Música Traditonal Las Mananitas is the Mexican birthday song. It is used in most traditional Spanish music. Some folks say this song is actually made of two song when in, fact there is a pick up of the pace after two verses. Suprisingly there are several forms of this song. Some have added verses or vary the verses. Las Mananitas is often performed in different musical genres, the mariachi version is the most famous There are several Las Mañanitas band versions and there are several pop variations as well. The song has been recorded by artists such as, Alejandro Fernández, Pedro Infante, Javier Solís, and the Mariachi Vargas of Tecatitlán. Las Mananitas is usually sung before the birthday cake is cut. In many countries, like in Bolivia for example, the song is performed as a serenata, usually around midnight. In Colombia, this birthday song sung to the quinceañeras (girls celebrating their 15th birthday).
