L Guitars

In January 2023 I attended The Los Amigos Guitar Show in Costa Mesa California. After a while of walking around I Came Upon a booth that caught my attention. What intrigued me at first was the color of a guitar that was on display, as a luthier I had made a guitar similar in color so as I introduced myself to “Lance” who is the owner of “L-Guitars”, from there we started talking about the guitars that were on display.

L Guitars is a Southern California company that was established in 2019 by Lance McCormick.

These guitars are custom handmade in Southern California and features some very special characteristics that grabbed my attention such as the “Lock Claw resonator bridge system” and a locking mechanism for a 5 way “Strat” switch, the lock is a preset device, it works with a 5-way position switch for example when you’re playing guitar pickups in the Rhythm Section using the middle and neck position the lock prevents you from accidentally moving it to the bridge position while strumming the guitar. The lock retro fits on any 5 way switch.

The quality of these instruments are of high standards the feel of the Maple neck has very solid feel and the body has specific measurements to play comfortably with Contour angle on the back of the body for Comfort playing.

After a few weeks from the show I met up with Lance at his guitar shop in Chatsworth, California and I had the opportunityto really sit down with the guitars and play them without the background noise of a trade show behind me, these guitars just sound incredible.

What I really like about these guitars is that they’re really comfortable to play the sound of the instruments are amazing they are made from different species of wood and different pickup configurations.
