HILL WEST SPORT SUMMER 2 2015 The main focus this term has been on Sports Day—and what a fantastic day it was! We were blessed with glorious sunshine and the atmosphere was fantastic. We sent a team to the Wilson Stuart Area Sports day, where unfortunately the rain and clouds made their presence known! Year 2 have been working with Mr Stonebridge from Arthur Terry this half term, whilst Year 3 have enjoyed football with Jon from Aston Villa.

Paul, our coach, trained us by warming up with a few drills. We did stretches and passing,

which were both needed in the match. In our first game, we played Holy Cross and drew 0-0. We were unlucky not to score but pleased that we did not loose our first game. Then, we had a team talk to see how we could improve our team performance and win the next match. We went on to play Mere Green where our passing skills shone. We went on to win 4-0, with goals from Sam, George and Harry. We all worked hard both physically and mentally, playing well as a team.

A big well done to all children who participated!

We kept up the momentum in the next match against New Oscot. It was a tough match but we battled through it and drew 1-1. Again, we passed Finally, we played and defended wellthe as aDeanery. team. Even though we played our hardest, unfortunately we didn't do enough to secure a place in the semi finals. However, the team was really pleased with how they played and are excited for the up coming season. Ben Lea, Badgers.

Pupil Spotlight

Hi, my name is Matthew and I’m currently in Moles. I play football outside of school for Four Oaks Bulldogs. I play in every position other than in goal. In the summer, I play cricket for Four Oaks Cricket Club. I really enjoy it because we get to play lots of games and the training sessions means that I get to make new friends. As well as football and cricket, I also do lots of swimming. I’m able to swim over 2000meters! At the Area sports this year, I came first in the year 4 boys throwing event. There were a lot of good throwers, but I was pleased that I won the event for Hill West.

Other Sporting News! Sutton Coldfield Football Association Awards Ceremony For the first time in three years, we had two teams represented at the football award ceremony. Well done to the Year 6 football team and the year 5/6 girls football team who came 2nd in their competitions. Sports Day Well done to Banardo who won Sports Day. It was a fantastic sunny day which ran very smoothly. Well done to all the children who tried hard in each of their events and thank you to all the parents who came to support.
