Maybanke Anderson Maybanke Anderson strongly believed in the education of children. She was the person who set up the first free kindergarten Woolloomooloo in 1895 and then it was established in 1896. She also earned her living by running a very successful private school.


Maybanke Anderson The feminists in Sydney were divided over Federation, as was Sydney itself. Maybanke Anderson was in favour. She was the person who organised one of the “Women's Federal Leagues” which raised money and campaigned for the “Yes” vote.
