THE RIGHT LOCATION
know
Y OUR TAR G E T
Before you set out to find the best locations for your food truck, you should consider the target audience for your products, what they want and what their needs are. You should also check where your customers are, what they are willing to pay for products like yours and you need to understand how to communicate with them. Generally, you find places that are trafficked and where there is no other companies that provide service like yours.

SUGGESTIO NS
Office buildings and large companies Typically, office buildings and large companies are a good target in the morning. When people go to work, it is easy and convenient to take a cup of coffee and a freshly made sandwich to go. For lunch the demand will probably not be as high, as most major companies in Copenhagen has a canteen - or people make lunches from home. Consider whether your concept may include the possibility of takeaway or a form of “make your own“. However, it will require you to move your car to a more attractive location for lunch and then return when people get off work. Residential Areas New residential areas such as Sydhavn or Nordhavn can be ideal for a food truck. Typically it will be breakfast and dinner that is relevant, since you can catch people to and from work. Generally, development areas are under-represented when it comes to restaurants and cafés, so residents in these areas will always be looking for new food alternatives.

There are opportunities to establish a good business near a college, universities or dorms. Seasonal locations During the high season places like the harbour and city parks are ideal locations for food trucks. These places are good generally on weekends and in the afternoon, as this is where people have time to stay for longer periods of time. Locations at night When people drink, they eat. It is therefore a good opportunity to park close by nightclubs and bars on the weekends. The customer flow will be greatest from two to three hours before closing time.

To create awareness about your food truck you can create ads each day and post your precise location and the times you will be there, for example. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
You can make small campaigns involving your customers. For example the first 20 customers can get a free bun for their coffee in the morning. Whatever deal you’re running, you will attract more customers.
You can offer a special or free sample of your best dishes when you are out. What would be better than to tempt people with your delicious products?

MOB I LE SALES O UTSID E C O PE NH A G E N
It is a great idea to make mobile street sales outside the Municipality of Copenhagen, as it is new and exciting for most people outside the city to buy food from a food truck. Since your business is on wheels, it is also natural to seek opportunities outside the usual surroundings. Be aware that there are completely different rules when you want to sell outside Copenhagen - it is important that you call the municipality you want to make street sales at, to be sure what the rules are, and to avoid being asked to leave your location or worst, get a fine.
