Holiday Shopping

Come “Home for the Holidays” to Historic Boerne for special markets, surprises & late-night shopping Fall and winter activities might look a little different this year, but Boerne is making holiday dining and shopping in its historic downtown an experience people will not soon forget. In light of cancelled city-sponsored events, Boerne’s retailers have come together to create special “Home for the Holidays” shopping weekends, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27-28, Dec. 4-5 and Dec. 11-12, featuring an allday (and late night) shopping

and dining experience offering delightful surprises and the opportunity to shop well into the evening with stores remaining open until 9 p.m. Holiday music will fill the air as people stroll along the Hill Country Mile, enjoying beautifully-lit and decorated historic buildings, where they might even run into a few Victorian-era costumed revelers sharing holiday cheer. Additionally, a special outdoor “Handmade Market” will

be set up two weekends in Main Plaza: the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 27 & 28) and the first weekend of December (Dec. 4 & 5), from noon - 9 p.m. featuring hand crafted and unique gifts. Shopping and dining businesses will follow current capacity rules to allow for social distancing as visitors enjoy a unique holiday getaway in a historic setting. Hand sanitizing stations will be provided, and face coverings and social

distancing is required. In cities like Boerne, where about 80% of the shops, restaurants and breweries are considered “mom and pops,” the holidays are especially important to maintaining a thriving and beautiful downtown area, while local businesses offer hospitality and personalized service the bigger chain stores just can’t replicate. In other words, shopping small means benefits for business owners, shoppers and diners alike.

Beyond the holiday season, Boerne is the perfect place to get away from it all. Just steps from the Hill Country Mile are beautiful paved trails, fishing along Cibolo Creek and public art displays throughout the area, making for a great day trip or weekend getaway.
