About Myself Hi my name is Sharon, I am 12 years old. I came to Ballarat with my family to look for gold. My family comes from Ireland. I have got 2 sisters. Their names are Anna and Poppy.
Where people came from My family travelled all the way from Ireland, in the United Kingdom. Loads of people came from Europe and China.

These are some tips for shopping for supplies
A few supples you need to buy • You can buy a tent • It keeps you dry in the summer but it might not keep you warm at night
A few supplies you need to buy • These woollen blankets will keep you very warm at night in your tent
Some supplies you need to buy • Flour can be made to make damper • This is another food the diggers can make
Some supplies you need to buy • Tea is good to drink as a miner • You have to boil water to drink water • Miners also get very thirsty in the heat
Some supplies you need to buy • Mutton expires very quickly so, you might not want to buy it
Permits When you buy a permit it expires in 1 year. You have to buy a permit or you will be sent to jail. You can make your permit have a name.
Mines • You can either choose to do shaft or alluvial mining
Alluvial mines • For alluvial mines you need to have a shovel, pick, pan or cradle as your tools • You usually work by yourself when you are doing alluvial mining
For shaft mines • For shaft mines you usually work with other people • The tools you need are a bucket, windlass, cradle and a pick
