a great hip with loads of true Limo muscle and shape. But when you analyze his numbers you also see that he has growth numbers in the top 1% of the breed. This bull checks a lot of boxes with his top and rib shape, numbers, pedigree, and being homo polled - breeders take note!

Richmond Crusader is one of our favorite black AI sires to use on bigger, more rugged made cows to moderate frame and add a little eye appeal and flashiness. I’d say he nailed it on this guy. Smooth made, nice fronted, with good muscle. This bull will sire some fancy black calves. It’s also worth mentioning the consistency in this cow family. This bull’s maternal brother sells as LOT 25 in our 2 year old offering, so have a close look at this pair of brothers.
